There has been a lot of noise around football in Scotland since we put Newco on the canvas to win the league on Sunday. Notions are being peddled that directors left Newco because they had to make room for new people, who will bring bags of money any day now. It’s just nonsense.
This photo of an imperious Ali (then Clay) and Liston on the canvas is the perfect metaphor for football in Glasgow right now. Ali went on to set records, entertain, and become one of the world’s sporting greats. Whereas this is the best known photo Liston; flattened two minutes into a match against his then rival.
The world had already changed for both boxers before this fight, although Liston only realised it that day, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Now Clay swings with a right, what a beautiful swing!
And the punch raises the Bear clear out of the ring.
Liston is still rising, and the ref wears a frown,
For he can’t start counting till Sonny comes down.

Morning Tims….
Obsession Is the new paranoid,,,,, and dont forget we weren’t paranoid enough it seems..
Talk about cheating refs sfa spfl sfl,,,,, paranoid…
Talk about the old new weary and blue clubs oot of the Victorian lavvy….. obsessed..
They certainly like a label the old zombies and their plants…..
They would love nothing more than living in a dark wee world , were nobody shines a light ( not rhyming slang) on them.

May the 4th be with you…POG …..

Maybe, Stevie G. know’s that Brendan is a one trick pony, and when Brendan is asked to get Celtic performing outside of the Scottish one horse pub league, and continually gets his are kicked, maybe Stevie G. would be correct in that assertion.
Anywye,……happy dullard’s day ;

And a Big Happy Holiday Weekend Friday to you all.
Coming very late to the party (as usual) with apologies if already detailed….
Celtic played in the preliminary round of the 1967-8 season due to the ‘voluntary’ withdrawal of the Albanian champions. This upset the main draw equilibrium and Celtic were were then included to bring balance to the draw.
In those days it was an all in draw and Celtic were given the tough ask of Dynimo Kiev.
Not a political event although I have no idea why the Albanian club withdrew in the first place. It was was a very closed and mysterious country back then.

What happened to the Mark McGhee money?
Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Would love to have been a fly on the wall during the Gerrard negotiations.Just what has he been promised?.Either King has some shady deals on the go to raise money, who knows with him,or Gerrard is a gullible fool.He could very well be,but I would not think his advisors are.
We are in for a deluge of War Chest soundbites spewing forth from our rabidly compliant media.Batten down the hatches.
Meanwhile at the home of the 7 in a row champions, rumours are that PSG have been contacted to trigger Edouard’s permanent transfer deal (up to £5.5m) and Rogic has had a change of heart and will now sign a new contract. Bain will also sign on a permanent deal.

Nope, sorry. I refuse to accept that anything good can be happening to Celtic this summer.

Thanks for your polite and well structured response. Unfortunately, I do not have the time this morning to do it justice in response.
My summary points in reply would be:-
I don’t accept the framing of your conclusion that the majority of articles “seem to be parody”. I think that is an unjust conclusion and it is also unevidenced- an impression and assertion rather than an evidence- supported analysis.
It is also possible to laugh at and enjoy their misfortunes whilst also calling attention to the structural issues that brought it about.
Finally, we are also in a period where many of the villains have departed the scene:- Murray, Masterton, Whyte, Green, Regan, Ballantyne and his mate, and the Petrie cabal has been diminished. That’s a start but it is hardly, yet, a victory for our side.
I stand with you on the issue that, for the moment, the Continuity Myth side have won the balance of opinion in Scotland, the UK and in official football circles. Their victory may be Phyrric, as their club is deeply damaged, but their view holds sway.
That is why I will both laugh at their misfortune but stand behind Morrisey, canamalar, Auldheid and BRT & H in their efforts to play the long game for justice.
I don’t appreciate anyone, Paul 67 or others, having their words twisted to make a perception that was never theirs in order for them to be ridiculed and categorised. And that is what canamalar and Neg Anon did.
You, on the other hand, have made your opposing views with courtesy and with an acknowledgement that you might be wrong and that others have the right to see it differently. That is the form in which debate thrives.
I wish I had more time to respond in kind but the train won’t wait today.
Hail Hail

