Should Lionel Messi’s illness, which kept him out of Saturday’s clash with Malaga, prevent him boarding a plane to Glasgow tomorrow, Brendan Rodgers will take some grain of comfort. The Argentine was the principle actor in the destruction of Celtic at the Camp Nou two months ago.
Since then Celtic have more than earned the Champions League credit which has come their way. Meritocratic draws against Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach have given the club two points more than some observers predicted for them when the group stage was drawn in August.
Without Messi, Barcelona remain a potent force, but arguably the greatest player to ever kick a ball changes the dimension of the challenge enormously. While it’s likely a few days rest would be enough for Messi to push himself, if necessary, manager Luis Enrique may be inclined not to take chances with his star asset ahead of a huge week for the Catalans.
After Celtic they are away to Real Sociedad, who are only four points behind in La Liga, while the following weekend they have the chance to close the four point gap at the top when Real Madrid visit.
So if you meet Luis around town this week, tell him he’d be better to rest Leo for the important La Liga clashes.

ART OF WAR
Happy birthday!
Hope you are having a good one!
AOW
Happy birthday to u also☘️☘️
AOW
Happy Birthday mate. I had a few Peroni’s at lunchtime on Saturday when the Mrs took me out for a lovely meal.
Enjoy your night :)
Cheers Philbhoy, apart from working today its now moving in the right direction:-)
Time to go and grab my table. adios amigo!!!
Hunderbirds- my granny fae Cavan would have said “you’re fekkin lucky to be eating anything at all!!!” :-)
My Italian born wife curls her lips in contempt any time I make my ROASTED cheese. Apparently the outsiders are “for dogs and pigeons”. This from someone who chops tomatoes into minuscule bits, throws it onto teeny toasted bread morsels and calls it a delicacy. Her family are Roma supporters though, explains a lot.
lol BT- thought ye were snubbing me :-)
cheers!
I tend not to chip in on political debates, and on the big, non-football related issues of our time – it tends to raise too many hackles on the blog.
However..
…it is roasted cheese…
…on a plain outsider…
…with tea…
…milk and two sugar…
…served to you…
…in yer bed…
…by yer maw…
…before you get up for school…
…on a cold winter’s morning…
…definitely.
I’ll not be commenting further on the matter.

Thanks mate. Will do :)

Bravo, V.G.
In blantir it’s a thickie not an outsider or a doorstep
A.O.W.
Happy birthday. Enjoy the rest of your day.
I hope the food and drink are exquisite.
Hail Hail
Davidopoulos –
We were talking “hipsters” recently. Here’s something to get into the festive spirit…

And I always thot that Celtic supporters were intelligent, you put the cheese on to the toast, you don’t put it into the toast, or under the toast, so it’s Cheese ON Toast, you can then roast it if you so wish, you can grill it as well, but ffs it’s cheese On toast and while I’m in the education mode, it’s a heel :-)
Feliz Cumpleanos to Hunderbirds and AoW.

