If you want to know why this clubs is special…

The Celtic Supporters Association Rally in the Kerrydale Suite last night was a complete joy.  On the way out I remarked that the club was in good hands with the Association.  This was their 64th annual rally, over generations they have protected and cultured the unique spirit of our football club.

For me, it was the third opportunity in a week to hear the Thai Tims, who performed an excellent set.  Paul Lennon of the Good Child Foundation is a real inspiration and example to us all.

It was also a great opportunity to spend a few hours with many from the CQN community, always a treat.  I know one CQN’er who is going to think twice before digging up Tom (“get your facts right”) Boyd on the blog again, just in case our former treble winning captain reads it and goes looking for him on a night out.

To continue the spirit of what we are all about, on Saturday 19th May there is a charity dinner in Glasgow for The Andrea Kearney Fund, which supports women who are diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy.  The fund in memory of Andrea, who was diagnosed while expecting her fifth child and died in 2008, aged 41.

It promises to be a great night for an important cause, I hope you can support it.  You can book tickets here.  I look forward to seeing you there.

You can buy a hard copy of the new issue of CQN Magazine via Magcloud here.

The graphic below is just for a flick through, to read the magazine go here to it’s dedicated site.

They will be impaired for a few years not crippled. Then 10 years from now it will be as if nothing ever happened. The huns will be back as they always have been and the football symbol that is their vanguard will be even stronger and their grand children will still be huns.

And already the Celtic support will be blamed as the only people for Celtics demise, of course the board will have played no part in driving away the Celtic support, emotional blackmail is not an argument.

    Victims forever eh

Sit at the back of the bus and do nothing

The board have placed commercial considerations higher then sporting integrity, but it will be the supporters fault if anything bad happens for not blindly following the hypocrites at the top.

    Typical lock tugging argument.

  3. Michael Johnston highlighted the disgraceful decision to ban his namesake Ben from athletics for doping and cheating. ‘Athletics needed Ben. They are nothing without Ben. Crowds fell and Carl Lewis had no challenge. Sporting integrity should have given way to financial gain, and we should have seen a strong healthy Ben straight back into top class athletics.’. Watch this space for the Kilmarnock chairman’s defence of crowd pulled Lance Armstrong and house wife’s favourite, Lester Piggott.

See what your saying, but there’s an even better option in my opinion… we get at least 13 in a row, which will include 10 with them back in the SPL, therefore breaking all records and binning any “tainted” talk

I’d be happy with that :-)

I think if the bored of Celtic PLC are acting on the short term benefit of its major stakeholders and not the wishes of its fans by either supporting Newco in the SPL or doing so implicitly by abstaining/doing nothing they are making a big mistake. So far I know nothing of their current modus operandi. I view it in 3 stages since the donut and more explicitly since PL took over.

    1. What are the huns doing? invest accordingly.

    2. Since “thems” left this sketch for a pound…do nothing and wait and see.

Since Administration…do nothing and wait and see.

    3. Next Step:

    a) “support/abstain/vote no” Newco in the SPL

    b) “support/abstain/vote no Newco” in Div 3

    c) Lawsuit..sue the SPL/SFA for complicity in these crimes and obliterate

the whole structure as these crimes have been committed explicitly to

    the detriment of Celtic.

    d) something else? any ideas?

Is there any vision at all? I dont know. However, it is going to be interesting.

If they waste this opportunity or encourage Newco in any way even by omission then Celtic deserve whatever hun hand they are dealt and I and thousands of others wont be participating any more.

  8. Gordon – Of course Platini is stronger BUT that only matters if UEFA choose to exercise the power they have (remember UEFA have treated the multiple excesses of the Huns and horrible racism from spanish fans with kid gloves).

UEFA will accede the wishes of the member association (SFA) which will be to allow Rangers into the SPL ‘for the good of the game in Scotland’.

It’s horrible I know but when was sporting integrity ever paramount in football. If it was, there would have been an investigation into refereeing in Scotland years ago.

I live in England. Apart from the good work of Alex Thomson (mostly on the Channel website btw) the Rangers story has barely registered down here.

There will be no outside intervention in this matter.

Michael Johnston says clearly that financial considerations come before sporting integrity.

Michel Platini has based Financial Fair Play on a principle that embodies the exact opposite.

  11. Respect and honour to Bobby Sands MP

As well as to all the other victims of the troubles in the occupied part of Ireland.

