Imperious Celic win with gears to spare

244

Despite a good result at Easter Road, Celtic were unable to put any distance between themselves and nearest challengers, Aberdeen, who matched their two-goal win at home to St Mirren.

It took less than three minutes for Nicolas Kuhn to open the scoring against Hibernian with a peach of a goal.  Kyogo’s shot was spilled by Bursik in the Hibs goal, James Forrest was first to react and smashed the ball low across the face of goal.  The ever-alert Kuhn was on his toes and slid the ball into the empty net at the far post.

Callum McGregor doubled the advantage with what will surely be goal of the month in 19 minutes with a thunderous shot from 26 yards.  The main surprise by halftime was that Celtic’s advantage was not greater.  Hibs only consolation was that they were facing Celtic, not Dundee.

The second half was largely a different story.  Poor distribution by both central defenders, and on one occasion by Kasper Schmeichel, and a drop-off in movement in the middle of the park, allowed Hibs some time on the ball inside the Celtic half.  They threatened and (if they were any better) could have narrowed the gap, but Celtic always had a few gears to move up.

It is early days but the three-in-a-row champions are already looking imperious.

SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2024-25

RESULTS FROM GAME #2 HIBS 0 CELTIC 2 (KUHN, McGREGOR)

    Good evening, friends.

Another excellent performance yesterday as our yellow shirts dazzled in the sunshine on Leith with an opening half hour of quite scintillating football. Hibs were lucky to get to the break only 2 goals down. And even though our 2nd half performance dropped off a little we remained comfortable throughout and left with the 3 points and another clean sheet.

It only took us 3 minutes to open the scoring, and this was James Forrest at his best. The replay from the camera behind Kaspar’s goal highlighted his play perfectly. As Kyogo was heading towards the box, James initially planned to run through the middle. But on realising that Kyogo was going to shoot, James quickly shifted to the left, anticipating the keeper’s parry and knowing that a pass across would find Kuhn facing an empty net. A great goal.

Captain Calmac was having a fantastic game, controlling everything. And in the 18th minute, with confidence sky high, he hit a left foot rocket, cutting across the ball from 25 yards, leaving the Hibs keeper with no chance.

There were plenty of further chances throughout the remaining 70 minutes but in the end a 2 goal win at a ground which has been one of our tougher venues in recent years was a very acceptable outcome.

So, that’s 2 games played and won, 6 goals scored and none conceded. We have a 3 goal lead at the top from nearest challengers, Aberdeen.

As for the voting, it’s another great response. Not quite the heights of the opening game (85 voted then) but a huge thank you to the 76 who voted this time around.

Unfortunately, I’m not getting the negativity thing.

I want the same thing, Celtic to recruit quality players, why is that negative, surely that’s a positive

  8. There will be more expectation on Adam when he comes to Celtic this time, therefore more pressure, I’m sure it’s been a tough few weeks for him.

Might I suggest a little patience for the boy until he settles in once more.

Did someone on here really suggest we get rid of Reo because he wasn’t at his best at hibs?

  9. TB163- We were quoted with an interest a few weeks ago, Bournemouth probably favourite now

  10. What is the Starz on

  14. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

I won’t believe it until Celtic say it’s done.

And a warning – even if Adam signs we will still be weaker than last season.

Rocco Vata played 32 minutes for the first team last season.

C’mon recruitment team. Get yir finger out.

  15. lets all do the huddle on

so if Adam does sign, what do we reckon the plan is for how the team will line up?

    2 up front?

1 up front (kyogo) with Adam on the bench most of the time?

1 up front and switching between them in the starting XI?

probably a mixture of all of them.

but i would be shocked if the first euro game and first huns game if it just isnt kyogo up front on his own and we have an 8 million quid striker on the bench.

which isnt a bad situation to have i guess.

  16. If 8.5 is the correct price it’s probably a couple of million over the top ..but sometimes I take these prices with a pinch of salt….but let’s say 8.5 is correct so 8.5 + 3.5 for Bernardo….we all said it would probably cost 12 million for the pair, but I have to admit I’d have been happier paying 5.5…big pressure on the lad no doubt ramped up by SMSM

Oh out the door, scored 5 goals last season in just over 700 minutes.

Not a huge contribution, but bit nothing.

Once he’s replaced we’ll be back to where we were.

  19. Chairboy

It must be so hard for you that something you claim to support, yet never actually bother to go and see, gives you so much angst and negativity. Everything that those who run the club seems below your expectations. Maybe with your experience and expertise you could be running it. Ever wonder why you are not ?

For me I used to think I might like to. Then I saw up close what was involved and realised I could not have come close to being able to do what PL did.

Celtic gives me pleasure. Most of the time. It does seem to give you mostly grief. .

So it looks like after months of negotiation we’ve given Norwich what they asked for all along.

    Does it?

thats a difficult one Malone Bhoy,as we are gossiping(repeating press spec/Cellic&Norwich bloggers) on what Celtic offered contrasting it with what we are gossiping(repeating press/Cellic&Norwich bloggers was accepted by Norwich.

It all sells and values can go up or down over time, speculation is constant.

I do agree his form dipped. Certainly mitigating factors not least an injury lay off.

He looked more like himself last week and if Matt goes we certainly can’t let another midfielder starter leave in this window.
