Ingredients of a viable football club

156

The main ingredients of a viable football club are a significant fan base, an appropriate stadium and TV deal. Celtic over achieve with the fan base, which offsets a deficient TV deal.

Without a large stadium, Celtic would survive in some form, but it wouldn’t be the club we know and love.  We should always look for ways to improve the fan experience at Celtic Park; it’s worth forgoing the odd player.

If you ever get the chance to visit Rome, go. Not for a football game, visit the city properly.  It’s breathtaking and cheaper than London.

One of the many highlights is the Pantheon. A church older than Christianity itself, it’s a testament to Roman engineering. Over 2000 years old, it has the world’s largest unsupported concrete ceiling. But the Romans didn’t use RAAC concrete, which would make any subsequent changes troublesome.

i even have my slogan campaign ready –

supporting celtic, always a privelage never a chore.

    yes

but we pay handsomely for that privelage.

it remains to be seen when we start the CL group whether that 200 quid CL package has been a privelage.

    who knows…

  2. Standard Liege boss says” Rangers are a different class”.After his team played out a 0-0 draw,!!!!!!!!!.

Cast your mind back to pre- season, last year. Can’t remember the team, but their boss said” Rangers are different class”

Just got another e mail about the survey.

Got me thinking about the return of the hun hordes to Celtic Park.

Anyone know if any of the supporters groups such as the association, Celtic trust, north curve folk etc have considered the possibility of setting up an on line petition to gather signatures from Celtic supporters who oppose the return of their support to our ground?

This could then be presented to Celtic publicly.

I commented on the survey that I felt the continued absence of the hun would improve the experience of supporters at Celtic Park. However I suspect that this sort of response won’t appear in the results of the survey.

  4. Brendan in my opinion is a guy with principles, rare these days I know. If the same happens, ie, the board not giving him the tools to do the job, he’ll be entitled to GTF, and frankly I would not blame him one little bit.

    Just hope I’m wrong

  5. Keep on saying the same thing,no one listens.

You want Quality, you have to pay for the oven ready kind.35 grand a week won’t cut it.This cap on salaries is not helping us one bit.If you raise the bar, significantly, maybe.I

We have to pay a premium for the SPFL,Scotland, small league.Quality costs big bucks. If we don’t want to pay the going rate,I can see where the hold up is.

At least get in a keeper.

Brendan in my opinion is a guy with principles,

not very pricipled when he walked out for Leicester.

Conversly this time, I believe him when he says he wants to hour the 3 year contract,

he is going no where, unless DD doesnt want him anymore.

If he really wants a fast exit, dont buy a goalkeeper and play the youths everyone moans about, his feet wont touch the ground as soon as he loses a few games.

  7. GGH,

No one wants them back.Only,it seems our Board rolling over to ease the pain of the SPFL.

Its costing us big bucks for the renovations to net them in.2,500 of our own fans will be locked out.We will lose many seats to keep the segregation, meaning more fans locked out.

Our ears will be ravaged by sectarian filth, child abuse ,bigotry, all to appease who?.

Did CFC ask the fans,no.Its a done deal, and as crazy as it seems,we can like it or lump it.

    Gutless Board.

Got me thinking about the return of the hun hordes to Celtic Park.

it is one of the worst things we have ever done.

instigated by the fat cats in the centre main stand who want tickets for ibrox in return.

they have sacrificed the great atmosphere and the safety going to CP for those games so they can get a ticket for ibrox.

They think because Brendan walked before, he won’t do it again, I wouldn’t be so sure, why should he be left holding the baby? If he does ,I hope he doesn’t sing an NDA, and tells us what is going on there.

R2ngers can yank the chains of their moronic supports, the SMSM (also moronic) and to some extent, the SFA.

    But not UEFA.

Their deadlines for confirming stadia will dictate when the truth comes out.

    R2ngers guaranteed group stage football.

If they lose both qualifiers they’ll “jet into” the Conference League – six games to be played up to the week before Christmas.

The league didn’t have any official rules other than ‘reasonable amount’. The new arrangement is between the clubs probably instigated by Sky who want an atmosphere!

  18. Guys,

Im not so sure it was Sky who wanted away supporters.

Last season they got their highest ever viewing figures for a Glasgow Derby and the atmosphere at Parkhead was incredible.

We should have told the huns to stuff their reciprocal agreement on the grounds of health and safety.

Put bluntly, we have betrayed our fans who occupied these seats. We have buckeled and rolled out the red carpet for vandalism, sectarianism and anti social neandarthals.

  21. What’s the situation with European football for 2024/25?

It’s great news that we again have three clubs – Celtic, Rangers and Heart of Midlothian – guaranteed European football in the league phase of the revamped UEFA competitions, with Kilmarnock and St Mirren aiming to join them. Celtic go straight into the Champions League and Rangers enter in qualifying round three but are assured of at least a place in the league phase of the Europa League. Hearts are in the Europa League play-offs, with a league phase spot in the Conference League available should they lose.
