‘I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A HEART ATTACK,’ ADMITS RODGERS

BRENDAN RODGERS has admitted he was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack after being sacked by Liverpool.

The Celtic boss, of course, came within touching distance of leading the Anfield club to their first Premier League title when they were five points clear with three games left to play in season 2013/14.

However, dropped points against Chelsea and Crystal Palace – a 3-3 draw after the Reds had led 3-0 with 11 minutes to go – allowed Manchester City to win the championship.

Rodgers was relieved of his duties in 2015 after four seasons at the club.

And after being axed by the Merseyside outfit, the Irishman accepted he needed to take a break from the game for his own health.

He revealed: “I had an incident when I left Liverpool.

“Within a couple of weeks, I went to Dubai and I lay in fear one night that I was having a heart attack.

“I suppose my mum’s situation maybe came over me because she died suddenly of a heart attack.

“I was rushed into the hospital. I was looked after great and it was basically a reaction to the body, the tightening of everywhere in and around my chest.

“It was starting to condition itself in terms of not having that pressure, so that was something that really made me sit up.”

Many believe Liverpool acted in haste in dismissing their manager, but Celtic fans are certainly not complaining!
