Many regrets were evident in Adam Idah’s words to Sky Sports on leaving Celtic: “I think there have been so many times where I’ve won them games and got them qualified for things, the finals.
“It probably goes unnoticed.
“It can be tough, you get a lot of hate. You might have a bad game and it’s torture. It’s a difficult place up there. But flip it the other way, you’re doing well and it’s the best place ever.”
He added, “To score 20 goals last season coming off the bench, it kind of goes a bit unnoticed.” That’s the difficulty when trying to fill the boots of a striker like Kyogo.
This can he a harsh environment to work in, with so many demanding experts to satisfy. Adam was wrong if he thinks his achievements went wholly unnoticed, though. He picked Celtic off the canvas when he arrived in January last year. Without him, we would never have won the league and circumstances would be very different today.
Ange Postecoglou is odds-on favourite to be named Nottingham Forest manager following the sacking of the much-loved Nuno Espirito Santo. Forest are owned by the less-loved Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis. I hope the bookies see no more than the Greek connection. Perhaps all football clubs offer a harsh environment, but Ange can surely find better soil for his plans.

I believe actions speak louder than words. Kelechi supposedly had the option in January and chose not to re-unite with the man he now speaks so highly of, turning down CL and chance to win trophies which he also says is important to him now.
He is always going to speak highly of his boss publicly as it is self serving to do so.
I find his man management with regards to Yang (bless him) and our new LB concerning.

Much of what Brendan Rodgers says comes to pass, if he gets things wrong he apologies.
Have you heard this Board apologise for anything? Ever!?
He should be taken at his word unless you can prove otherwise.
The same with Kelechi, he spoke very well of our manager, players, Club and yes, the proof of the pudding will be, what he does on the pitch but to infere he is a liar before he’s kicked the ball, while par for the course is contemptible.

What have I twisted?
His comments on Yang were those of a condescending jack ass.
At best it was an attempt to be humourous but aimed at a young lad giving his all it didn’t land well with me, nor did writing off a player before he’s given a chance and his constant downplaying of his current squad of players before crucial games.

Not sure what that has to do with anything. I can be, and have been on here as recently as last day or two, critical of the board. I have heard very little from them period, good or bad. I’ve said recently I’d love to hear an apology, to hear of plans for the money they are saving etc. so if you are trying to paint me as pro board anti BR then you have missed the mark.

Theres definitely a bit of that at work, he got caught up in the fighting between the “factions,” but he’s not entirely blameless in the whole thing
It might be misreading of body language but he didn’t seem as interested in working as you’d want from a first choice striker, even Brendan commented on it after subbing him at half time in the playoff. And getting caught throwing up in a cab when he was trying to establish himself as first choice didnt really suggest someone who was committed to making the most of his big chance.

That’s the way any properly run football club would do it.
The transfer window was a mess and to put the blame for that on other clubs, FSR, agents, players, coaches, scouts is ridiculous.
This is the Celtic Board’s doing and it has been the same over a decade with different heads of recruitment, different, managers, different players and different clubs.

I think the starting point is exactly as you describe it.

That’s all of us.
After that realisation, we accept it, don’t wallow in the fact and do something (specific, board) to mitigate.
As for consequences?
Bit like buying a house in a market where others have got more money than you.
If you wait until a closing date is set, you’re goosed (every time).
If you get in early before others have gathered, organised or perhaps even have not yet recognised the value or potential?
… you’re in with a shout. Nothing more.
BTW – as part of that transparency thingy … I’d publish a summary of every time we made a formal offer that was rejected.
I wouldn’t identify the player’s name, the club, the amount or even the position the player plays.
(i.e. no PII)
Simply “formal bid made on DATE, formal bid rejected on DATE”
If nothing else it shows the fans … who currently see nothing … that you are not sitting on your hands until Derek Whyte’s birthday.

I only know two Nigerians; one a top bloke, one a bit of an erse. I’m not one for generalising a whole “people” based on a small sample, or a large sample for that matter; whether the generalisation is good or bad.

Then you will be relieved to know he is not; it was a tongue in cheek sign off. The other three examples of his self serving comments that did not give great man management vibes stand.

My own view here is that Idah was brought into be #1 as Kyogo regressed under BR / didn’t suit his system.
BR was happy to swap Kyogo for Jota with no guarantees of additional forwards and his actions in playing Maeda as CF (as per Japan) again speak louder than his words.

So BR did not approve Adam leaving? I have no info either way. I’ve heard some say that the more Idah hung around and stunk the place out, the more this reflected poorly on BR so perhaps he was happy to see him go. Not my own view, despite him looking like Bambi on Ice on occasion I thought he had potential. Then again I thought the same of Oh and Kenny so I maybe don’t have the highest of bars having spent my formulative Celtic years watching Stuart Slater.
Didn’t know Yang (bless him) had left and needed to be replaced…

No idea, I have asked the same question and again not sure what is has to do with the subject in hand (BR’s man management).
The football department should have final say here for me. If spending £x on players happy to play in our backwater league without CL confirmed means we have less left over to spend £2x on better players that might join if we confirm CL then it’s a gamble. I don’t know any inside conversations but that’s just as likely a scenario as BR wanting player x, y and z signed before the CL qualifiers and the clubs and players all being happy to do so and us choosing not to for some reason.
Dont suppose the ticket prices matter all that much to those planning to bhoycott the EL anyways…..
