Inner Record culture disrobed, signing up to the Celtic rulebook

891

In many places it would be practically inconceivable that someone could be employed in this position:

capture-20170119-220102
And get away with running rubbish like this on a back page cover:

capture-20170119-220127
But then you see more and get a picture of the organisation involved:

capture-20170119-220204
The Record have been caught displaying their inner culture and will no doubt be forced into a remedial action, but getting caught was just misfortune. The culture exists and has informed articles for years.  They have gone too far down this road to even begin to understand what they’ve done to a once-strong demographic.

An echo reached me from 2012 today, which illuminated yesterday’s article. As the SPL debated serious issues in 2012, a consensus emerged on what subsequently took place. There were hold-outs to the new majority, however.

One director of a club near Glasgow (no guesses, now) made his position clear: “I’m not signing up to any f****** Celtic rulebook.”

The comment met with incredulity, as the Celtic rulebook wasn’t part of the conversation. Fans and clubs across the country came to the same conclusion about how our game should proceed.  It was no more the Celtic rulebook than the Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs rulebook, but prejudices occasionally seep out when people don’t get what they want.

This is what we’re up against. They are still out there, writing articles for the paying public, or voting on the future of our game.

As for the Celtic rulebook, I’ve seen it. It contains one page and only three words: “Pay your bills.” That doesn’t sound like much but remarkably, it may deliver 20-in-a-row. I hope others don’t start to copy us.

Blessed are the meek and humble, for it is they whom shall inherit the earth.

    Matthew 5:5

Humble in victory, gracious in defeat.

That is what the Celtic Football Club is,and always has been about.

    Remember the 90’s.

Often disheartened, yet never defeated in mind or spirit.

1967 – constantly immitatated, never bettered -and it never shall be, in my humble opinion.

Jealously is a terrible thing with some peepil – Try to replicate the virtually impossible accomplishments of others – honest football club whom just win trophies fair and square.

Win,lose or draw the game today – we move on, and we move forward… Regardless.

    It’s a wonderful life.

    God bless the Celtic.

  2. Morning All, the Fitbaws back!

Wee bit conflicted with this game, way back had Family Connections with Rovers and wore my Tie with Pride. Also t’was my Faither’s Team.

But no Fairy Tales Endings Today Leads.

    Nice Competitive Victory will suffice….

Seen a wee thing posted by Jay’s Dad, Martin. Do you think Jay does CQN?!?!?

“Really no point in trying to explain…..

Jay…” Daddy I am so excited I cannot wait to tomorrow, I have been dreaming about this day for a full year”

    Me….”Jay it’s been 3 weeks not a full year”

Jay…..”Daddy your not very good at counting, I last saw Celtic in 2016 it’s now 2017 that’s a year and it has been the longest and toughest year of my life”.”

  3. Good morning friends and Happy Matchday from a grey, cloud covered, frosty East Kilbride. Expected to see snow when I awoke but none yet.

  4. Morning all

Up to the news that Murray is out which was in the script

A couple of rols on sausage and then off to catch the bus to see the Celts. A long time since I saw the Rovers – I canbot remember seeing them since League Cup games c76 though my memory can let me down. We sometimes make a meal of these type of games and after 3 weeks we might be rusty £

today I suppose. Hooefully though it won’t be like last game at same stadium which was one of the worst I have ever been at.

  5. The dusting of snow is disappearing here in darkest Lanarkshire. Still a cold one and no Hill runs for me.

Just a gym session and a nice Spanish chicken casserole to cook for lunch. Will have to finish off some work stuff as well before Celtic are back on the telly.

Looking forward to it, have a good day everyone. HH

Its Coatbridge verse Glasgow Celtic in Airdrie , after a tortuously too long gap without the slump, and we face away draw number twenty, from twenty three

    ties in eight years.

‘Gap’ got bigger as we struck early in the transfer window did some proper warm weather training and got to laugh out loud at all 8000 of the 2000 Legneds of Leipzig, who managed to threaten somewhere colder than Scotland.

The longer the slump the angrier SMSM have become.

The only certainty about the Celtic side today is that Jozo Simunovic doesn’t do plastic, so it’ll be minus him, the rest is a guess with a sprinking of fringe players with another game on the horizon.

It seems Ryan Christie is the fringe man most likely in a game we’ll win with a proper scoreline to see us into the draw where we’re more than five times likely than an other to be drawn away from home.

Yeah pretty much how I see it. Seem to recall in the late 90s and early noughties when we previously had the break that we always seemed to labour at the first game back. Result is obviously most important thing but hopefully a decent show put on. Speaking to my fellow travellers we all think it has been a long three weeks!

I doubt many will be along at Cheers for this one tonight!

Good luck with the horses , wer’e usually over for this meeting but decided to wait tiil next month and go to Gold cup meeting , so hopefully see you then ! HH !

  13. I would hope Celtic will increase the bid for the Nigerian boy. If,as Paul says,we tabled a bid of 1 million,it would seem pitifully low.Considering we are looking for 30 million for Moussa, who is the same age, playing in a similar league, and with a very slight leads in goals scored and assists,I would think we could go up a bit. This always seems to be our tactics though, for as long as I can remember.Sometimes works,so lets see.

    Cant wait for todays game.

  14. Any team news yet?

I was wondering if our development loan player Theo Archibald will be allowed to play against us. Anyone?

  15. Very rarely bet on Celtic but decided to today.

    -3 goals 5/4, -4 goals 13/5 and -5 goals at 5/1.

One could say I was pretty confident of a resounding victory for a full strength, Champions Celtic.

Over at Leopardstown I am strangely drawn to the Mullins/ Walsh 16/1 snot Allblak Des Places in the big handicap.

I agree to some extent but on this occasion if the deal falls through (if there was one) then it’s on the lads head for going public. Even I won’t blame the bonus collector for this one as I agree with the bonus collector that negotions while they are in play should remain between club and player.

Now nearly Celtic time – praise the Lord

  19. Turkeybhoy –

It’s the way transfer negotiations work. The buying club starts the bidding at x and the selling club quote z. The final agreed price is usually y.

James Forrest came on CQN and slaughtered PL for “dragging his heels” on negotiations for Scott Sinclair, demanding that Celtic walk away. How did that work out?

Too many think we should go in high every time. Utter nonsense.

Also, what has the bid for the Nigerian got to do with Dembele? You say Celtic are looking for £30m for the French striker. Really? Celtic have clearly stated that the player is not for sale. I think it was Brendan who said it would take a crazy bid like £30m to change that state of affairs. In other words, hands off. But you see that as “Celtic are looking for £30m for Dembele.”

    Seriously?

  20. MWD –

    Spot on.

Can’t see Celtic being at all happy at the player running to the media about a bid.
