Many regrets were evident in Adam Idah’s words to Sky Sports on leaving Celtic: “I think there have been so many times where I’ve won them games and got them qualified for things, the finals.
“It probably goes unnoticed.
“It can be tough, you get a lot of hate. You might have a bad game and it’s torture. It’s a difficult place up there. But flip it the other way, you’re doing well and it’s the best place ever.”
He added, “To score 20 goals last season coming off the bench, it kind of goes a bit unnoticed.” That’s the difficulty when trying to fill the boots of a striker like Kyogo.
This can he a harsh environment to work in, with so many demanding experts to satisfy. Adam was wrong if he thinks his achievements went wholly unnoticed, though. He picked Celtic off the canvas when he arrived in January last year. Without him, we would never have won the league and circumstances would be very different today.
Ange Postecoglou is odds-on favourite to be named Nottingham Forest manager following the sacking of the much-loved Nuno Espirito Santo. Forest are owned by the less-loved Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis. I hope the bookies see no more than the Greek connection. Perhaps all football clubs offer a harsh environment, but Ange can surely find better soil for his plans.

Aye, harsh indeed.

Ruled out by VAR
Hopes dashed Paul…
Ange already at the Forrest training ground
Adam did indeed play a big role in getting us a double on 2023 – good job we went off piste in signing him that month.
But Celtic can be a very tough environment. We’ve a manager that is our most successful in 40 years getting it in the neck despite delivering trebles or doubles every season.
Christ, you know ain’t easy !
Thanks, Adam. Good luck.
Ange is on the EPL money go round.
P67 led the way for ridiculing the signing of Idah (along with Engels and Trusty.)
Should we have a chat about Brendan’s man management?
At 60 you can forgive Ange for wanting another go in the biggest league no matter who it’s for.
It’s an incredible story, hes a decent guy who deserves all the good fortune that comes his way
Elsewhere, be interesting to see how Angeball gets on in the EPL with a different squad profile than Ange had Tottenham.
Also, it’s by no means impossible that Ange could be back at Celtic Park in the Springtime, given Forest and Celtic are both competing in the Europa League.
I have a lot of time for Ange and I hope he does well at Forest , as long as ‘doing well’ doesn’t include a top 6 place , which I don’t think is achievable in that environment . Let’s hope he has better luck with injuries than he did at Spurs .
Ange has taken the gig.
Talking of dodgy owners theres talk of an American sports franchise owner being in for Spurs
It will take the total number of American owners in the EPL to 14, which is also then number of votes needed to change the rules
Does this mean a closed shop with no relegation 39th games, wage caps and all the other rubbish that makes American sports so boring?
“ P67 led the way for ridiculing the signing of Idah”.
P67 led the way for ridiculing the price paid for Idah.
There, fixed it for you – if you buy an asset for £9m and sell it 12 months later for £6m (with the possibility of a £1m add-on) you have, by definition, overpaid.
The panic sets in at Celtic Park as Ange is not available.

Well given some of the disdain shown towards Adam Idah on here, (no names no packdrill) I was surprised they weren’t singing from the rooftops when they heard he was heading down to Swansea.
But no, for some of those very same critics, their reaction wis “Whits the Board daein noo Tam?”
What indeed?
Were Brendan to read the lead articles on CQN, hes doubtless agree about that harsh environment
Now, about our recruitment process……

Have Dunfermline been approached yet ?
Great to see big Adam score
Beating Brendan Rodgers with a stick for the cost of Adam Idah always was thin gruelling, it evaporated when The Board grabbed most of the money back from under our nose. , BR waited and waited on his other striker that never came.
Adam Idah cost us £2M net. ( £9M paid £7M received ) he gave 18 months service . In that period his goal won us the Cup and he scored a handful of goals in his first season to win the league and CL, direct entry. He also scored 20 goals last season including 2 in the CL, which probably helped sell him to fellow ‘Dafties’ at Swansea, that know potential.
£2M that’s some bargain. 👍 and even fits in the ‘ good value ‘ for Celtic range obsession.
“It can be tough, you get a lot of hate…”
From who exactly?
The Huns would be a shoo-in for that kind of abuse.
Sure hope he wasn’t talking about unfriendly fire from among our own fanbase.
And yes, Adam probably did a fair bit for us. Who, exactly, fought doggedly to bring hime on board?
A mark of BR’s exacting standards/ruthlessness to admit Adam fell short of the standard BR seeks – and to let him go.
Let’s hope Kelechi – around the same age and status Chris Sutton was when he joined us for 6mill quid in 2000 and resurrected his career and repute – can find some of the ole magic with Brendan’s guidance.

