‘I’M A GOOD BHOY NOW,’ BAILLY

The former Belgian international had a reputation for fast cars and fast living, but the experienced shot-stopper is now concentrating completely on life at the SPFL champions.

Bailly saved a penalty-kick on his debut in the 4-1 win over La Liga outfit Eibar at the weekend.

The ex-Borussia Munchengladbach No.1 emphasised: “All this stuff, this is the past. I’m 29 and more mature. I’m a different person now.

“A keeper is always a little bit crazy. When I was 20 or 21, I made some mistakes.

“But you learn from life. That is all in the past.

“I have two children now who are 11 and five. They are the most important thing for me.

“And is there room in a Ferrari for a child seat? No!”

Bailly played for Belgium at every level from under-16s up to the full team, his potential seemingly exploited to the full when he became one of the top keepers in Germany.

But when he ended up back in Belgium, it looked as though the rest of his career could only be on a downward trajectory.

Now he believes he’s climbing back up to the top.

He said: “Every player dreams of playing at a big club. When I came back from Germany, I went to
Switzerland and then home.

“I was there for three years and every day I woke up and went to training with hope.

“Now I have signed for Celtic, I wake up and see the chance I have to be part of this club.

“Before I joined Celtic, I heard a lot about it – about the fans, the team and the history.

“Now I see why everybody knows Celtic. It is unbelievable.”
