‘I WANT TO BE TON-UP BHOY,’ ADMITS GRIFFITHS

LEIGH GRIFFITHS is zeroing in on his target to become a Ton-Up Bhoy at Celtic.

The Hoops striker scored twice in the champions’ 4-1 success over Hearts as the team took their first step towards seven titles in a row.

The Scotland international hitman’s strikes took his tally to 87 goals in three years – just 13 short of the magical 100.

Griffiths said: “I’m not far away now and it will be a big achievement if I get there.

“I just want to keep making myself fit and available and, if the chances come, keep putting them away.

“To get 100 goals at a club like this would be massive for me. Over the years, a lot of great strikers have played here and not hit that mark.

“I’m feeling really good. Wednesday in Norway was about breaking me back in and this week we’ve got three games.

“I got 60 minutes under my belt against Hearts and, hopefully, I can replicate that in the games on Tuesday against Kilmarnock and Friday against Partick Thistle.”

Griffiths added: “We wanted to set a marker in the opening league game and we did that.

“Last season was great for us, but it’s a new season now and we want to set even more records.

“We knew Hearts were going to come and try to make life difficult for us, sit back and let us have a lot of the ball.

“We created a number of chances in the first-half and, thankfully, I managed to put one of them away.

“In the second-half, we knew they would tire. It was just about trying to take those chances and 4-1 is a decent scoreline.”
