Adam Idah changed Celtic history. He arrived at the club on loan during Brendan Rodgers’ first season back in January 2024. Philippe Clement had not only stabilised the wreck Michael Beale left Newco in, he hunted Celtic down, went top of the league and made his side favourites for the title.
A week in the door Adam scored with two penalties against Hibs, to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 1-2 win in the 92nd minute. At Motherwell two weeks later and he again scored twice, his second to give Celtic the lead on 94 minutes.
He will be better remembered for his Scottish Cup Final winning goal against Newco in May 2024, and our third goal in a 3-3 draw at Ibrox the month earlier, but the goals at Hibs and Motherwell were just as crucial in picking a Celtic team off the canvas and making us champions again. We would have won neither without him.
The club spent £9m to take Adam permanently from the Norwich City bench to Glasgow. It was a decision based on a small sample size (the fee was due to Brendan Rodgers publicly naming Adam as his No. 1 target early in the window). A statistical error was made; always check the sample size.
I doubt anyone is motivated to explain why Nicolas Kuhn was allowed to leave without backfill secured. Signings are notoriously difficult for all clubs and all know not to make assumptions, which is why Kuhn’s sale is so unusual. A bit of bloody mindedness was involved. Contrast with Adam’s departure. Adam could have gone earlier in the window but was kept until backfill was secured.
Two weeks late, but Royal Antwerp eventually got their backfill for Michel-Ange Balikwisha (24), who joined Celtic last night. The right-footed (predominantly) left-winger has been at Antwerp for four years and I expect will see some action on Sunday. Celtic have scouted for a long time, so he will surely fit what we need.
Michel-Ange played the same role in Belgium as Jota played at Celtic, and Daizen Maeda has played in Jota’s absence. Brendan likes to swap out both wingers during games, so I can see scope for at least five in the squad.
Welcome to Celtic, Michel-Ange.
Our Europa League draw:
Roma (home), 5th in Italy last season
Feyenoord (away), 3rd in Netherlands last season
Braga (home), 4th in Portugal last season
Red Star (away), Serbia champions last season
Sturm Graz (home), Austria champions last season
Midtjylland (away), Denmark runners up last season
Utrecht (home), 4th in Netherlands last season
Bologna (away), 9th in Italy last season
There are easier games in the Champions League than any of them, but there’s lots we can achieve with that draw.

Well, I for one, am pleased we do not have to face wee Nico Raskin at Ayebrokes tomorrow…
Not least because of the threat he posed in the air against us
Well, just when you thought we would not need to order any more Clown shoes, the Board strike again. No sign of the resident Board lackey so far,on blaming Brendan, like a f##ckwit did on James Forrest excellent piece today. He reckoned it was Brendan’s fault the Idah transfer turned into a West End Farce, because he said Idah could not leave until a replacement was signed.Oh yes,he did.Imagine that thought process.Trump fanatics more intelligent.
“Its the Mexicans own fault for not being born in America” logic.
People wonder why Harpo Nicholson does not like to show his face much.Voila.
Inspector Clouseau could not make a bigger arse of things.
” Ah,Chairman Lawell,do you have a lisons for the Minky Neekolson?”.
Celtic Mac,
Really,Raskin is your worry at the moment?.
The Celtic board can f**k right off…treating us like muppets…and their apologists can f**k right off too…only Celtic continually shoot ourselves in the face from a position of strength…record turnover last season…yet possibly our worst EVER transfer window for the coming season…THIS IS ALL ON THE BOARD….

