Celtic have a great opportunity to move five points ahead of Aberdeen after the same number of games with a win over Ross County tomorrow. The Dons visit Tynecastle on Sunday after dropping five points from their last six. With Celtic due to visit Pittodrie on Wednesday, Aberdeen’s challenge for the title depends on them digging results out over the next week.
Our previous game against Ross County this season was an atrocious battle, where late goals from Alistair Johnston and Nicolas Kuhn rescued the points. County’s penalty that day was the first league goal Kasper Schmeichel conceded for Celtic, who remain one of only three teams to score Premiership goals against the champions this term.
Ross County’s win over Motherwell last week provided evidence that they may yet again be likely to defy expectations and survive another season in the Premiership. They sit six points ahead of Hearts, who have a higher budget and better players. There is nothing precious about County, they are an industrial unit who know how to get results.
Brendan Rodgers will take nothing for granted, but he will hope to establish an early lead and rest some legs ahead of a hectic December.

For its a grand old team to play for,
For its a grand old team to see,
And if you know the history,
Its enough to make your heart go,
GO-OH-OH-OH!
We don’t care what the animals say,
What the hell do we care,
For all we know,
Is that there’s going to be a show,
And the Glasgow Celtic will be there.
it’s the best darn team in Europe,
And its players all are grand,
We support the Celtic,
As they are the finest in the land
God Bless them,
We’ll be there to give the Bhoys a cheer
When the league flag flies,
And they cheers us up when we know the Scottish Cup
Is coming home to rest at Paradise.
For its a grand old team to play for,
For its a grand old team to see,
And if you know the history,
Its enough to make your heart go,
GO-OH-OH-OH!
We don’t care what the animals say,
What the hell do we care,
For all we know,
Is that there’s going to be a show,
And the Glasgow Celtic will be there
Reminder for this taking place this weekend. Anything at all whether it be a bag of messages or a couple of quid into a bucket is hugely appreciated.
Some of the food banks we’ve been speaking to are in desperate need with empty shelves – this could help see them through next few weeks at what is always one of their busiest periods.
These collections have been genuinely unbelieavable at times. As far as I’m aware, the biggest of its kind in Britain with some the volunteers reduced to tears when they see the volume of the response and they feel the love of the Celtic support. It’s humbling to witness.
While last couple have still been amazing, they’ve probably not been as huge as others. I’d put that down to maybe a couple of reasons – cost of living is obvious one and people not having what they once did. There was also a sort of novelty to bringing a few bags of tins to a game which isn’t really there anymore. On a cash front, since Covid less people carry change to throw our way. There’s also about a hunner collections every weekend with dance schools and the rest of it competing for donations.
If you’re not making the game but would like to donate – you can send it to paypal (greenbrigade@hotmail.co.uk) with the reference ‘Food Bank’ in advance. We’ll total the money and split it as far and wide across Scotland as we possibly can in the days after. We will have 7 different food banks there on the day to take the food away immediately to their users that evening. If you can help us get the word out by sharing the poster on your chats, with your mates, with your CSC, on social media etc etc then that would be really helpful.

Nicolas Kuhn to get rested BR might opt for Yang, ahead of James Forrest , the impact sub role has prolonged his remarkable career, we’ll definitely see him at some stage. Paulo Bernardo’s expected, rare start would likely be in place of Reo Hatate.
Team
Schmeichel
AJ CCV Trusty Taylor
Engels CalMac Bernardo
Yang Kyogo Maeda
Maeda looked jaded but always wants to play and his goal on Wednesday might guarantee his place. Kyogo was starved of the ball and might be a candidate for a goal and a return of the early goal trademark. Tough game complacent we can’t be, and underrating Scottish teams isn’t allowed.
Who knows as long as there’s no ‘wholesale changes’ CSC

Everyone at Celtic is saddened to hear of the death of former player, John McNamee, who has passed away at the age of 83.
John joined Celtic in 1960, and made his debut the following year in a 2-0 league win at home to Hibernian. And over the next four years he would go on to make 44 appearances for the Hoops, scoring four goals.
It was Jock Stein who signed John for Hibernian in April 1964, having previously worked with him at Celtic when he was a reserve coach, although just under a year later, Jock Stein left Easter Road to become Celtic manager.
John, who was a defender, spent two years with Hibs before moving south to join Newcastle United in 1966, and he was key member of their 1969 Inter Cities Fairs Cup-winning squad.
He would subsequently also have spells with Blackburn Rovers, Hartlepool United, Lancaster City and Workington before retiring in 1976.
The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with John’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.
The Celtic players will wear black armbands at today’s game against Ross County as a mark of respect for the former Celt.
Although there were and are a number of Saints who may have a greater claim to be the Patron Saint of Scotland, notably St Columba, St Cuthbert, St Modan, St Bride and St Margaret, the fact is St Andrew has been that Saint for over a millennium, and was cited in the Declaration of Arbroath 1320;
“….the most gentle Saint Andrew, the Blessed Peter’s brother, and desired him to keep them under his protection as their Patron forever.” It can only help when you are writing to the Head of the Church founded by his brother.
St Andrews Day itself may owe more to the Americans though, and the Saint Andrews Society is to be found across the USA. And for those familar with the film ‘The Dead Poets Society’ the actual setting for the movie was St Andrews School, (founded by the Du Ponts) in Middletown Delaware. An impressive institution by any standard. On occasion the Saltire will appear in the clear blue sky, part of the Cross’s legend, sometimes naturally, but more often these days by the confluence, not of streams, but of the white trails of jet engines flying above. Or at least thats what the Scientists will tell you.
Celtic DO play today,don`t we?

Engels is a very young raw bhoy, need time to settle, he will be missing his mammy probably, but has massive potential fo sure