Hard-hitting,as ever. I’ll disagree with one point you make,I think CQN has been one of the louder and more informed sources of information on events which eventually brought Oldco down, their use of tax-evasion vehicles,Whyte’s financial status,Green’s history of asset-stripping,etc,etc. Where SMSM blew smoke-rings up the arse of the hun support,CQN happily shone a light on the murky dealings.
I’ll also even up the score by agreeing with another of your points. Yes,we have indeed been caught out by a belief that punishment follows on from the establishment of guilt, and yes,I think we,and by that I mean the club, people such as AULDHEID,CSA,CST,et al,as well as the fans in general, have now had enough. I don’t think we will mutter “Ffs,what does it take?” any longer.
Hope you’re getting some sleep now, mate!!!
If Red Bull are pumping money into the team that plays out of Ibrox, then surely they will demand that the Brand name “Red Bull” be incorporated into the name of the team…..it’s happened with the others they “sponsor”
So. What’ll it be ?
Red Bull The Rangers ?
The Rangers Red Bull ?
The Red Sevco Bull ?
Meanwhile, across the city, Glasgow Celtic are preparing for an unprecedented Double Treble.
COYBIG ?
Anyway, anyway, anyway…

Aye the one trick pony manager.
The one trick being winning trophies.
OK, my formatting of that wasn’t great but you must get the very pointy point!

SFTB “I wish I had more time to respond in kind but the train won’t wait today.”

Celtic will win nothing with Callum McGregor in the team
Celtic will win nothing with a one trick manager in charge
BATEENBHOY
More Bull Red Bull?
Btw former SFA Compliance Officer is on the Licensing Committee this year. Is that a good thing or a bad thing???

Apart from the stirring,ya nasty piece of work(!),I don’t think that comments re my unfortunate love affair with the train, and love-hate relationship with timetables, fall under the heading of “Having a go!”
Rather,they fall under “Fair Comment!”

Regarding Jim Watt, I was in hospital in my late teens and in a side room with 2beds. Jim Watt was admitted and shared the room with me fir a few days. He was a lovely bloke and very respectful to my Priest when he visited.
He knew I was a Catholic and Celtic supporter and he never came across as arrogant it Hunnish. When he spoke about his fights he was never disrespectful about his opponents.
I can only assume that he was “playing to an audience” when after-dinner speaking.

Sorry, meant to include Vincent Lunny’s name in that post above
Good news our development team rediscovered their route to goal this week, seven strikes against Hearts (4-1) and Ross County (3-1). Opportunity to finish fourth in the table next week with a win over Aberdeen in the final game.
Tommy McIntyre and Shaun Maloney have underperformed this season, I’d say. 22 goals scored at ‘home’ in thirteen league games is mediocre from any team and abysmal from a Celtic outfit.
Dynamo Kiev were a very good side but Celtic had defeated them 2 years earlier in the cup-winners cup.
I was there that night -think it was 3-0 . And that was 16 year-old George Connellys famous keepy-uppy display at half-time. I think he did a lap of the pitch without letting the ball touch the ground.
BMCUW,
The thought of a light being shone up where the SMSM have been blowing smoke, fairly put me off my late breakfast.
Canamalar & Eurochamps 67.
I agree with some of your thoughts. This site has always stimulated intellectual and diverse debate. I have acquired knowledge from numerous astute posters , even if I didn’t agree with their sentiments.
This has diminished. Many recent posts could be more apt for PM’ing ather than an open blog.
However it is incumbent on us all to revitalise the blog and assert its position as the no 1 Celtic site. Abstaining or walking away will not help
However there must always be a place for humour in this so serious lifestyle.
HH and Woof woof.
I would be more worried with Neil Warnock with £15 mil than Gerrard
If it’s true about you know who,Red Bull, investing in Sevco,it’s a big brand name, what has our own club Celtic been doing , regarding investing,to Magners,Dafabet, aren’t pumping Millions,so that’s a question we should seek answers too,
Stevie G has been offered £49 a week and a chance to work with Mark McGhee. How could he possibly refuse that?
Brazil to McCoist on Talksport….’ were you with the gers when you wrecked Barcelona?’
Green piñata,
There have been a great many comedians on CQN over the years.
