Many regrets were evident in Adam Idah’s words to Sky Sports on leaving Celtic: “I think there have been so many times where I’ve won them games and got them qualified for things, the finals.
“It probably goes unnoticed.
“It can be tough, you get a lot of hate. You might have a bad game and it’s torture. It’s a difficult place up there. But flip it the other way, you’re doing well and it’s the best place ever.”
He added, “To score 20 goals last season coming off the bench, it kind of goes a bit unnoticed.” That’s the difficulty when trying to fill the boots of a striker like Kyogo.
This can he a harsh environment to work in, with so many demanding experts to satisfy. Adam was wrong if he thinks his achievements went wholly unnoticed, though. He picked Celtic off the canvas when he arrived in January last year. Without him, we would never have won the league and circumstances would be very different today.
Ange Postecoglou is odds-on favourite to be named Nottingham Forest manager following the sacking of the much-loved Nuno Espirito Santo. Forest are owned by the less-loved Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis. I hope the bookies see no more than the Greek connection. Perhaps all football clubs offer a harsh environment, but Ange can surely find better soil for his plans.

Idah’s price tag was down to our failure to include an option.
An option Udinese had already negotiated for us – £3.5 million.
Anyone using Idah’s price tag to beat Brendan and defend the board has got themselves a bit mixed up imo.

Cos that in essence is what it has cost us. Hands up. Yup I would have.

anytime i watch the drills and the rare occassions they actually speak i find it all very good.
i would say i thought that circular drill was overly complicated. hard to remember if you are not speaking english first.

Another striker whose career was on a downward spiral joined us when he was 27 after big money and high profile moves had rendered him a bit of a laughing stock. We turned him around and he became a monster of an asset for us playing upfront and, in the odd emergency, even at centre back. I’m surprised Mr Chris Sutton hasn’t been able to draw on that case in the player’s defence.

Fast forward only 6 years to the aftermath of the League Cup Final when we were gubbed 1-4 by the maryhill magyars, at that time we had skip tae ma lou, kenny and harry harry again more than capable of scoring goals, actually in the second half, which I never saw as I was in Queen Street Station at the time Kenny grabbed our consolation goal, I left as I feared that our 7-1 record would be broken as it seems that every time the sizzle advanced up to the mount florida end they scored, the only time that I have ever left a game early, but allegedly we made more than enough chances to not only tie but win the game.
The Big Mhan set out to sign us an out and out striker, he went back to Fir Park to sign another portly 25 year old who was serving a 6 match ban at the time, another beloved and well sung about fan favourite John Dixie Deans, who broke the post war record for his 6 goals, again the same thistle, in a single game plus he is the only player in Scottish football history to twice score a hat trick in a major cup final, first in the 1972 Scottish Cup Final and then 1974 Scottish League Cup Final, both against the Hibees, Dixie Deans superstar how many goals have you scored so far.

I think,like Engels a bit of it is to do with condition thinking,we were told we were upping the tfer stakes,the fee was nowt to do with Adam,alas to fans at that price we were expecting more goals,sadly it didnt work out.
The move was a suprise for him,there is a difference between ‘talk’ and putting a deal on the table,the player commented over here bout folks getting on his back(not supportive) if things went well he was a king(not Dave).

It might be misreading of body language but he didn’t seem as interested in working as you’d want from a first choice striker, even Brendan commented on it after subbing him at half time in the playoff.
