INJURY UPDATE: CELTIC STAR’S SETBACK

JAMES FORREST, who missed the 2-1 Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle at the weekend, is unlikely to bit fit in time to face Kilmarnock tomorrow evening.

The winger toiled with the injury in the loss against Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side before the turn of the year when he was taken off 22 minutes from the end.

Boss Neil Lennon will not rush back the Scotland international for the trip to Rugby Park.

Forrest did not train at Lennoxtown this morning and could even struggle for the visit of Ross County to Parkhead on Saturday.

Kristoffer Ajer and Mikey Johnston, who also sat out the Firhill encounter, featured in the sessions as well as Ryan Christie who had an emergency groin operation after the match against the Govan outfit.

He is, of course, serving the second of a three-match ban after the incident with Alfredo Morelos that was deemed “violent conduct” by the SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte and her three-man disciplinary team.

Ivorian striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo also put in a good shift, but he will be struggling for game time with Lennon  now being able to choose from usual first-pick Odsonne Edouard, fired-up Leigh Griffiths, who scored his first goal in five months against the Championship side, and £3million new Bhoy Patryk Klimala, who made a 10-minute cameo appearance against the Jags on Saturday evening.
