The Celtic Supporters Association Rally in the Kerrydale Suite last night was a complete joy. On the way out I remarked that the club was in good hands with the Association. This was their 64th annual rally, over generations they have protected and cultured the unique spirit of our football club.
For me, it was the third opportunity in a week to hear the Thai Tims, who performed an excellent set. Paul Lennon of the Good Child Foundation is a real inspiration and example to us all.
It was also a great opportunity to spend a few hours with many from the CQN community, always a treat. I know one CQN’er who is going to think twice before digging up Tom (“get your facts right”) Boyd on the blog again, just in case our former treble winning captain reads it and goes looking for him on a night out.
To continue the spirit of what we are all about, on Saturday 19th May there is a charity dinner in Glasgow for The Andrea Kearney Fund, which supports women who are diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy. The fund in memory of Andrea, who was diagnosed while expecting her fifth child and died in 2008, aged 41.
It promises to be a great night for an important cause, I hope you can support it. You can book tickets here. I look forward to seeing you there.
You can buy a hard copy of the new issue of CQN Magazine via Magcloud here.
The graphic below is just for a flick through, to read the magazine go here to it’s dedicated site.

Comments make sense now.
As already pointed out, Yorkston’s comments are based on financial grounds, not integrity or morals.
Dunfermline couldn’t pay players due to 80k owing to them from gate receipts. They are on the thin line between surviving and struggling. Dunfermline need the SPL not Rangers.
Dunfermline, if relegated, will lose TV deal, SPL gate money – including massive payout when playing Celtic – and sponsorship cash. Newco Rangers will be taking all of that from them.
If newco Rangers are not permitted entry to SPL then Dunfermline retain a TV deal of sorts – better than anything available in SFL – and retain SPL gate money, including Celtic related payout, and sponsorship cash.
Dunfermline to survive, need Rangers to die.
McDowall can contain his anger, but there is a clear feeling among the innocent staff at the club that they have been let down, by Whyte, by circumstances, by a series of opportunistic decisions. With the SFA’s 12-month registration embargo in place, pending an appeal, and players able to leave for free rather than accept their registrations transferring to Miller’s newco, Rangers could have a team of mostly young players next season.
“It’s unfair on the kids,” McDowall says. “You could finish them. It makes a mockery of the league. People think we’ve been selfish looking at it from our point of view, but it’s for the game here as well. We were talking to Peter Houston the other night and he reckons Dundee United would lose £600,000 if we weren’t in the league.”
Will Peter Houston sit and chew the fat regards sporting integrity with Neil today?
As predicted a long time ago, our only hope lies with UEFA. It is abundantly clear that the authorities in Scotland will do whatever is necessary to parachute a Newco Huns into the SPL.
The only fly in the ointment is the SFA’s commitment to the UEFA licensing process.
HMRC appear to be asleep on the job, and Celtic’s silence is now counter-productive I believe.
If we want the Huns in Div3, then it’s time to say so.

You spoil that woman!
Can’t help thinking it might have been easier for her had you slept in for an away match at,say,Motherwell.

Great minds Mate!!
This tickled me.
H.G. Wells (1866–1946). A Short History of the World. 1922.
Chapter 40 – XL. The Huns and the End of the Western Empire

Could quite easily be adapted to fit with the current scenario with the SPL.

Over the moon for our manager and he deserves everything that comes his way after last years shenanigans in this great wee country.
My mate will be hurting this morning, he says he better not win the MOTY award hes a disgrace.
I said cmon now, when he’s up in court like Sir Walter then i will worry lol, no reply back from him.

Taking the soup and being a bigot, by doing so, it would seem. :-)

I agree though i have no faith in UEFA to take control over the SFA
SFA is were the proverbial buck stops
If the recent spineless roll-over to Sally and Sandy blatant threats which mobilised the bombs and bullets morons, it is not looking good
How on earth has the compliance officer not brought Sally and Sandy to book? Sandy Jardine stood on the steps of Hampden and ridiculed the SFA, bringing the game into disrepute! Sally and Sandy rubbished the game and the SFA with the utmost clarity and transparency when the dogs of hell were released by their inane rantings
Eric Drysdale? why haven’t the results of Lord Nimmos investigation been released yet, the three man panel have been left isolated and abandoned by the SFA.
I’m not sure how long I’ve been lurking/boring others on CQN, perhaps Paul67 knows. It’s been years, I know that much. I also know It will hit me like a death in the family if this week I have to leave it behind due to developments. For that is what I will do, leave it in the past with Scottish Football.

