CELTIC’S move to bring back Kelechi Iheanacho broke down following wage demands from the striker.
Initially, it looked as though a two-year contract had been agreed with the Nigerian international who joined the champions as a free agent last September following his release from Sevilla.
A weekly £12,000-per-week – rising to £17,000 in bonus add-ons – had originally been given the green light by the player’s agent, according to a report in the Glasgow Times.
However, the advisor came off the radar as the Hoops hierarchy attempted to get the deal sealed.
Phone calls and emails from the club remained unanswered and the reason became clear when the news was announced Iheanacho, who will be 30 in October, had signed a three-year contract with Turkish club Bursaspor, as CQN reported last night.
Earlier in the week, the agent for the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward had returned to the negotiating table to make fresh demands for wages of £47,000-per-week for his client.
Forty-eight hours later it emerged Iheanacho had signed for the club who played in the Turkish second division last season.
