‘I’M READY – LET’S GO,’ ROARS NEW BHOY

SHIM MHEUKAhas just sealed a season-long loan to Celtic from Chelsea – and the teenage striker could be handed an opportunity to become an instant hero.

The highly-rated youngster, who has just signed a five-year contract at the London club, has been named among the stand-by squad for the Premiership encounter against Aberdeen at Parkhead this evening.

Mheuka is just one of three recruits to get the nod from Martin O’Neill for a place on the bench along with Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone and Parma midfielder Oliver Sorensen.

The lively frontman is hoping to hit the ground running and he said: “It’s amazing. Walking in, I could feel the echo and the surround sound of the stadium. You almost feel the history as you walk in.

“It’s a real feeling. I wish everyone could feel it, an amazing feeling and I’m so, so happy to be here.

“This is something that I’ve been doing since I was a little kid. And to be able to do it in front of the Celts, the fans and show my ability in front of them, it’s something that I can’t wait to do.

“It’s almost a feeling of excitement rather than nerves.

“I can’t wait to score at Celtic Park. You know, I’ll be chasing that feeling every game, every chance that I get.

“I’m eager, if you can’t tell, so, yeah, I’m ready. Let’s go.”

Boss O’Neill, speaking to CelticPlayer, continued: “Shim has great quality, hence Chelsea extending his contract, however I think this period of his career, spent with us, will be beneficial to him and obviously to us.

“I look forward to working with him. He is a player who can give us another great attacking dimension and I’m sure he will make an important contribution to Celtic.”

Mheuka will be joined in Glasgow with his Chelsea team-mate Landon Emenalo, who has also signed a temporary transfer at the champions.

The 18-year-old left-back has been a key player in the Stamford Bridge’s Under-21s has featured in first-team squads.

Like Mheuka, Emenalo expressed his delight at the move and said: “It feels great to have joined Celtic, such a big club with a massive history. I knew a bit about Celtic, but I realised just how big the club is when I first visited.

“I know the club has such a huge support and that the fans here are so passionate, so I’m going to do my best for them every time I play.

“To have the chance to play for Celtic is very exciting. It fills me with confidence and I’m so happy that the club wanted to have me.

“I have spoken to the manager and he’s a great guy with a lot of experience and a great coach, so I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
