Inner Record culture disrobed, signing up to the Celtic rulebook

891

In many places it would be practically inconceivable that someone could be employed in this position:

capture-20170119-220102
And get away with running rubbish like this on a back page cover:

capture-20170119-220127
But then you see more and get a picture of the organisation involved:

capture-20170119-220204
The Record have been caught displaying their inner culture and will no doubt be forced into a remedial action, but getting caught was just misfortune. The culture exists and has informed articles for years.  They have gone too far down this road to even begin to understand what they’ve done to a once-strong demographic.

An echo reached me from 2012 today, which illuminated yesterday’s article. As the SPL debated serious issues in 2012, a consensus emerged on what subsequently took place. There were hold-outs to the new majority, however.

One director of a club near Glasgow (no guesses, now) made his position clear: “I’m not signing up to any f****** Celtic rulebook.”

The comment met with incredulity, as the Celtic rulebook wasn’t part of the conversation. Fans and clubs across the country came to the same conclusion about how our game should proceed.  It was no more the Celtic rulebook than the Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs rulebook, but prejudices occasionally seep out when people don’t get what they want.

This is what we’re up against. They are still out there, writing articles for the paying public, or voting on the future of our game.

As for the Celtic rulebook, I’ve seen it. It contains one page and only three words: “Pay your bills.” That doesn’t sound like much but remarkably, it may deliver 20-in-a-row. I hope others don’t start to copy us.

It’s just split between the two teams with 20% of takings going direct to home club for hosting expenses, £400 to away club for travel costs and the rest split equally with away teams to be in receipt of their share of the spoils within 5 working days of match completion. I wonder how many times the Huns have missed that 5 day deadline in last couple of years?

25% of the tickets gone and the sale of tickets is only now being opened up to other Celtic sites and on twitter.

There will be a couple of articles about the raffle and about what comes next.

    Various fundraisers ongoing.

However, if you need any inspiration, the sale of the tickets for the shirt will feed 50% of the school for the whole of next year. I already have another 25% or so and so the shirt sale takes the school target a long way up the pitch.

Part of the 1967 challenge is to feed at least 1967 kids through Mary;s Meals in the name of the fans of Celtic Football Club.

Another part is to make a significant impact in relation to the treatment of heart disease and the prevention of unnecessary deaths as a result of heart attacks in the name of Jock Stein.

When Jock Stein died, only 30% of heart attack victims survived.

Today, over 70% of the people who have heart attacks go home to their families, and not only that many of them go home really well and are able to live a full and active life.

    More on this later.

This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our team winning the European Cup.

However, we also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the time when the fans of Celtic Football Club not only changed European Football and the way it is supported for all time coming, but the fact we did it by being ourselves, by supporting in the way that our founding fathers would have approved of and in a way that made the neutral want to support us — with laughter, song, goodwill to all men and all those whose city we visit no matter who they support.

The whole point about highlighting the numbers 1967 is to remind all those who are not necessarily Celtic fans just what we achieved and what changed in that year, and to stress the fundamental charitable and desire to do good behind everything that this football club does.

So, just another 74 £19:67’s feeds approximately 125 kids who we will never meet, never know and never need to know …… unless of course one of them turns up at Celtic Park in about ten years time with the No 9 on their back!

Barry Mackay is a more than decent player and will prosper under a good manager and with better players around him.

He has pace, skill and a fair sense of the game. He needs coaching by a decent tactician. When (not if) he leaves he will be a better player.

    All IMHO of course.

Delaney’s, sorry for the late reply.

One of my pals gets to most Bankies games. He told me Budgie looked to have run out of ideas as the team have been really inconsistent. He thought he would go at the end of this season.

    I wish Budgie well.

Kieran Tierney’s injuries ankle and shoulder, may have been a blessing in disguise.

It will have given him a welcome break from our heavy schedule over the last 3 months and he should be fitter and stronger than before.

Izzy has done a great job covering for Kieran but me like many others will be delighted to see Kieran back on the pitch.

  13. VFR800 IS NOW A MONSTER 821

  23. Scouts from the worlds top giant clubs and their companies attended Ibrox today to run the rule over the world class breakfast buffet. They left highly impressed and are fighting it out for the signature of the clubs head chef. Head chef is on a two week notice period and Huns want £5m for him.

The giant club scouts are not prepared to wait 2 weeks and it’s understood by Keith Jackonthelevelhun that one club is about to offer £20m to get his signature today or tomorro or soon…

    2 things came to mind.

    1. Sometimes the EPL throws up some great games.

    2. Time for video assisted refereeing. Citeh should have won 3-1 against 10 men.

  26. Margaret McGill on

I dont understand why awe you tims are bitching about Barrie McKay. He is their new star and they build their game around him. Quicker he is gone the quicker they collapse.

  27. Simply awesome performance from Warriors tonight at Leicester.

To come through in a group with the massively budgeted Munster, Paris and Leicester is great enough but playing such incredible rugby makes it more amazing.

Eminently strong scottish talent base being nurtured by a hugely talented coach. Hopefully they can go all the way.

Esp as a home semi final v Munster may well fill our own Celtic Park as the most likely venue.

Seeing a great non football sporting event in front of a 60000 crowd at Paradise with beer and gins enjoyed all day before and through the game in the stadium and no trouble would be a great precedent as well as an amazing ocassion.

Showcasing our fantastic stadium to a new audience……. How it would wind thems up.

  28. Re above scenario. Warriors winning at Saracens in London would be necessary for the home semi final.