I agree mate. Idah and Yang will stay because we can’t get deals for replacements over the line.
We’ll get a couple of loans on Monday and we’ll close out this window spending a total of £8million on permanent transfers.
Hahahahahhahahahaha. Wee Micky and his fellow duds on the Board. Keep ‘em coming.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse.
What an absolute shower of useless shyte.
They have potentially a decent front three in Gassama, Miovski and Antman. Much will depend on how quickly they get the ball to them and how many mistakes they make defensively along the way. Their midfield without Raskin has no bite and defence is a sieve.
Whoever plays in our midfield is going to get chances to score tomorrow, be that Nygren, Engels, Reo, Luke, Paolo or Calmac.
At times I can’t understand Brendan . A few days ago we were told he gets on with the board , that DD and him have a great working relationship no animosity anywhere . Then at interviews and pressers he talks about we need this ,that ,and the other ,we need to be quicker . We don’t need told that it is obvious that there is friction within . The victorian lavvy tomorrow and what a better time for them ,they have there troubles but pale into insignificance to the football suicide going on at our place , the suits do not have one excuse for what’s going on ,they are all needing cleared out , which won’t happen as long as the golf fan is in charge , they are immune to getting punted . See if we were struggling financially then that gives them a road out ,but not with the cash in the bank we have . I have followed the club from 1957 till present and mean followed like many others .
Desmond has accrued great wealth through smart business dealings , celtic fc are one business he has made a complete arse of . I’m not looking forward to tomorrow as we will not win ,we aren’t good enough to win against as poor an outfit as them , but we won’t be allowed to go 9 points in front so early .
Celtic Mac – :)
Nicholson is probably a perfectly competent club lawyer. He is not even close to a competent CEO. He needs sacked. Yesterday.
They will wait until the last minute to sack him…
Seems Yang and Idah said their farewells at Lennoxtown today
turkeybhoy
Er….no
There has been a communication problem and Yang has turned up at Swansea….
deniabhoy
Glad somebody has been paying attention….
The Board bleed Celtic…..dry….
Brendan Rodgers 29th August….
If only he had the balls….
We are wasting our time we must all get on a single platform combine our shares and buy out this lot it is the only way as Fergus and Co proved a few decades ago.
I would hope with the technology avaliable nowadays this will be able to happen easier and quicker.

😂🥴 Nail on head 🤣
I am struggling to raise any emotion on this fiasco
I cant believe how pathetic we are
I know there are some on here who do not rate BR but FFS they guy is working with clowns
Consider what happens if BR decided enough is enough (I would not blame him)
We would be deep in the thick and smelly
Right now Brendan is all we have
God bless him

It cost McCann substantially less than the share value of Celtic now, and that’s if Desmond would sell and sell at the market price without a sweetner, one thing this guy is is he isn’t philanthropic when it comes to business, every last penny extracted. Problem goes back to the way McCann sold up he said he wanted to make 10% he made 400% and that priced the wee guys out. The plc model as Desmond operates it is dead and not right for a football club.
I’ve heard that Brendan’s bro is Adam Idahs agent, anyone know?
Altogether now, Michael, Michael GTF, Michael GTF 🎶
Seems Anderlecht getting a Seria A striker in to replace Dolberg
How long does Nicholson stay in role — put him and everyone else out of their misery. There needs to be consequences for his gross incompetence.
Lawwell put his own puppet in the CEO role — hence the rubber stamping of his son as Head of Recruitment — with a stepping stone to The DoF role planned. It was all doomed for failure and with one gone the other needs terminated now. One has taken garden leave already extracting every cent of his contract and the other will do the same. Yes real Celtic men who cost the club tens of millions don’t do walking away.
It will be interesting to see if DD still has the ruthless streak —- I suspect he does.
This shambles of a transfer window shows we need the DOF role similar to most major Euro clubs.
We need to do this as it provides continuity with changing coaches and allows us to address the women’s and youth teams. This of course is all in the invisible strategy pulled together by Mr Invisible himself locked in a safe with the 100 mil. It also means the manager is not fighting on all fronts and can focus on the day Job.
This window may also be the best thing to happen to club. It has exposed the complete incompetence of the Board/Execs. The place needs gutted and serious players put in charge. They are out there — not in Glasgow…
Where’s Adam ?

Been asking that in the last three games he played in !🥴
The Returnof WeeRon & James Forrest
Many thanks, gents, for your kind words.
In summary, Celtic is now, by far, the major club in Scotland. This status has been achieved in the face of often open hostility from Scotland’s football establishment and, more recently, financial chicanery on the part of RFC. Celtic’s Board deserve credit for their refusal to accept any part of this. ‘Celtic is not half of anything.’
On the other hand, a sense of direction seems missing. Celtic’s financial advantage now almost guarantees domestic success. But, from a supporter’s viewpoint, UCL qualification tests our team against elite European clubs. Apart from that it guarantees revenues which would make the club stronger domestically and more competitive in Europe.
If UCL participatin is our goal and, arguably, it should be then why doesn’t the club do its utmost to reduce the odds against qualification?

Just suppose…seriously…use your imagination and just suppose…
Adam Idah plays tomorrow from the start, has a great game and scores a brilliant hat-trick…
What do we do? How would we react to that?

Wake up, have breakfast and hope we get £7 million from Swansea for him….
Presumably Yang and Idah knew they were off before our champions league game , yet both played and Adam took the first penalty.
No way can you be focused when you know you’re going.
Best thing would be if neither was involved tomorrow.
Very good Bada Bing 👏👏
