‘I’M READY TO GO,’ NEW BHOY

LEWIS MORGAN insists his success in St Mirren’s Championship-winning campaign will benefit him at Celtic.

The left-sided midfielder, 21, agreed a four-and-a-half year deal after his £300,000 transfer from the Paisley outfit in January.

Brendan Rodgers loaned the Scotland hopeful back to Jack Ross’ team to help them in their push for a place in the Premiership which was achieved with Morgan, the division’s Player of the Year, contributing 14 goals in 35 appearances.

The youngster, who has been brought into Alex McLeish’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Peru and Mexico, said: “From January, when I knew the deal was going to happen, I’ve been chomping at the bit to get going.

“It’s exciting now. The boys will have a few weeks off and then we’ll be back for pre-season and I’m really looking forward to it.

“Winning the title this year was great and seeing what Celtic have achieved was brilliant, as well. I think that winning mentality is something that I need and I’ve gained experience in that aspect this year.

“Certainly, at a club like this you need to be winning games and winning trophies, so, hopefully, that will stand me in good stead.”

Morgan admitted he was unfazed by the task ahead and would ensure he was ready for when his opportunity comes.

He added: “Definitely. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have signed. I’ve got to be confident in myself and if the manager has brought me here, it’s for a reason. I know it’s up to myself to try and get into the team because the boys are doing so well.

“I’ll have to respect that. I might have to wait my turn, bide my time, but when the chance comes I’ll have to make sure I take it.”
