If you want to know why this clubs is special…

The Celtic Supporters Association Rally in the Kerrydale Suite last night was a complete joy.  On the way out I remarked that the club was in good hands with the Association.  This was their 64th annual rally, over generations they have protected and cultured the unique spirit of our football club.

For me, it was the third opportunity in a week to hear the Thai Tims, who performed an excellent set.  Paul Lennon of the Good Child Foundation is a real inspiration and example to us all.

It was also a great opportunity to spend a few hours with many from the CQN community, always a treat.  I know one CQN’er who is going to think twice before digging up Tom (“get your facts right”) Boyd on the blog again, just in case our former treble winning captain reads it and goes looking for him on a night out.

To continue the spirit of what we are all about, on Saturday 19th May there is a charity dinner in Glasgow for The Andrea Kearney Fund, which supports women who are diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy.  The fund in memory of Andrea, who was diagnosed while expecting her fifth child and died in 2008, aged 41.

It promises to be a great night for an important cause, I hope you can support it.  You can book tickets here.  I look forward to seeing you there.

You can buy a hard copy of the new issue of CQN Magazine via Magcloud here.

The graphic below is just for a flick through, to read the magazine go here to it’s dedicated site.

Paul67 if UEFA wont step in on the grounds of sporting integrity what are the possibilities that Celtic can sue in the courts for damages?

22 proven tainted trophies after all…not all to Celtic but the important ones yes.

  2. aldersyde avenue,

    Thanks for that.

I agree totally in a Scottish context – the rules have never been equally applied. My belief (and I may be hopeful or naive here) is that UEFA doesn’t have the same reasons to do anything other than apply its rules fairly and impartially. It wouldn’t be in its interests to set a precedent with the huns, so why do so?

Can this boycott be delivered? i certainly hope so should every SPL club next season

    Joe O;Rourke

The kilmarnock chairman better be prepared for an empty stadium.

So Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnson thinks that Rangers being kept in the SPL is more important than sporting integrity, well he better be prepared for doing without the Celtic support, because I’m certain the Celtic support will bhoycott Rugby Park next season.

Johnson has been the driving force behind the gang of ten’s new proposals for changing the rules in the SPL, I’m not surprised he backs a Rangers Newco getting an easy ride back into the SPL, and he won’t be alone, there will be a few chairmen thinking the same way.

I have written to Neil Doncaster regarding comments attributed to him, i have also made him aware that we would have a problem supporting a league that doesn’t uphold sporting integrity, i am almost certain that if a Rangers Newco is not treated appropriately, the Celtic support will take the appropriate action.

    Hi All,

Perhaps congrats are in order for Motherwell today.

It would be churlish not to acknowledge the progress being made by that club under Stuart “We’re in the champions league by default and I am absolutely gutted for my old club and first and only love” Rangers.

In the six matches the ex-Ranger’s club has played against his former glorious dignified employers the results (in chronological order) have been

    0-6

    0-5

    0-3

    0-3

    1-2

    0-0

This is clearly an improvement. So who knows ….. Perhaps next season, Stuart “Blue Through & Through & Through” McCall’s team will finally defeat the only team he has not beaten since he took over.

P.S. – two qualifiers as an unseeded team. Champions League my ar5e.

    Hail Hail

So that stuff about the life blood was really about a single cell ?

I gave my ticket up after the old firm board got into bed with them on the joint sponsorship deal for buttons.

And before you say it, I have not told anyone to give up theirs either.

I have bit my tongue over this debacle for a long time and encouraged quite a few others to do the same until we get a clear message from the board, Lawwell’s message from last night is IMO that message, keep tugging your locks Celtc supporter and accept your fleecing like to compliant little piggies you are.

  9. Gordon J – UEFA will hide behind a weasily phrase like ‘special/unique circumstances’.

I would not trust UEFA to do what is right in the same way I would not trust the SFA.

Their rules are useful when they WANT to punish a club or association.

