KRISTOFFER AJER will return to Celtic after his loan spell at Kilmarnock to fight for a first team place at the Hoops.
The versatile 19-year-old central defender/midfielder spent the second half of last season at Rugby Park and impressed boss Lee McCulloch.
Killie were keen to do another deal with the champions to keep the Norwegian skyscraper, but he admitted he is desperate to get back to Parkhead to prove his ability.
Ajer said: “Next season will be interesting for me. The plan is to return to Celtic this summer.
“I’ll do everything I can to make it at Celtic. Ideally, I want to be in the team, so we will see how it goes.”They had a crazy season without a single loss, so it won’t be easy. But they are a massive club who I want to get back to. Celtic have been closely following me and it shows they have faith in me.

“It was very important to me I was able to get out and play at another club in a new position for me. It was a very successful loan at Kilmarnock.

“I played every minute and did very well. It has been a wonderful year.”I joined a very ambitious club in Kilmarnock and it was great to be there.”
