If you want to know why this clubs is special…

The Celtic Supporters Association Rally in the Kerrydale Suite last night was a complete joy.  On the way out I remarked that the club was in good hands with the Association.  This was their 64th annual rally, over generations they have protected and cultured the unique spirit of our football club.

For me, it was the third opportunity in a week to hear the Thai Tims, who performed an excellent set.  Paul Lennon of the Good Child Foundation is a real inspiration and example to us all.

It was also a great opportunity to spend a few hours with many from the CQN community, always a treat.  I know one CQN’er who is going to think twice before digging up Tom (“get your facts right”) Boyd on the blog again, just in case our former treble winning captain reads it and goes looking for him on a night out.

To continue the spirit of what we are all about, on Saturday 19th May there is a charity dinner in Glasgow for The Andrea Kearney Fund, which supports women who are diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy.  The fund in memory of Andrea, who was diagnosed while expecting her fifth child and died in 2008, aged 41.

It promises to be a great night for an important cause, I hope you can support it.  You can book tickets here.  I look forward to seeing you there.

You can buy a hard copy of the new issue of CQN Magazine via Magcloud here.

Imagine for decades you knew you were being cheated.

You just couldn’t prove it. People told you “rubbish”, “you’re paranoid” etc etc.

Then it came to light that you HAD been cheated, documentary proof, evidence of such was in the public domain.

But the same people whop told you you were wrong and paranoid, now stated that you need the cheats. It’s ACTUALLY good for you.

Your own club say nothing. They could and should have put their shoulder publicly behind integrity.

    What do you do ?

Go with the cheats and try and try to beat them on their loaded terms ?

Celtic MUST state their opinion, even if it’s a lone voice of what’s right.

The true value of “sporting integrity” as revealed by an SPL subsidy junkie:-

Michael Johnston, Kilmarnock chairman, said today in justifying the admittance of NewOrcco to the SPL:-

“Member clubs are mindful of a sporting integrity aspect but the commercial benefits outweigh that.”

Johnston talks some amount of rubbish and contradicts himself everytime he opens his mouth.

Kilmarnock are the oldest football club in Scotland, I`m sure. Founded in 1869 or something like that. I thought they were established as a self sufficient entity, not to be a gimp that is dependent on pocket money from Rangers. Has their entire 143 year existence been made possible only thanks to the presence of Rangers in the same league as them for much of that time?

Johnston was the main agitator who was determined to change the SPL voting rules only a few weeks ago, and if I recall correctly the thrust of his argument was that Celtic and Rangers were not Scottish football, they had too much power, that there would be no league without the Gang of 10, and if push came to shove, the other clubs could survive on their own without Celtic and Rangers. Now he claims other clubs would go bust without Rangers. Hypocrite!

This season Kilmarnock played one home match against Rangers. The attendance was 9,506.

This compares to attendances against other teams as follows:-

    Motherwell 4,867 and 6,878

    Hibernian 4,182 and 4,283

    Hearts 5,328 and 4,327

    Dunfermline 4,222 and 4,016

    St Johnstone 4,059 and 3,768

    Celtic 8,011 and 15,926

    Inverness 5,626 and 3,848

    Aberdeen 4,367 and 3,893

    Dundee Utd 4,007

    St Mirren 5,986 and 3,645

Kilmarnock`s average home attendance in games excluding Celtic and Rangers is 4,547.

They are guaranteed one home game against Rangers each season. 9,506 turned up to this season`s game – an uplift of 4,959 on Kilmarnock`s average home gate.

Lets assume for the sake of convenience that these extra bodies are all Rangers fans and so are paying the higher £26 ticket price that Celtic and Rangers fans are asked to pay at Rugby Park.

That gives extra gate money of £128,934 over and above the average home gate take arising from one home game against Rangers. Of course there may well be extra costs in stewarding, policing etc attached to a game against Rangers so in real terms the gate money that Kilmarnock stand to gain each year from Rangers being in the SPL is at the top end just under £130,000 but probably much less once extra stewarding/staffing/policing costs are met.

I don`t know how much the current TV deal is worth to Kilmarnock. All I know is that it probably doesnt amount to a great deal, and I can`t see Kilmarnock`s share being greatly reduced whether Rangers are in the SPL or not.

For the sake of less than £130,000 per year sporting integrity can get stuffed according to Johnston and his fellow lodge members.

If £100,000 or so a year is so vital to these clubs` existence lets boycott away games in their middens and see what happens then.

I`m sure Johnston is concerned more about saving Rangers than Kilmarnock.

I realise I’m stretching it now but, even though they’re dealing from the bottom of the deck, the two contract issue will ultimately prove to be the Smith & Wesson to their four Aces.

    Thanks for the reply.

What ifs…its all what ifs at the minute. Its great to read all the possible scenarios on here, some or none may pan out but I will wait until the board respond to this effing fiasco not if its making before formulating my own position. From all reports on how PL replied to straight forward questions last night I am not certain to be supporting Celtic and Scottish football next year. It will really pain me but what would the bloody point be? To be cheated in every game we play in Scotland? To see Neil Lennon getting kicked around both physically and by Scottish football authorities and in the media without any recourse? To have vile sectarianism thrown at us from the scum (not just huns, by the way) every week? Meanwhile, the filth have being cheating us and the paying public for decades and will, more than likely, get away with a slap on the wrist and a finger wagging.

I will wait and see how this all turns out, though I have as much faith in UEFA in dealing with this crap properly as I have in SFA/SPL…zero. As much as Scottish Football needs overhauling so do UEFA.