Next season I expect the Huns to be signing ‘brittania waves the rules’ instead of he other words.

  12. Celtic fans finally move away from the back of the bus only to squash into the boot.

If this goes through with only a “STRONG worded” statement from our board then there will not be a Celtic supporter, who if they decide to return, who will have a right of complaint the next time a Willie Colm uses the eyes on the back of his head, the next time a Callum Murray refuses a stone wall penalty, the next time a “Dougie Dougie” changes his mind, the next time 5 officials collude and lie to employed Celtic officials, the next time a Mike McCurry is promoted to a position of HUNfluence…

  15. Subterranean on

It is critical that Celtic directors and executives do not get involved in loose talk. There are more than enough significant figures in Scottish football making big mistakes at the moment. The Kilmarnock Chairman has the following quote attributed to him:

“Member clubs are mindful of a sporting integrity aspect but the commercial benefits outweigh that.”

I expect UEFA will be informed, perhaps discretely, about the view of Chairman of a club that currently qualifies for a UEFA license. UEFA have an entirely different view of sporting integrity and financial fair play. Don’t they?

    Chris

  16. if the others vote for and celtic against ?there should not even be a vote,

one thing i will say if this comes to pass and i agree its a big if then surely

then no one can argue that indeed it would be a tainted title no matter who

wins it because all those participating in such a competition [sorry charade]

will have complied and were accomplice to the fact, its no good saying we

were out voted if its wrong its wrong no amount of spin will alter this fact,

and this is were morals come in you either have them or you dont that goes for

fans aswell as the clubs, the option is there for everyone to a man/woman

participate or dont its that simple when you boil it down to it,anything else is

    just excuses.

  17. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Kit,

Did you no read JF’s post ?

As for the excuses for greed I don’t need them, actions speak louder than words, refusing the joint deal would have made very little difference to the coffers.

Denying them that money would have bought this fiasco a lot sooner, but then that couldn’t be allowed especially from the old firm board.

  18. Jesus wept…

Why is this turning into a fragmentation amongst us?

Love a good reasoned debated myself but there have been rules broken that haven’t gone unpunished yet(whatever the severity of punishment to come can be debated of course).

Our Board can do eff all until they can see(in law) that our club’s interests have been compromised. That is it.

I would remind everyone that Celtic knew when written laws were obviously broken when we played FC Scion of Switzerland.

Or do you all suffer from short term memory loss?

Again you use the emotive language when really people will go to watch the team regardless of nonsense about their social standing.

I didn’t agree with the joint-sponsorship and would never buy anything with the Tennents logo on it, but look around the Celtic support at any game and you will see that the vast majority of them still buy merchandise regardless of who the sponsor is.

That is their choice. They make their decisions. It doesn’t matter what we think and the same will happen over any new club appearing on the scene. Most folk will still go to watch Celtic because Celtic is all they care about.

  22. I some are missing the point. If is as alleged that Celtic have given Tacit agreement that they will not attempt to prevent the entry of a Newco into the SPL they have once ignored the wishes of the overwhelming majority of the Celtic support. How do they expect the support to react to this latest snub? I guess that they hope the majority will shrug their shoulders whilst muttering c’est la vie. As JF pointed out we have supported their policy of fiscal prudence to the detriment of the playing staff for what purpose! The board have ignored the most moderate of attempts at mediation from the support over issues such as the Poppy debacle while churning out the same old line ‘hands tied, regulations you know, little we can do blah blah blah. In any of the meeting that the support had with PL did anything he say or promise actually come to fruition or was it all word politic ie B/S.

Well PL take a wee look over your shoulder and you’ll see an institution that has blatantly subverted and broken every rule regarding fair play and fiscal prudence yet after being handed a slap on the wrists by you, you’ll happily have them competing with us for the SPL title within 3 -4 seasons.

Suck it up Timmy – keep quiet and the back of the bus for you Bhoy, oh and bye the way we are also going to take more money off you to help support the other clubs who voted NewHuns FC back into the SPhell.
