If this is the acceptable standard, SFA are welcome to it

Our man on the inside, Charlie Green, seems to have upset a few people over the weekend.  Charlie was playing to the gallery with his “bigotry” comment; it is not credible that the 35 clubs who voted against providing Sevco access to an elevated league are demographic significantly different from those of Rangers (1872/3).  Although, there is a good chance that each of those 35 clubs will have a more mixed profile than the former club.

Green is still fending off interest from people with far greater pull with the Rangers (1872/3) support than he has (genuinely hope he succeeds here).  He needs to sell tens of thousands of tickets to prevent his new club slipping into the hands of one of the other consortiums still trying to buy a piece of the action.  I always caution Celtic from playing to the gallery, it delivers short term populism but is surely the alternative to a strategic plan. I am sure several clubs will express their alarm at these comments to the SFA.

Unfortunately, since the SFA failed to take action on either of Ally McCoist’s earlier inflammatory outbursts so they can expect more of the same from Green and others.

Attempts are being made to convince thousands of people a bigoted bogeyman has been out to get them.  99% of the target population will do no more than complain loudly but it’s the unpredictable >1% who exist in every community we should be concerned about.

To the best of my knowledge no Scottish club has ever accused others of bigotry, not even during ‘that’ 80 year period.  If this is the new acceptable standard, the SFA are welcome to it, but it will be better for all if we go elsewhere to play our football.  Our game has been potent for a century but it has now become dangerously unstable.

Let us go now, before this is whipped up any more.  Anyone wanting to hold Scottish football together in its current form has a lot of explaining to do.

Thanks. I’d had a look at FF and they have pages on a thread about us making a statement about not making a statement, if you know what I mean.

I couldn’t find anything official so just assumed the thickos were displaying their ignorance once again.

    You’ve confirmed it :-)

  2. Lenny gets houded by the beaks at every turn , yet Green and McCoist continue to spew their dangerous disingeuous bile without sanction

MEET THE NEW HUNS SAME AS THE OLD HUNS…with the SFA as compliant as ever

  3. Shocking story! Cheek to say they did not want our baggage brought in to the English game when they refused Celtic.

Mark McCammon was unfairly dismissed by Gillingham and his dismissal was an act of racial victimisation, a tribunal has ruled.

Gillingham said they were “disappointed – in fact, staggered” by the decision and would be consulting their lawyers.

In June, McCammon took the League Two club to an industrial tribunal. The 33-year-old striker claimed he and other black players at Gillingham were treated differently from white players. He sued the club and its chairman, Paul Scally, for race discrimination, breach of contract, unfair dismissal and failure to pay him.

Scally had told the tribunal, held in Ashford, Kent, that Gillingham had not had to deal with an allegation of racism in his 18 years at the club, saying he was “absolutely confident” there was no racism at the club.

He suggested McCammon had “manufactured” his allegations to justify storming into then manager Andy Hessenthaler’s office on November 30, 2010 and accusing him of racial discrimination.

That happened after McCammon and his two housemates, who are also black, were ordered to attend Priestfield in heavy snow when other players were not required to.

After that confrontation, McCammon was ordered to attend a disciplinary hearing. He later received a letter saying he was being dismissed for aggressive conduct towards the manager and racism, the tribunal heard.

Gillingham’s statement said: “We are hugely disappointed – in fact, staggered – by this decision. As an organisation, we are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate against, nor victimise our staff.

“This case is the first of its kind to be brought against the club in its entire history – a history that has seen the club employ many thousands of staff of various race, religion and creed, none of whom have ever felt the need to bring such a claim.”

Gillingham said they would “discuss the judgement with our lawyers and decide upon the next course of action, whether that be an appeal against the findings, or another form of action, as deemed appropriate”.

McCammon’s witness statement claimed Gillingham tried to “frustrate him out” by refusing to pay private medical bills to help him regain fitness following injury.

He said he was instead offered the choice of undergoing the same treatment on the NHS – a move he described as “completely out of character” for a Football League club – and claimed a white player had been flown to Dubai for treatment by a physiotherapist at the club’s expense.

McCammon signed for Gillingham on a three-year deal in 2008 and was the club’s highest-paid player on £2,500 a week. By his third season, they had been relegated to League Two and he had suffered an injury that needed an operation.

He said: “The way the chairman approached the matter was that he saw my injury as a way to get rid of any financial obligations, such as my wages, he might have as a result of my contract.”

  4. If you work with a hun don’t bother them with any questions just now as they are too busy being tuned into the ‘Big Draw’.

  5. Just signed and have been reading back.

Mark Hately – Winning £16.90 on the Euro lottery (BobbyRussell) is like a new signing.

Tommy is a star, how he manages to get them to talk is amazing, and they do sometimes say things they shouldn’t, pure magic so he is :>)))

Starnge why no home game, will their 1st home league game go ahead ???

  13. Quite clearly the fact they drew Falkirk away is down to bigotry.

Out of interest how many home games do they have in August? I take it the

one against East Fife will be enough to pay the bils and wages…

Will Sevco reach the magical figure of 1000 season tickets being sold.

They have the same idea as Dundee Utd of having a ticker on their web site for number of season tickets sold. Unfortunately, the numbers seem to be going backwards…

Celtic, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City on 1st of September.

  16. Anyone else as concerned about the (lack of…) centre back position as I am? We have been badly let down as fans in recent seasons, but HJK is a real ‘line in the sand’ tie. fail – and we are looking at a season of mundane predictability. Win, and we are in the mix for CL qualification with Europa League as the worst case scenario.

Investment is needed badly. Neil stated recently ‘3 or 4 players in – majority will be first-team ready’. Something has changed. Fans (for me) are being short changed. No season ticket as I live abroad. Celtic TV subs have not been renewed yet though, and merchandise is unordered. If the Club expects us to keep putting money in, they have to clearly show their ambitions. A lot of bodies have been cleared off the wage bill – we need some quality in to play in the Champions League. End of.

  19. This is just so funny! I remember when we were struggling on the pitch and the only real pleasure we used to get was watching the Huns getting humiliated in Europe. I remember listening to the Euro draw and being delighted if they drew quality opposition. Now we`re delighted that they`ve drawn FALKIRK, in the Ramsdens Cup!!! He he he……..( I just hope The Bairns don`t get too complacent because they`re playing a diddy team)

  20. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

Game being played on 14/15 means Shortbread will be able to free up lots of hardware currently being wasted at the Olympics to give the ole Ramsden’s the 21st century media coverage it deserves.