Ditto, if Neil were arrested and charged by the police for cursing and swearing and fighting. Removed from the ground at half-time by the police and not allowed back until half an hour after the game then I would worry about him.
That is what happened to Sir Walter at Muriton in the “Walter v Totten fight”.
Starry plough
I hope there are not EBT 2nd contracts in Dwarrrrlls shreddies ,maybe that’s why he will be choking on them
hail hail
So according to the sunday herald the deal the spl will offer miller is, pay all football debts and accept whatever the judgement/sanctions (don’t laugh) of the spl enquiry into dual contracts. No points deductions, no financial penalties.
Given that the spl enquiry is a sham, Doncaster has already trivialised it, nothing will come from that so the deal in reality is pay the football creditors in this country (buy the clubs votes and the sfa’s registration) and those abroad (buy uefa’s silence), screw the rest of the creditors and everything will be hunky dory.
Speaking to a taxman friend yesterday (not a tim btw) who is adamant that Hector wants his money.
Paul
When D&D said that Miller would put the good assets ,Ibrokes ,Murky park players into a new co .
D&D ,when asked at the press conference on 20th Feb that ,
The company owning Ibrokes and Murky park WAS NOT IN ADMINISTRATION .
Do you have any info on this ,it was even discussed on ragers message boards at the time .
I have searched for the link to the PC but have come up short .
Motherwell fans yesterday….
Earlier, the small Fir Park support had been determined to add their tuppence
worth to the taunts Rangers have been obliged to endure and did so with a
banner that read: “He came from the ‘Well to send you to Hell!” – a
reference to Craig Whyte, a native of the Lanarkshire town.
Bhoys interesting salvo from Yorkston.
However I merely think this is him beginning negotiatons. This is his entry position. – sporting integrity – his and every other chairman’s exit point will be more toward their financial self interest I fear. an increased parachute payment from spl might lessen Yorkston new found concept of sporting integrity.
Celtic will fight this alone.
Is Yortston’s statement promising?
is he just making the right noises, or would Dunfermline mount a legal challenge if they were relegated in place of Rangers?
Quick decisions on rangers needed quickly as it still impacts on current season.
Next week the Play off matches will begin but what would be the point of them if rangers are relegated?
I still say relegation is too good for them – give them years of pain in SPL do not reward them with SFL championships.
Has Yorkston just done his sums? Does he realise that Dunfermline in the first division is less attractive that Dunfermline in an SPL without the huns?
I’m damned sure he hasn’t suddenly developed a conscience.
Happy Craig Whyte day!
Our hero living the dream…
Dunfermline and football integrity ?
I’m sure Sutton would have something to say about that.

Or has the Killie statement yesterday just made the ugly truth too clear? Will we see more of them squirming uncomfortable as they realise they are being judged for putting income over integrity?
Ridiculous I know, but I live in hope that decency and honour will prevail….
It still seems that everyone is stuck in the mindset of the Newco being both Rangers and not Rangers.
If it is the oldco it is liable for all of its debt. It can’t choose to pay some that happens to be owed to football clubs and not others that happen to be owed to other types of companies.
If it is the newco how can it be forced to pay any of the oldco’s debts?
Seems the plan is for the Newco to play the last match.
Wouldn’t Hector see this as a continuation of the old co. and want some money?

It’s simple, nobody wants to be seen to be the person who pulled the plug. If Bill Miller suceeds in getting ranjurz in SPL with the same ground, same fans and the the same personnel then he will have to accept the Big tax case liability (currently around £50M) and the other creditor liabilities.
As I’ve said before, omly a complete moron would invest a penny in ranjurz. The only outcome is liquidation and CW walks away with a bundle.
A “supermoon” has graced the skies, appearing bigger and brighter than usual, as it comes closer to the Earth – and is likely to bring higher tides.
The phenomenon, known as a perigee full moon, means the Moon appears up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than when it is furthest from the plane
A reckless or psychopathic individual. Derived from ‘Lunar’ which in turn is derived from the Latin word for ‘Moon’.
It used to be popular belief that insane and psychologically disturbed people had been effected by the phases of the moon.
Could explain D&D over at ibrokes, blame it all on the moon
The idea of the newco playing the last match was, as I understand it, a hypothetical plan that Paul McC came up with on his blog.
Is there any evidence of it actually being taken forward or are folk just making a big jump in logic?
For me, if the Newco plays the final match then the Oldco has failed to play and has fallen out of the eeague by default. It has done so duing the season and is therefore eliminated from the league, Dunfermline are not relegated and the Newco is left out in the cold!
Yeh. Where is hector
He is owed 20m. Plus the big tax case
C’mon hector ride in and finish them off before oldco vanishes
I know for a fact that many Pars fans have been incensed with Yorkston’s comments about Rangers having been punished enough when the Hun owed them money .
This brought about a Pilgrimage to Lorenzo’s nightspot by a hoard of appreciative Huns who held a Sash Bash in said nightsop.
So maybe the reasonable Pars fans have applied pressure to the Board and Yorkston is having to mind his language.
The language of Michael Johnston yesterday were outrageous and must anger fans of his club.
Thinking of newco playing last game.
I think the fear was/is that this is implied acceptance that newco takes oldco’s share and SPL place.
Aren’t Rangers taking the risk that by fielding newco in last game, they themselves are accepting that newco is really oldco? Could it backfire on them?
Good morning Bhoys and Ghirls
Was wondering if any of you Handsome, Intelligent, stylish, articulte, generous CQNer’s were coming to Norwich on the 22nd of May , if so I’d love to meet up for a beer or three
Hail Hail
Billy’s Bhoy – I fear you are missing the point – Celtic are supportive of the newco. Even the Dunfermline Chairman is telling you that – along with the press and Celtic’s silence.

I could get used to this!!
A wee roll with sausage and black pudding and a can of lager, now I know how our bus members feel when going to away games.:-)
