IDAH MYSTERY SOLVED

ADAM IDAH lasted just over half-an-hour before he was hooked in Norwich City’s 3-0 loss to Club Brugge in Belgium last night.
The Celtic target came off with his side’s already two goals adrift, but Carrow Road boss Johannes Hoff Thorup was quick to say the decision to remove the striker from the action was NOT a reflection on his play.
The new gaffer, who replaced David Wagner after the East Anglian side failed in the Premiership play-offs, cleared up the mystery by revealing it had been his intention to make the switch to give him the opportunity to look at all his players as they prepare for another titlt at the top-flight.
Idah, who scored nine goals – including the Scottish Cup winner – in his 19 loan appearances at the champions, made way for Brad Hills in the 33rd minute.
THE FINAL SAY…Adam idah slams the Scottish Cup winner past Jack Butland at Hampden on May 25, his last loan appearance for Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers has stated he wants the Republic of Ireland powerhouse frontman to join the Hoops on a permanent contract following reports an initial bid of around £4.5million had been knocked back by Norwich.
Idah is being lined up for another outing in his club’s match against Standard Liege on Saturday as they continue their warm-up tour of Belgium.
Thorup insisted: “Like I said at the beginning of pre-season, we consider Adam as an important player for us so that’s why he got 30 minutes which was important for him to get started and get back in the rhythm, nice and easy.
“He’s had more or less one full training week so that’s why we were pretty sure that it would only be half an hour on this occasion.
“Hopefully on Saturday, we can build him up to a little bit more. From watching his qualities and what he can do, he will be an important player for us.
“We have to take into consideration this was the first 30 minutes from him for a long while and he will be better. But I think he showed some signs of what we can get out of him.
LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BHOY…Adam Idah celebrates at Hampden.
“We gave him a couple of passes where he had to chest it and hold it and gave a couple of lay-offs to progress the game. I think he did well in that sense. We could have used him even more in the offensive part of the game, but I think that will come.”
Idah, under contract for another four years, has apparently already stated a preference of a return to his boyhood favourites and his Swedish team chief admitted he has held regular one-to-one conversations with the 23-year-old frontman about his future.
Thorup, apeaking to the local media, added: “Me and Adam sit down quite often, so we’ve had some good conversations already. He’s a good kid. He’s working hard and he gives some energy to the group.
“We can see what kind of striker he is already and we can definitely use him in the season.”
Celtic are expected to test the second-tier side’s resolve with another bid before the Premiership kick-off against Kilmarnock at Parkhead on Sunday August 4.
