IDAH REVEALS INTERVAL SCRUTINY

ADAM IDAH had to wait until his fifth game to claim his first Celtic goal following his £9.5million permanent move from Norwich City last month.

The Republic of Ireland international striker doubled that tally with two in TEN SECONDS in the 5-2 comeback Premier Sports League Cup quarter-final triumph over stubborn Championship outfit Falkirk at Parkhead yesterday.

Idah thumped in the second equaliser and had the nerve-shredding wait to see if the strike was valid while it was scrutinised by VAR for offside.

The goal eventually got the green light and, amazingly, Idah added another in a lightning swift strike after the opponents had lost possession straight from the recentre.

PARADISE…Adam Idah accepts the applause of the Celtic fans after his first goal of the season in the 5-1 Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava.

Nicolas Kuhn robbed a rival, sent his team-mate racing clear and once again the towering hitman finished with aplomb to put the hosts on their way to a semi-final meeting with Aberdeen at Hampden in November.

The German winger added a double in four minutes to make certain while Paulo Bernardo claimed the team’s first equaliser in the opening 45 minutes with an unstoppable first-time volley that raged high into the net.

Idah, who netted his first goal this season in the 5-1 Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava during the week, admitted: “It’s always difficult to win these games, especially when the squad is changed.

“We haven’t played many games together, but know the plan. We were on such a high after Wednesday’s game, but we weren’t at our best in the first-half.

“However, we got the job done.

“We came together at half time and spoke about what we needed to do and what we were doing wrong.”

Idah, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “It’s what the best teams do. We stuck to the plan and we’re in to the next round.

“I’m happy with the two goals and we just need to keep getting better in our performances.”

Idah and his team-mates can now rest their muscles with the next encounter due on Saturday evening against St Johnstone in Perth with the unusual kick-off time of 5.45pm with the Premiership game being shown live by Premier Sports.
