Ignore the delightful and the dreadful

141

The best news of the week is the return to action of three injured central defenders.  Cameron Carter-Vickers, out since April recuperating after an operation, started last night’s game.  He was partnered by new-signing Maik Nawrocki.  Both were swapped out at halftime but should be ready for a fuller challenge against Ross County on Saturday.

Carl Starfelt returned to action for the second half, where he partnered Liam Scales.  While it is great to see Cameron, Maik and Carl all fit to play, surely Brendan Rodgers will give Liam the nod on Saturday?  He is likely to be the only one from this group fit enough for 90 minutes.

Also returning from injury, Anthony Ralston will be confident of starting against Ross County.  Tomoki Iwata is not a fullback and was undone by a simple ball over the top, allowing Athletic to re-take the lead immediately after Reo Hatate scored Celtic’s first equaliser.

These games are not about results or performances, so I would ignore the delightful and the dreadful moments in our play last night, they are not indicators of the season ahead.  There is a lot of fitness work to do, and a lot of systems to learn, before we will be ready to judge anyone.

If thems win, they’ll be seeded in the play off round and would play either Marseille or the winners of PSV/Sturm Graz.

    Excellent!

Either of those two (PSV or Marseille) would likely beat them over two legs.

Hopefully the Swiss side put them out and wont even need to worry about that. 😂👍

Huns knocked out PSV before, hopefully they PSV will take the draw more seriously if they are again tied together.

Aye, but that was under GVB, who seemed to have a knack of the European ties. As their route to the final with only 7 wins from 21 games proves.

Don’t think Beale will have the same luck or impact.

  5. PRESTONPANS, I watched the PSV v THEMS 2nd leg last season. PSV had at least 6 chances to score – missed sitters, hit woodwork, the Beast had a couple of amazing saves. Then their CB passed back to the keeper but didn’t and Colac ( the future most fantastic striker who was dumped by the Hun before season’s end) passed the ball in to the net, one of only two attempts on target the whole game.

Surely the feck they would realise this time that just because they were/are better than the Hun that they still have to be professional and apply themselves properly!?

    Re above…

I should have mentioned that Marseille also have a 3rd round tie – against Panathinaikos – before they can progress to the play off round.

Wouldn’t mind seeing the reaction of the Hunnerati to the big shamrocks on the Greeks’ shirts…

    Quick check, restart your pc

Short term solution is press “F5” or “ctrl plus R”

Longer solution is to go into settings and update

Longer even still, uninstall and then reinstall

  15. A lot of especially American sports and celebrities are investing in quite few football clubs in England ,the latest being Tom Brady ,shows how bad things are here in the Scottish Leagues ,that they have no interest here ,

  16. Do not really want to comment on the GB in general, but I hope if they have a tifo for our unveiling of the flag match that it does not prohibit the rest of us from seeing the flag being raised. Last season I put down my sheet of paper to see the unveiling as did several around me . I will be there on Saturday to thank our team for the great season we had last time round and see the flag marking one of the trophies we received. Please let all of us see the unveiling. More important especially for young ones seeing it for the first time.
