The stats tell an enticing story, Milan have played thirteen competitive games since beating Celtic and won only two, but you can forget about them right now. Celtic are good enough to take three points tomorrow but it will require a perfect match plan if they are to do so.
This fixture will hold no fears for Celtic, who have been over similar ground many times before, but they face players vastly more experienced at playing the intensity of football which will be on display tomorrow evening. If we are to get anything from the game, we will have to subvert a team who will enjoy the majority of possession and territorial advantage, with impeccable defending and expert finishing.
We got it spectacularly wrong against Italian opposition last season, who were considerably weaker than the Spanish opponents who left Celtic Park empty handed, overwhelmingly as a consequence of diverging from the game plan which left Barcelona scrambling for a consolation goal. This is football at a remarkably unforgiving level, as Juventus let us know; you’re not in the SPFL now, Dorothy.

OLDCO Rangers have received a further £1million from the sale of former star Nikica Jelavic – but creditors won’t see a penny of it.
Joint liquidators BDO wrote to 276 creditors this month informing them of the windfall but warning them they were unlikely to get any of the cash.
The letter said a payment of £995,000 had been received and they were expecting a further £1.058million in May 2014.
The payments relate to the transfer of striker Jelavic, who left Ibrox for Everton in January 2012 in a deal worth £5million.
Alan Duncan, who worked as the club’s kids’ entertainer and is still owed more than £2000, said: “I haven’t had a single penny of what I am owed.
“The Jelavic money should be used to pay the businesses they owe money to but it’s clear they have no intentions of doing that.
“I don’t think I will ever see the money I am owed.
“I was a Rangers fan and I employed six others to work there but they lost their jobs too.
“I am just peed off by the whole thing.”
The letter from BDO also revealed that the liquidators made a whopping £635,000 acting on Rangers’ behalf between October 2012 and March this year.
Legal fees of more than £500,000 have also been paid out to various firms using cash from the liquidation estate.

AC Milan may be a poor team this season, but they are a poor Italian team, from a country that drew with Germany a week or so back. Looking back I note that only one Celtic player on the books played in our 2-1 victory back in 2007, one er Scott Brown. Kaka played that night too, and looks like he might play tomorrow. On paper the 2007 Milan team looks stronger than the present outfit, while Celtic look much on a par, except we had Scott McDonald up front in those days. Even so they are not Barcelona and expect to have a fair bit of possession, and hopefully some good forward movement on our part. Great times!

I have worked there often in the last 20 years. The Hoops shirt always gets a warm reception. The pub at the Railway station was always a good Tim pub too.

Ranger’s went into liqudation and forfieted their spl membership ,the owner of their membership went to club 12 ,who were Dundee who came up from the old first division.
This is where there is a break in there history ,because they never had ANY membership for any league’s in Scotland .they had no where to play ,because they were just a new club trying to get invited into Scottish football .
And that, in a beautiful nutshell, is the beginning and the end of the story. Everything else is bluster.

Will check it out next time down, cheers. Never new about your stats or the Priest town, but it makes sense. Was once told by an old Tim in

Oops, was told that Cumbria was the most Catholic County in England.
no way should celtic be thinking about spending upwards of 3 million for a 17 year old from Dundee united after just 25 or so games. if he was in our set up he’d be nowhere near the first team.
we have plenty of talented kids in our own set up who cant make into the first team.
daft question time, but pardon my ignorance,
confused by earlier posts regarding how we could finish in the group, so , help me.
if the 3 or 2 outside of barca, finish on the same total points, how is it decided who goes through
is it
(a) results against Barca are discounted, and its results against the others to form a new mini league points total
(b) head to hear results against those with same points
(c) goal difference.
too compicated, just win the next two games celtic.
ps, i was sure i was told before, yorkshire has englands biggest catholic population

Not sure about Cumbria but Preston is indeed derived from ‘Priest’s Town’.
I went to college there 20-odd years ago and when my PP in Drumchapel heard I was going he said: “Ah! Proud Preston – kept the faith.”

So the Jelavik money goes to the liquidators BDO .
Now if BDO are liquidating something and it clearly isn’t CWs company vehicle for buying Ragers 1872 as someone failed to have that company struck off last month .
Who does that leave .

Up like a bird @ 19:17,
“Ranger’s went into liqudation and forfieted their spl membership ,the owner of their membership went to club 12 ,who were Dundee who came up from the old first division.”
Very true, now I don’t know if you read my e-mail to Stewart Regan…
And I’m not sure how the technicalities work but NewCo were sold RFC(ia)’s share in the SPL, why they can sell this I’m not sure, but apparently they can.
Suffice to say with share in hand, if NewCo were the same Club, I can see no grounds why they would have to apply to be part of the League, as you say their expulsion must have been due to the Liquidation of Rangers.
So the SPL must have viewed them as a different Club, a point I make in the e-mail (and received no comment).
So I’m not trying to suggest the transfer of SFA membership determines the status of SevCo OCNC – as the wiser than I have pointed out, if it were the same Club why would a transfer be necessary????
Yet if the “entity” had a different SFA membership the President could not have intimated SevCo was Rangers or our Auld rival, though the fact that they did transfer it raises huge question IMO.
If you read the provisions of the Articles of Association – 14.1 you can see my dug – being an entity – could have been transferred the membership if it applied for and the SFA Board deemed it so.
BTW I don’t have a Dug.
Hail Hail

If we, Ajax & Milan end up in 6 pts , us having beat Milan tomorrow, loosing in the Nou Camp and Ajax drawing with both Barca & Milan , we go through as results against Barca discounted and both Milan & Ajax will have taken a point each from them!!

Re your comment “Celtic’s conclusion is that the boy is at the right team at the moment. Leave him where is and let him grow”
What does that say about the players who are at our club, or, to the parents of youngsters who have a choice of where to sign?
I have long thought we need a serious look at our youth system.
A great example is Dylan McG , we signed him from 3rd Lanark or some other defunct team, he scored a cracker on his debut, and subsequently he has gone nowhere.
Tomorrow night out of an 18 man squad we are likely to have two who came through our system – we can dress that up whatever way we like, but the promised land of youth development is no nearer today than it was 5 /10/15 years ago. In fact, read our annual results and the year on year commentary on youth development is remarkably similar.
Good luck to Gauld, personally I think we should seriously consider dumping our whole youth system , keep some form of community clubs, re-invest the cash in buying a couple of guys at 19/20/21 each season Gauld, and / or possibly sponsor someone else’s system allowing us first picks.
Long 2 – Villa 0
Bloooter it
You will have no problem, the light above the turnstile flashes to indicate a concession, but no problem.
£2/3m should get us Gauld and McKay Steven which falls into our model of buying youngsters to develop and sell on….
I would also like to see some promotion through the youth ranks, maybe once we are into the later stages of the season, we will see some of the young guns getting a go. Speaking of which the under 19s v Milan is on Eurosport tomorrow at 2.45

Clash, I think the problem is the yawning gap between our youth teams and the first team.
We have had fabulous prospects coming up and starring in the under-19s.
But the youth set-up brings these players on to that stage and after the under 19s there’s nothing – well, either the first-team squad, or nothing.
I think we are pretty good at bringing youngsters through from an early age. But we need a reserve side. At the moment we bring the kids through till they’re 18 or so, then scatter them to clubs all over Britain because there is no development link between that stage and the first team. A reserve side/Celtic 2 in a lower division would sort that.
That is where our youth policy is failing IMO.
