LISBON LION Willie Wallace has paid his respects to his great friend Tommy Gemmell by posting on Celtic Quick News this morning.

Willie visited Tommy a few weeks ago when he was in Scotland and knew that he was saying goodbye to his fellow Lion.

He returned to Australia with a very heavy heart.

Here is what Willie had to say about his great friend Tommy Gemmell,  and fellow Lisbon Lion…

“It is very sad to hear of the passing of my close friend TG.

“I was fortunate enough to speak to him two weeks ago whilst in the UK and to spend a little time with him.

“He will be sadly missed not only by myself and family as we have many many fond memories of our friendship with Tommy and his family.

“It has not been a great month for the Lisbon Lions with the news of health problems with some of the Lion’s family.

“Sincere condolences to Mary and Tommy’s from myself, Olive and all our family here in Australia.

“I know that Tommy will be remembered by Celtic Football Club and the supporters as he played a huge part in the success of  the Club.

“His many goals in important matches are well recorded and are up there with the great achievements of Celtic Football Club.

I will miss the “Big Man”, may he rest in peace.”