Last night curtesy of YouTube I watched some material on people who had been caught up in the events in Ireland since the mid 1960s

The overwhelming feature that came over was the sheer ordinariness of the people concerned

These were young men and women engulfed by circumstances not of their own making but who responded with moral and physical bravery against what must have seemed like almost impossible odds

Far too many had to give up their lives and liberty

Without doubt they made many mistakes and caused death, injury and suffering to many innocent people

However the position of their community is much better today than it was in 1969

We as a club face a situation that has a few similarities as these people faced back then

    We are in a minority

We are unpopular because of what we represent

We are faced with a corrupt and biased establishment

We either cave in and go along with the farce that Scottish football and Scottish society would become if this newco is allowed in to the SPL or we oppose it with every weapon at our disposal

We have some weapons and have to trust that our board share the feelings of the support

We have men of intellect and ability that should be capable of taking care of the pygmies in Scottish football

The statement by the chairman of KFC gives a clear indication of the poverty of thought and alarmingly conscience that permeates Scotland.

I for one cannot believe that someone as competitive and hard nosed as DD will just roll over for the huns – especially when the extent of their cheating is finally revealed

If we do the our club and Scottish football will be finished

Perhaps not now or right way but make no mistake – if sporting integrity is sacrificed for short term financial gain – then the game is over and the cheats will have won

The old adage ” Fool me once – shame on you. Fool me twice – shame on me”

    seems to cover this situation

Much as I love my club and ST and shares – I have no wish or desire to continue to contribute to a corrupt game which is stacked against us

Last year I felt we were approaching the end when our manager and people were being attacked

No game or sport is worth people being attacked and possibly killed

This year the threat might not be so apparent but to me it is just as serious

The purpose of our club is to play football – if that sport is corrupt then we have to decide if we want to be corrupt as well

Ordinary people in other places have shown the moral and physical courage to challenge corruption – we have to do the same!

  12. As an away travelling supporter I am not in favour of any sort of boycott……..however, after reading Kilmarnock chairman comments, tweeted by Jane Lewis, I would now back a boycott of rugby park without question. For this to work, all supporter clubs, groups and the club must be considered. If this is to happen it must be unanimous and organised.

People who turn up every week to support Celtic will continue to do so.

They are the lifeblood of our club and will stick by Celtic regardless of what happens with other clubs.

  14. I happen to believe TFOD are only here now because the hordes would be at DEFCON 1 right now if they were otherwise.

Similar to the reasons why the FTT was held behind closed doors.

When the season is finished we will see who pulls the plug, but I think it is just a case of how they are going to do it without making themselves a target for the hordes.

At the end of the day it’s always someone else’s fault when things don’t go their way………..

  17. The only reason der hun are still functionally “alive” is they are already in an incubator…the voodoo politics of the “Masonic Incubator” has been maintaining them…any other club would have ran out of oxygen, been sent to the morgue & buried deep in the soil of no-return.

I am certain they are doomed…the Scottish football authorities if they conspire in parachuting newhun into the top table will be swept up in a huge political shitstorm whipped up by HMRC. This situation is beyond the manipulation trouser rolling lobbyists of the Masonic brethren…in a digital age of greater transparency with so many outside agencies such as UEFA,

I am with Kitalba though, hypothetical outcomes, even Paul 67 cannot nail one down. I believe that GordonJ is on the right track with the licensing thing.

  27. It’s my understanding that Celtic haven’t commented yet. This will happen soon after they vote and justify their position. So far we have hearsay, albeit from a respected poster, but hearsay all the same and Chic Young. Chic says we may be allies for Rangers-do I need to go any further? The man is a cheerleader for them and repeats the same old tired mantras such as that one today.

I was talking to a friend of mine about Bobby the other day – there is no doubt, we concluded, that he would have gone on to great things in life as he did in death.

Interesting about your father BTW. Was there a documentary on that escape on TG4 a few months back?

    =======

I am not sure about the T4 doc, need to check with the folks back home. To be honest the INLA Volunteers have been somewhat reticent about coming forward to discuss the escape in 1976. My father rarely spoke about it even to his family.

The escape itself was straight from the script of a WW2 escape movie. Their selecting who would escape, improvising tunnelling equipment and tunnel ventilation systems right up to their being pursued by the SAS across the border. The SAS incidentally ran straight in to an Irish Army check point and were promptly captured. Apparently the Irish officer in command had to ‘dissuade’ the Irish squaddies from ‘beating the bejaysus’ out of the Brit death squad. The SAS unit was returned back across the border a few hours later.