We’ve made considerably more of a loss if you add up all the projects who did the sum of sweet FA for us .
“It’s the truth I’m after, and the truth never harmed anyone.
What harms us is to persist in self-deceit[£49 old firm tickets] and ignorance.”
__ Marcus Aurelius
To virtue signal is to self-deceive.
To say that Rangers died when you helped Celtic PLC to cover up Rangers death with a £49 old firm ticket, is self-deceit and ignorance.
Self-deceit and ignorance has been the Celtic Way since the PLC’s 2016 £49 old firm ticket deception, on their not too bright fans, who are cajoled by an auld man who is ignorant of the route of his bible sermons.
Self-Deceit and Ignorance __ should be you’re new watchwords.
Rodgers tippy tappy, clap clap, run run, should be the last manager that Celtic PLC are allowed to appoint.
But he wont be.
When Celtic’s supporter base accepts a £75,000 per week manager in the Spl, who can’t lay a glove on Russell man-bag, but blames the board for this egocentric GB hater, who has programmed ALL of his players to 100% avoid ALL contact with the GB.
If you don’t believe me, watch our next home game and see Rodgers and ALL players looking above the GB and waving at the empty seats, and smiling like fake celebrities and politicians would.
Here endeth the lesson.

Yes, just dawning on P67, and the placemen, when you are playing business politics, it’s often human beings that are collateral damage.
7 mn for Adam after, relatively speaking a poor season, still got a great return.
He was a sound player and better than the ridiculous 2023 summer intake, which was one of the reasons that we had to get good players in, in 2024.
Also with the FSR nonsense getting an injection of some much needed common sense.
Paying 24 mn for Trusty, Idah and Engels, rather than keeping the money in the cash reserves looks like a smart move.
The money as player assets is so much more conducive to Football Club FSR management than “cash reserves”.
Good Luck Adam, hope you do great at Swansea and show the Celtic uber-fans they have been wrong again!!
Aff Oot
Hail Hail
If Rodgers and ALL of his players cant look the GB in the eyes then why would ANY supporter trust ANY employee of Celtic FC?
Opportunity cost doesnt appear on transfermarkt or the profit and loss but it’s just as obvious when you play out three 0-0s in champions league qualifiers and the derby with 20m of attacking signings contributing the square root of zero.
Statement II, is not optional .
Odin Holm – in time for Christmas
I always thought not replacing Kyogo was a bit of a red herring
We swapped him for Jota, and tge plan was that he’d start on the left and Maeda would become our first choice striker. It was a sensible plan, that didn’t work because of Jotas injury.
It does make Idahs sale when he was happy to stay even more of a head scratcher. There was some very fuzzy logic going on in the transfer window, a complete lack of joined up thinking

Whose plan was that ?
AN DÚN on 9TH SEPTEMBER 2025 12:50 PM
I assumed it was Brendan’s, assuming that we weren’t signing Jota to sit on the bench once he was up to speed, and we weren’t dropping Maeda
Maybe I’ve got it wrong, I thought Munich away was our best team

Maybe there wasnt that much of a plan and doing the swap deal for Jota was just opportunistic.
Celtic40me
If that was the plan – it certainly wasn’t Brendan’s – he spent every minute post Kyogo’s sale emphasising he wanted a replacement and he didn’t view Maeda as a striker.
So, I wonder whose plan it was if not our manager’s ?

“P67 led the way for ridiculing the price paid for Idah”
Agree with that and similar on Engels…it was a stick to beat another Irishman Rodgers with.
There is a subtle undertone of negativity around the Irish elements of Celtic. Not a surprise when P67 , Nicholson and Lawwell hoping for a Killie win at the weekend —- to relaunch Rodgers out campaign via the usual rags.
On a separate note Nicholson is still in hiding. When the dust settles he will sacked as he is so out of touch with reality and lacks the credibility , experience and savvy to deal with the crisis. As far removed from a CEO as I have ever seen — a joke appointment.
Today thousands of Celtic fans have turned off the funds to Celtic because of the Board and CEO. Nicholson will need to be a sacrificial lamb to have any hope of the club changing the narrative to “listening and changing”.
That in itself will not stop the momentum building which is aimed at DD & PL. This has the possibility of new ownership as DD approach is now outdated , backward and unsustainable. Interesting times ahead but P67 can keep taking his cheap shots.

“So, I wonder whose plan it was if not our manager’s ?”
Nobody’s. If it wasn’t his plan then ive got it wrong and simple logic has let me down.
If it wasn’t his plan then we’d have ended up with one of our two best attacking players on the bench.
Unless he planned to use one of them on the right wing and Jota was a replacement for Kuhn
In which case Kuhn didnt need replacing as his replacement was already here, and we were only looking for a striker. But then we sold our first choice when he didn’t want to go.
Head scratching
He did play Maeda as striker in our most important game of the season when we have our best performance of the season and left Idah on the bench so it’s strange he wouldnt see Maeda as a striker, and start him there in the qualifiers and the derby
