‘I WILL NEVER PARK THE BUS,’ VOWS RODGERS

BRENDAN RODGERS insists he will “not park the bus” when Celtic take on teams of the quality of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

The Hoops have been hit for seven on two occasions by the French and Spanish aces in the past two seasons.

However, Rodgers has said he will not change his philosophy, despite two landslide defeats.

The final scoreline means Celtic have lost 12-1 on aggregate after two meetings with PSG in Group B.

Asked by a reporter after the punishment in Paris if he thought it was time for a new approach, Rodgers said: “What do you want us to do?

“We played five at the back. Do you want us to play seven along the back and one in goal, one in midfield and a striker?

“Sometimes you just have to take your hat off against top quality.

“Our players gave absolutely everything and ran themselves into the ground. We made mistakes and got punished.

“We tried to limit the damage in the second-half, keep the lines tighter and you can see that from the goals – one has dipped in from 25 yards, one has deflected out to Verratti and another good finish from Cavani.

“What more defensively can we do other than not make mistakes?

“We will learn from it and go on.”
