CELTIC captain Callum McGregor kept his cool as a sell-out Hampden rocked during a pulsating World Cup qualifier with Israel last night.

The thrilling and dramatic confrontation ebbed and flowed with Nir Bitton and his team-mates twice taking the lead before the encounter was settled in the fourth minute of stoppage-time by Scott McTominay who claimed his first-ever goal for the Scots with impeccable timing.

It was an evening of breathtaking action on the rainswept south side of Glasgow as two sets of determined players went head to head in the quest for the points that would edge their respective nations towards the sporting extravanganza in Qatar next year. The blistering second-half, in particular, left the 52,000 onlookers breathless with excitement and anticipation.
