5,800 miles is a long way to go for two football games but that’s the distance from Celtic Park to the Nissan Stadium, where Celtic are currently playing Yokohama F. Marinos. It has been a great trip so far for our sizeable Japanese contingent, while the commercial department have been able to put down some roots in a large and wealthy market. This is an important commercial day.
Maintaining interest from Japan depends on the interests of the football operation, which will inevitably peak and trough. Still, we need to be like Daizen Maeda and make the most of the opportunity while it’s there.
Football is not known for understatements and Inter ultras certainly didn’t go there with their notice to Romelu Lukaku. Their note read, “you repay us with a stab worthy of Brutus. You kissed the badge that is worth more than our lives to us and now like a vile cheap mercenary”.
It’s been 2067 years lads, let it go. A note untempered by anyone who is not an angry male.

I stand corrected, joint thrird Celtic legend is the Prestwick flyer –
The current most decorated Celtic players only are:
25: Bobby Lennox.
23: Billy McNeill.
22: Scott Brown.
22: James Forrest.
20: Callum McGregor
19: Jimmy Johnstone.
18, Nir Bitton, Bobby Murdoch, Alec McNair, Jimmy McMenemy, .
I will be at his testimonial, having slagged him for the early years I think I owe this as an act of contrition.
STV, while waxing lyrical about the deid team, hasn’t even mentioned our game in Japan.
James Forrest one club

James Forrest one club
2 Monikers……..
!!bada bing!!
There’s only one James Forrest!
A decent Liverpool team lose to a mid table second tier German outfit. A team which was just 12 points above being relegated to the third tier in Germany.
Ferencváros get put out of CL qualifiers in round 1 by a team from the Faroes ! The Faroes which has a population less than East Kilbride.
Celtic lose 10 goal pre season game to a team joint top and midway through their domestic league. A league in a country which has reached the last 8 World Cup finals !
Saint Stivs
Really interesting stats Re James Forrest.
Thanks for sharing. It shows also how great these current Celtic times are.
Tiny Tim
I recall Forrest winning us cup games at Hampden and scoring vital goals in CL qualifiers v Rosenberg and Shakthar K to get us to that level. In the former case when more celebrated strikers had downed tools or were acting up (Griffith) and could not be played.
If you think his well decorated time at Celtic, where he has been a model pro and respectful to and regarded by all managers, is less worthy of support and recognition than McGregors 2 stints then that is your prerogative. Just as you’re having a view opposed to that of 4 successful Celtic managers Re James contribution. You pay your money and have a consumers right in that regard.
You are right though. I can’t be arsed with people who spend most of their time finding negatives about Celtic but purport to be fans. I certainly don’t believe it makes me better but I can’t be bothered negativity based on ignorance. I do get that for some the way Celtic is run is something they will always like to kick. Something they will always think they could do better. Few would ever really stand up and try though.
Anyway hope all is well with you and the family. I was thinking of you as I passed your place on the way back from Anstruther today.
BADA BING
Superb👍
PBREAKING! Brendan Rodgers reacts to Celtic’s 6-4 pre season friendly defeat to Yokohama ⬇️
‘It’s a period of the season where we’re only a few weeks in and assessing where we’re at. We could have been better for the first goal before it got to Joe.
‘It’s 25 yards out and there’s a player turning within our organisation. But I think we made a number of mistakes for the goals that we gave away. I’m assessing everything at the moment.
‘These players, their attitude and energy in everything that they do, on and off the pitch, is great. The humility that they have and how they work and present themselves is first class. They’re also very talented footballers.
‘You saw Daizen. It was a brilliant performance and I’m very happy for him to come back and play so well.
‘He scored three and maybe could have had one or two more. he was excellent in the game and the other players contributed, some more than others over the past few years.
“I think it was a really good exercise for us. It was always going to be a challenge, firstly from a physical perspective.
‘We arrived here in Japan on Monday and were into a game in hot conditions, against a team that are more than halfway into the season.
‘But there were some really good bits in the game. Some of our goals were excellent. I thought Maeda was exceptional in his performance. It was everything you’d want in a striker; running, movement and pressing.
‘We gave away some poor goals but a lot of that will be due to fitness and improving the structure of the team as we go along. So all in all, a really good exercise for us. in a really good atmosphere.
‘The result isn’t the priority at this point so we’ll prepare for when it matters’
I don’t get logged in very much these days, but I did see GG’s Final message which was very sad and very brave. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed for his live updates.

Simple comment really
We MUST hold on to Hatate and Abada
Ghuys, Ronnie’s (GG) daughter shared this with family:
“Following Ronnie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating the planting of trees in Ronnie’s honor at http://www.alivingtribute.org.”
My sister has reached out to her Sister-in-Law, Ronnie’s Niece and passed on CQN’s messages and that if they wanted I would be the conduit to passing any messages on CQN, no guarantee they will reply but I have tried.
I am unlikely to be back on but you can reach me at lennybhoycfc@gmail.com or my mobile if you have it.
Until we meet again…
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Thanks Lennybhoy

love donal lunny ag labhraig as gaeilge
JackieMac: I love Donal Lunny as a musician. His contribution to Irish music has been immense and he’s a decent speaker of Gaeilge also.
I met him a few years ago on a Dublin Bus and complimented him on his contribution to Irish music via Planxty, Bothy Band & Moving Hearts. He was very modest.
Certainly a genius of modern music.

COYGIG🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
I heard the Paul Brady/Andy Irvine version of Arthur mcBride, first on the Radio 2 folk programme hosted by Mike Harding in the late 70’s and immediately went out and bought the whole album on vinyl- still have it.
Surprised so many are making an issue of the defence today.A patchwork defence, with our 2 best defenders missing.
The main thing for me,was how brilliant our attack was.4 terrific goals from a nearly full attacking 6..Once CCV and AJ are back, normal service restored.
My only moan was, where was Odin?He trained, why no appearance?.Get him on the field.Let us,and the manager see him.
