Impose a player on the manager or pay up

422

The Barton issue: it seems bizarre to suspend a player for four weeks after an incident, more so to extend that by a further week immediately before a clear-the-air meeting, but it’s not.

This has got nothing to do with the player. Whatever he did with a team-mate in the aftermath of our 5-1 win a month ago has nothing to do with his continuing suspension. Nor is the player’s subsequent charge for gambling on football.

I’m pretty sure it’s not even about money, or the player’s lack of ability. This is about the manager and his board. Who authorised his signing in the summer and on what basis was he employed? Warburton has played his hand by passing the issue up to his board. The board can try to impose the player on the manager, again, or they can find the money to make the problem go away.

Or maybe the manager will go instead.

Tontine Tim, I only found out what parts of Ireland my grandparents came from about twenty years ago when one of my mum’s brothers was visting us . He was living in Stevenage at the time.

He filled me in on my grandparents’ origins .

I’m hoping to go to Ireland in the future to do some family tree stuff . Gearoid has very kindly offered to help me with this.

The Tim Reaper, Wes Hoolahan used to play for Livingstone then moved to Blackpool then onto Norwich.

Its a pity we never went for him when he was at Livingstone or Blackpool or maybe we did and no deal was agreed.

Aye wee Jimmy’s wife is something else ,what a woman ! Wee Bertie and Big Tommy etc. were really hurting when reminiscing about Jinky !

  4. Gordybhoy64: international footie nowadays is a very low standard, imho. If I didn’t support Ireland I wouldn’t have continued to watch that match.

Just thought it was a bit mad when my sister mentioned your old pre-match boozer ……

It has been a long weekend but most enjoyable dreading the office the morra, the time police haven’t touched me in 4 weeks so I fear the worst, I was at a christening today (mixed family) as it is theses days, 2 sister-in-laws who I get on well with but both stuck in the past and are in the OO, when the priest turned to everybody at the end of the Christening and announced “let’s welcome a brand new catholic to the world” their faces were amazing, I still question my own faith daily but no hatred in this household :-)

Is there such a thing as impartial media?

The cynic in me suggests that it may be deliberate.

Park Road 67, of the documentaries made about Jimmy, the latest one is the best.

My reasoning for that is this one is more focused on his family and their feelings towards him and how the wee man’s illnesses affected him, Agnes and his family.

Former rangers player , George Young was there , who was given a great reception . It turned out he was invited to Sally’s dinner but thought that highly of Sean , he went to his tribute dinner.

*I have never heard a bad word about big Corky fae oulder Tims. He wasn’t yer typical hun. His career was on the wane but got extended when woodburn was sine died. They had a hard time replacing him until mckinnon broke through.

The Jinky programme was a hard watch, his son was obviously pretty devastated, his wife was a typical mum, BUT it was pretty dam amazing, the wee man might have been a player but his wife was the real star.. Kicking a ball or keeping your family together ?

    Agnes was the star

Tontine Tim, when you mentioned MacKinnon at first I thought you meant effen nutter (copyright the late Brian Whittaker) , Davie MacKinnon but then remembered Ronnie MacKinnon

I was privileged to meet Sean Fallon a number of times, the last outside Celtic Park the Sunday before Tommy’s funeral. I could understand why Sean was held in such high regard by all who knew him.

In the footage of our 2 1 win against what was Rangers. in November 1983, Davie MacKinnon grabbed Brian Whittaker at one point to which Brian shouted you’re an effen nutter pal. You can lip read his comment clearly .

I offered a spare for Saturday on here, and had many requests for the ticket.

Last year Motherwell at home, no one would have been interested.

  19. That offer still open Dallas. Whenever, whatever required.

Some talk on Willie Henderson. I had mentioned on here before that I used to travel to the away matches with St Mary’s Coatbridge. They left from Willie Hendersons bar. Coming from the black North I was amazed at a CSC connection with a bar that was owned by an ex player from Rangers as they were then.

Have to say he was an absolute gentleman.

The Press Bar is one of the last proper pubs in the town.

The twice I shared a taxi with the present landlord to Celtic Park , we lost so I never took up his offer of sharing a taxi to a game after that.
