ICC absurd fantasies

“Old Firm game for Wembley”. Heaven help us. I don’t doubt International Champions Cup owner, Charlie Stillitano, has a sharp eye for what he could turn into a commercial success, but there can be fewer worse ideas in the history of sporting endeavour.

So many things could go wrong with such a fixture, some would go wrong, and the contagion would spread to Celtic. There’s no mention in any coverage of this item that Celtic have been consulted at any level, so I’m assuming they were as surprised as the rest of us at the moment (they were at a similar suggestion of a game in Australia a few years ago).

Stillitano cites hosting Manchester City-Manchester United in Beijing later this year as being something of an approximation. It’s not. I suggest he looks to somewhere deep in the Monglian hinterland for a venue for a Glasgow derby of this nature. Even then I would decline.

    Sounds about right.

Winnings for this season, minimum CL participation fees then parachute payments if they got relegated would all add up to about that.

I bet Manu would prefer Leicester get that kind of money as opposed to one of the other big boys that they are struggling to keep up with.

Saturday’s fixture might be easier for Leicester than I first thought.

Thank you, sir, for your courteous and consider reply.

At the moment I am spitting blood that your good self and the other “Resolutioners” have been strung along by a supine and dysfunctional Board and am looking for ways to impress upon them that Celtic without a soul is not Celtic.

John Paul Taylor is issuing Standard Reply no 1 letters to those writing to him calling for Celtic PLC to progress Res 12. I do not fault JPT. He has had his instructions from on high.

Could concerted action with the office-bearers of the Supporters Association in seeking a meeting with PL, and even requesting DDs attendance be a lever?

Again, you and the others have my unremitting gratitude for your years of work and I do not want it to end in us not only being put to the back of the bus but deliberately run over by the bus. HH

I think I have 1200 so less than 5000 like me.

It is 5% of issued shares.

The resolution would be briefly aired, but resolution would be defeated.

In my opinion only route is courts for loss of shareholder value.

Reading back over the comments on Res 12, I appreciate this may be a huge dilemma for the club in practical terms, but it’s very straightforward in ethical terms. Mind, I’m not persuaded the ethics matter a jot to our Board. However, they will face the classic rotten choice on the practical front. Offend the SFA, MSM and Sevco or your own (ahem) ‘customer’ base? PL grimly hanging onto the forlorn hope that we won’t be so offended as not to renew our season books…

Poor Peter, a misunderstood ‘profit’ in his own time….

  7. What a gamble the club are taking, they are placing all their eggs in the OF basket, as PLB said, they have the choice of offending those who would see us gone in a heartbeat, or those who can kill the club in a heartbeat.

I can’t but help think they are making the wrong decision, 100% the wrong decision.

It has to be court cases.

  8. I firmly believe Peter Lawwell will be off this summer to pastures new. If there is no movement re Res12 , LNS and EBT cheating there is no way he will show up at another AGM and face the wrath of the shareholders, they may have the votes but they will be swamped by those who do attend….

Thanks for info. Even my few hundred added to yours won’t get us too far.

I appreciate that the block vote would defeat the motion but it would force our Board to make a choice – be seen by Celtic supporters as supine and dysfunctional or by taking arms against them so end them.

If it has to be via a Judicial Review then so be it. I am willing to contribute but it would require a substantial number of supporters to do likewise.

I am disgusted that good men like Auldheid and the other bhoys are not being given full support by the PLC. HH

Auldheid lives and breathes for justice, as his good lady will tell you :-)

If he was wanting something other than a level playing field I could understand the reluctance on the clubs part to carry it forward, but all he wants is for the game to be the same for everyone, it seems that in 2016 in scotland that is too much to ask for.

I did write to Peter Lawwell as shareholder and express my concerns about tax evasion and its impact on Celtic’s best interests and was invited to meet with him. I was told in the meeting with Peter Lawwell and John Paul Taylor that several meetings had been arranged with fans either season ticket holders and/or shareholders.

They stated they had been surprised when the diddy clubs refused to accept new “Rangers” into the league and surprised at Nimmo Smith too. They said that they were focused on Celtic’s best interests. They stated that there were no SFA plans to deal with Rangers in terms of tax evasion. Regan would be held accountable through SFA Management Board in terms of Celtic’s best interests. They did not fully agree that work was needing to be done in terms of leadership and governance of Scottish football. They did not accept that Celtic were facing a rigged game or that ten years of cheating needed to be dealt with (not withstanding the final position from the courts).

  12. My friends in Celtic,

Amidst all the Hillsborough coverage there was an article, can’t remember where, that all but one of the 96 were individually represented in their memory.

  14. Auldheid,

I understand in present day Scotland there are difficulties facing the Board but as someone said a long time ago when they were playing football with severed heads “Fiat iusticia, ruat caelum!”

If the Board are not playing the Res12 bhoys straight and playing games, I for one “am not amused”. Rant over. HH

I would like to thank you all for all your hard work and effort in attempting to clean up one of the many parts of our corrupt game .

The fact that even the people who head the very club that you are fighting justice for seem to be doing all they can to undermine you all ,makes your achievements so far all the more remarkable .

IMO the club is in dangerous territory if they continue to stall on this and expect the support to forget all about it .That is a gamble I feel will not end well for them but will end very well for the peepil they are getting into bed with .

I have noticed that a vast majority of the posts expressing their intention to refuse to renew have been from long term ST holders and if it pans out that way then it will be very hard to get those guys back . If that impacts on the overall attendance and the boards new best friends over the clyde get an uplift in their ST uptake then our club will suffer most ,as I assume the new ST buyers the board are hoping take up the shortfall will be off to the golf course as soon as the bad times roll in .

Looks like pistol pete is about to play russian roulette with the future of our club and he seems to be hoping we cop the bullet but it doesn’t prove to be fatal .

And a rousing speech by cllr Joe Anderson thanking the families, remembering the 96 And nailing the estblishment and media especially the sun on their shamefull cover up.

  19. I hadn’t really given it much thought before but I am now VERY inclined NOT to renew my ST. I know I may be hurting my team but it seems to me that our Board is hurting us, the support. There has been way too much of that sort of thing in our history. Time to make a stand, methinks.

  20. An Teach Solais on

There is no reason why the PLC cannot tell Auldheid, BRTH, Canamalar and Morrisey – even on a strict confidential basis (a) whether they will give any support required to have Res12 put to UEFA/CAS or (b) reasons why the PLC has decided not to proceed. That at least would save them spending any more of their time persisting with the present mode of delivery and allow them to consider the options.

IMHO what is worse than failure to act is pretending to do so and have good people spending hour upon hour, in a voluntary capacity, and it was all a charade.

I hope that the above description is wrong but duplicity is worse than a decision with which we might disagree but if given the reasons for a negative decision we might have had to accept, albeit unwillingly.

The Res 12 bhoys are heroes in my eyes. I hope that there has been no gamesmanship by anyone else. HH

  23. When it comes down to it it is about them.

    They did it.

They also manufactured that agreement to suit themselves.

It not about others, it is about them.

They have fewer friends than before. Not exactly enemies but even they can stomach so much.

    It is straight forward.

    They did it.

They want to be the same. Gimme five!

I would say that the average Celtic fan would have as much chance of being PM or Lord Chancellor or whatever as the average fan of any other football club, and the attitude of the Establishment would be the same.

For once I agree with Ernie. For those of us who live in the real world, it does not matter a flying feck if Catholics are barred from these establishment positions. It would not affect my life one iota if a Catholic was monarch or prime minister.
