‘IBROX WAS FAN-TASTIC,’ LUSTIG
MIKAEL LUSTIG has talked about his experience of supporting Celtic from the Ibrox stand.
The Swedish international defender was suspended for last month’s dramatic 3-2 win over Graeme Murty’s men in Govan.
Lustig, who had been red-carded in the 2-0 victory over Aberdeen, sat alongside Leigh Griffiths and new Bhoy Marvin Compper – and the right-back admitted he was blown away by the atmosphere.
He said: “It was an amazing game and watching it in the stand makes you feel like a fan.
“It was a special occasion and sitting in among the supporters is the best place to be when you can’t play. There are a lot of ups and downs as well. It was quite tough mentally.
“The fans give such incredible support and when the third goal went in everyone went crazy. With us down to 10 men and then Edouard’s goal, it was a perfect end to the game.”
Lustig, 31, is in his seventh season at Parkhead following his move from Norwegian side Rosenborg and has two years left on his current contract.
He added: “I’ve always felt welcome here and I always want to play for Celtic, but the older you get you need to take one year at a time.
“We never think too far ahead, we take things game by game and season by season, but I’d love to be here if Celtic get 10-in-a-row.”
