Impact of new signings already evident

The impact of our new signings is already evident.  Kieran Tierney did what Kieran Tierney does: knocked the ball beyond his defender, beat him in the sprint and threw in a dangerous cross.  Benjamin Nygren found space inside the box and made no mistake when he met Kieran’s cross.

Benji turned provider for Reo Hatate to double the lead midway through the second half as Celtic eased to the win with no sign of the trouble they had last time against Aberdeen.

Despite the control they had in the game, Celtic still looked rusty.  Daizen Maeda was unusually quiet, then he was oh-so-usually wasteful when clean through with only the keeper to beat.

Whatever the plan is to get the ball to Adam Idah, it is clearly not working.  The big striker cannot be singled out for blame on this point.  This term has started with Brendan Rodgers benching two of last summer’s expensive signings, the manager will be reluctant to sit Adam alongside Auston Trusty and Arne Engels.

Declining the opportunity to postpone our next league fixture (home to Livingston) now looks like a good call.  We have the incentive to put clear blue water between us and others.  The season may only be two games old, but it already has the juices flowing.

  1. Nygren & Tierney showed well…what other quality signings passed muster…oh, that’s right…we don’t have any. Disgrace of a transfer period. Still no replacement for Kyogo, still no replacement for Khun. Scales was and is a disaster waiting to happen

Shinnie knows that Mr Rodgers would be too nice to mention it.

  3. Looked up Andy Irving’s highlights reel on YouTube and… he doesn’t seem to have one in the classic sense.

Edinburgh-born, ex Hearts, Berwick, Falkirk, Turku Munchen and Klagenfurt strong midfielder cheekily described as the Scottish Gullit ! If we do lose a middy to accomodate him, it’s surely Senor Bernardo.

Either this is pretty much in the bag and only needs Liverpool to stump up €10m more ….

(In which case they’ll likely punt a barely known reserve player for that amount to create the financial capacity)

This young man is taking a huge gamble.

All good wishes and prayers for your mum. The much maligned medical folks esp surgeons and those folks who nurse and care are amazing. I am sure she will be in good hands today.

I was reflecting after John Fallons funeral yesterday. When he joined Celtic we had won just 4 trophies in 20 years.

Yet these folk are speaking of boycotting a club which has dominated football domestically almost like no other for 25 years.

I doubt any one could name a player we should actually sign who right now would want to come play in Scotland.

We have a manager with millions to spend and no one good enough, who will come here, to spend it on.

It’s seems we can’t even keep those we have right now. Despite having plenty of money.

I am totally unsure why people see anyone gaining from the current situation. It certainly is not any benefit to owners unless they are taking money out of the business.

As the most transparent club in Scotland we know this not to be so.

    I don’t get it.