Talking of good food.
Was in Wahaca Mexican in North St David’s Street, just off St Andrews Square in Edinburgh, on Saturday evening.
Lovely so it was.
Ok, ok. We are just going around in circles with this outsider/heel/thickie/doorstop and Roasted/Toasted cheese.
Let’s talk about something we can all agree on.
I am sure that, as we speak, AOW will be enjoying everyone’s favourite Tapas, Boquerones.
Pulls pin, lobs and runs :-))
The exiled Tim.
I’m with you cheese on toast.
As for the bread, we called it an ender, one of my friends family, when I was young, called it a fatty.
HOT BETTING TIP FOR THIS WEEKEND….
Put your house on Partick to beat the zombies….
And how do I know that is a slam-dunk? Because I am running out of options for LMS, and for my sins*, have had to select the zombies for this weekend …. and when I do,those &*^&^ somehow manage to lose.
Given the rather suspicious circumstances of their last minute winner onthe weekend, I will of course be demanding a steward’s inquiry into the suspicious betting of the five LMS’ers who picked the zombies on the weekend, and won.
:)
* As penance for my transgression, I shall say 5 Our Fathers, 10 Hail Mary’s and 5 Glory Be’s, plus, should they happen to sneak through this weekend, and I manage to win LMS, I will donate 100 quid to Mary’s Meals.
PHILBHOY
I always go to Wahaca (Soho and Wimbledon) when we are down in London visiting Mrs H’s son. I didn’t even know there was one in Edinburgh. Food is brilliant.
Messi is playing? Ach well…
CHAIRBHOY and NATKNOW:
Re-Xaverians, did either of you know the Hay Brothers, John Hamill or Peter Bollan, probably more Chairbhoy’s era?
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Mike in Toronto.
Oh dear.
Sevco, don’t have a great record in Glasgow derbies. :-)).
Normally I would wish you good luck, on this occasion I won’t.
I’m pretty sure that you must be one of the very few, if not the only one, who hasn’t selected Sevco previously though.
Hail Hail.
Philbhoy…
Magic Zurawski
Not to mention their Margaritas:)
Hot Smoked
Lol
I am not worthy!!!
Guinness on tap???
Och leave it, I will find out myself.
Seriously made me laugh out loud honest.
Cheers

I reckon it depends where you were brought up, I come from the NE, we used to call the fun fair the swichies, sand shoes, gym shoes were gutties.
In saying that, the wife was brought up in Falkirk and she calls it cheese on toast.
HH
Apologies Natknow, thought you’d started earlier.
Yes Big Doc certainly had them well “motivated”, when you consider our top two years would have less than 30 pupils between them yet we had one of the best teams in the Area.
They would certainly have been the fittest players on the park.
Although it is a sad reflection of the Times, it is a great achievement by CCE.
Hail Hail
Happy birthday to Hunderbirds and AoW.
Let’s hope the Bhoys send you get a belated present Wednesday.
HUNDERBIRDS ARE GONE
It opened at the beginning of October, so new in the city.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Will definitely be back.
Hope you are well and having a great birthday.
You don’t look 35 by the way!

The term is ” thickie” not linked to IQ. Not ender just fyi

—————————————–
Might want to be careful. Suspected outbreak of Norovirus there (and in other Wahacas in London) recently. My other half took her daughter and a friend for a birthday treat and both ended up in agony for some time.
That said, it didn;t stop me going a week later. I love Wahaca. :-)))
MARRAKESH EXPRESS
THanks!
SIN CITY BHOY
Cheers. Yes here’s hoping. Lubo’s 5-1 Hunskelping game was on my birthday so good omens.
PHILBHOY
Lol. Have a standard Margarita next time you go to Wahaca. Lovely and cool, wi that hot food.
JNP …. cheers! my concern is that Partick get overconfident playing their plucky new neighbours….
Giving the outsider a fattie ender on the doorstep, that will bring him to heel.
Thunderbirds and Art of War have a braw birthday…
TheCelt45 keep that sign up!
Am sure two oilmen will come up with a cunning plan for the special dram import….
Smiley thing
Had some braw fights over a “plain heel” ….
Braw.
LENNYBHOY @ 6:00 PM,
Yes, remember them all, one of the Hay brothers was in my year, the others were a year above, in my cousins year, so were pally with him.
Noticed you went to St Vincent’s, we used the St Vincent’s Prayer book, still got mine.
Hail Hail
Big Jimmy- BMCUW is the social convenor on here, or leader aff of the clique…..:) I seen a post last night saying some bhoys meeting up on Dec 3rd , probably to watch Murderwell game…HH

No probs. dude – I was part of the great Johnny Murphy recruitment drive – I think we were described as the worst intake they’d ever had! Conversion rate bears that out LOL! Big Doc’s belt was white hot trying to keep us in line. :-))
That said – I’m still great friends with guys I met there and due to go to Murcia in the new year for my regular meet-up with my best mate and our families. Happy days!
NATKNOW
I saw that, but it wouldn’t put me off. Addicted to the place.
NATKNOW
The waitress who served us said that they’d got over some “teething problems” initially but didn’t specify what they were!
Does Norovirus have an incubation period?
We are all well………so far!
