‘IF I COULD STEAL A COUPLE OF HIS PLAYERS,’ BROONY’S PLEA TO ANGE

SCOTT BROWN reveals he wouldn’t mind stealing “a couple” of Ange Postecoglou’s players.

The former Celtic skipper, now manager at League One side Fleetwood Town, admits he has been highly impressed by the Greek-Australian gaffer’s impact on his old team.

After 14 glorious years at Parkhead, Brown just missed hooking up with Neil Lennon’s successor when he left in the summer of 2021 for his ill-fated and brief stint as player-coach at Aberdeen alongside his long-time friend and ex-Hibs team-mate Stephen Glass.

Brown looks at the current side, with Callum McGregor as his successor as the onfield leader, and says it’s an education as he insists “just watching Ange and how the lads play, I am still learning.”

Asked if he could pinch 15 minutes of Postecoglou’s time to pick his brains on tactics, Broony answered: “If I could steal a couple of his players, I’d rather have that if possible!”

The one-time midfield dynamo recalled his first meeting with the former Australia World Cup gaffer on November 28 2021 when he was captain of a Dons team determined to get something from their visit to the east end of Glasgow.

Broony, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “He was fantastic with me when I came back to Celtic Park with Aberdeen. He said to walk around the stadium and go and take the applause that you are due.

“That’s not for me doing that with another strip on. But even small details like that and other managers I’ve spoken to speak really highly of him, as well.

“Would I have enjoyed playing for Ange? I think I would have. I’m not so sure I would enjoy playing for him at 37! I’d be struggling to keep up with the lads, that’s for sure.”
