CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers hailed Scott Brown as a legend – and revealed he is ready to offer the skipper a new deal.
The 32-year-old skipper’s current contract expires at the end of the season, but the Hoops gaffer is determined to kick off talks to extend the midfielder’s at Parkhead into a second decade.
Brown, who was bought by Gordon Strachan from Hibs for £4.4million, has won an amazing THIRTEEN trophies in 10 glittering years at the club.
“Scott is someone I want here while I’m here, that’s for sure. He’s a remarkable player who will go down as one of the greatest captains in the club’s history,” said the boss.
“He’s done it over the course of 10 years here, but what he did last season puts him alongside the greatest captains.
“Scott’s still hungry and driven to keep winning and performing. You see the level he’s at. He has turned 32, but is coming in to an exciting period in his career.
“He’s definitely someone I’ll be looking to do something win. He and I have talked about it a few times.
“He’ll be around for another few years just yet.”
“I’m sure a testimonial will be a part of the negotiations. I mean, goodness me, to play for a club like Celtic for that length of time, and to survive in that environment, with its intensity and the pressures on you, as he has done for those number of years, is remarkable,” Rodgers added.
“So, I think that will all come into it. He has been a truly inspirational and brilliant player, as well as the club captain.”
