Important takeaways from Uefa comment on Postecoglou

364

Today’s news cycle is dominated by comments from a Uefa spokesperson who confirmed Celtic have applied for an exemption for Ange Postecoglou from holding a Uefa Pro Licence.  There are important takeaways from this.

Ange’s signature must be on this application.  This could only happen if he had permission from Yokohama, his current employer, and contract terms had been agreed.

Exemption will be granted, this facility is there to provide for candidates like Ange.  The Pro Licence requirement is there to ensure standards in the European game, not to act as a closed shop.  Celtic are pursuing a similar Work Permit application to allow him to take up employment in this country.  This will occupy another day’s news cycle, but Ange will meet this requirement too.

Yes, Ange will not be able to take charge of a Celtic game for weeks, but our June schedule has been kind in this respect.  There is nothing to stop him planning a squad or backroom team for next season, I expect he is at least a week into this process.  If he’s good enough, the hassle getting him here is worth it.

Pretty gutted at the booing when England players took the knee at the Riverside Stadium last night.  Must be horrible for the players.  Hard to believe we are in 2021.

It’s probably too ambitious an ask to suggest we keep political debate out of CQN …

… but can we at least bring the discussion about Brian Wilson to a close?

Like every human being he likely has some good and some bad?

    I’m personally ambivalent about him.

    Not a lighthearted watch.

Manchester By The Sea is a tremendous film and Casey Affleck deservedly won Best Actor Oscar for his lead performance.

The plot follows a depressed man who, after his brother dies, is entrusted with the care of the latter’s teenage son.

Does anyone actually believe that if the Scottish Government had allowed 10,000 Gers supporters to gather inside Ibrox to celebrate collection of the title trophy, they would NOT have marched to George Square anyway, along with the 5,000 or so celebrating outside Ibrox, AFTER the stadium was emptied?

    I certainly don’t.

You went on about how bad things were when we signed a newbee /rooky manager in 65, two years later we won the Big cup. My post was along the lines of….. ANGE getting the gig we’ll be CL winners in two years, I’m having some of that positivity. If you took that at as sarcasm I can only say you’ve come over as a bit sensitive. Either way, I offer my apologies.

*No need tae apologise and yes I took your response as sarcasm, something that I’ve had tae apologise over the years for over here. Sarcasm is the Scottish way or so it seems.

As for being sensitive, anything but in fact I’m very thick skinned. Mrs TT once said tae me many years ago that she didnae really know me as I don’t really show my feelings.

She did carry on with I was a really nice person who loved helping people but continued with you would make a bad enemy though as you hold grudges.

Right now I’m a bit urinated off with the junk on here perpetuated by hunterlopers and unfortunately carried on by disappointed and upset genuinely RGTs.

We will come good that I’m sure of.
