IFS, BUTS AND MAYBES AS LENNON CLAIMS HIBS SHOULD BE LEAGUE LEADERS

1

NEIL LENNON has made the bizarre claim Hibs should be leading Celtic at the top of the Premiership.

The former Hoops gaffer reckons his team should be the pacesetters ahead of the club that has just smashed their own 100-year UK record of 63 unbeaten domestic games.

Lennon has seen his side win four matches in a row with a 2-1 victory over Dundee sending them just two points behind second-placed Aberdeen.

It’s their best top-flight run since 2011, but the Easter Road chief insists it could have been even better.

He said: “We should have won at Dundee earlier in the season, we should have won at St Johnstone and we were 2-0 up against Motherwell.

“That’s six points dropped and if we had not dropped them we would be top of the table.

“The players are in a really good place at the moment, there’s a real belief about them and their fitness levels are excellent.”

Lennon also praised the support for the atmosphere they created in the recent 1-0 win over Hearts.

He added: “There was a real connection between the players and fans, probably the best I have experienced other than an Edinburgh derby.

“The atmosphere was absolutely electric, the fans could see the players needed lifted and they really got behind the team.

“You could see what it means to the players so everyone deserves a pat on the back.”
