‘I’M HERE TO STAY,’ RONNY

0

RONNY DEILIA has revealed he fully expects to remain as Celtic manager if he delivers the Premiership title this season.

The Norwegian watched his side beat Inverness Caley Thistle 3-0 yesterday to move six points clear of Aberdeen and the win keeps him on course to claim a second successive championship since taking over from Neil Lennon in the summer of 2014.

Consecutive failures to guide the club to the group stages of the Champions League has brought criticism for Deila and he recently admitted that he would be sacked if the club did not win the league.

There remains some questions about how secure his future is, but the boss is adamant he has been given no indication from the club’s hierarchy that his position is under threat.fyc0L4jvNVZI04Oe6yOVogHC9RojxOV2C8DiEQ8Khno

And, having been given licence to recruit a number of new signings this year, with teenage Norwegian midfielder Kristoffer Ajer the latest to sign last week, the former Stromsgodset gaffer is clearly under the impression he is at Parkhead for the forseeable future – if the flag is delivered.
He said: “I really, really expect to be here next season and that’s what I want, of course.
“There is so much to do here and it’s a very exciting team coming through now, with a lot of young talented players. Together with the experienced ones, things can be very good.

“I really want to continue and make this club successful. You don’t get any assurances in football, but what we have is communication and we communicate very well.

“But this question comes every week now and it’s getting tiring to talk about. You tell me it’s about results and now we are winning.

“We are in a good situation, but if you start losing games it will become very even again. If we win games the others need to cope with that, which will be tough.”

The Hoops can go nine points ahead of the Dons if they beat Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Friday evening.
