The last two teams out of the pots for today’s Europa League draw left to former European Champions. Celtic will face Inter Milan, who they have met twice before in European competition. The teams faced in the European Cup Final in 1967, when Celtic won the tournament, and again in the European Cup Semi-final in 1972, when Inter progressed on penalties after two 0-0 draws.
It’s not the draw I would have handpicked but it’s a great draw from many perspectives. Inter will bring genuinely tier-one talent to Celtic Park, and provide Ronny Deila and the squad with an invaluable chance to test their progress.
The games will take place a few weeks before the 50th anniversary of Jock Stein becoming Celtic manager and set his team on the road to dismantling La Grande Inter. History is made of great stories and no sporting event in history has been so infused by story telling than the first meeting between these clubs.
If all these stories teach us anything it’s to fear no one. Bring it on.
Among many great features, we have an interview with Dixie Deans in the 2015 CQN Annual, see above, who among many things, discusses “that penalty”. Still time to order yours for Christmas.
You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

CELTIC are pleased to announce that we are giving away a free ticket to supporters who are unemployed this Christmas for our next home match against Ross County on Saturday December 27.
Somebody from Celtic reading my posts?.
Makes a change from some reading them, and through ignorance,or snideyness, digging me up.

if you were a real tim you’d have seen that last week! :)

Jim Murphy out jogging with a Scotland jersey on (amazing that a photographer was there….)
The man who put the con in condescending….
Roberttressel
I will not be using mine, starting Italian night classes on a Thursday,so I suppose if none of my relations are looking for it you can have it, I imagine it will be circa £75
Bada
well I suppose if you make a point of running past the STV and BEEB studios like that your likely to get caught on camera.
that’s why I never jog there. Ever!
Jim Murphy is what I term a corporate spychopath.
MWD said AYE
I expect we can see Jim Murphy turning up at The Australian Open with a saltire to steal the limelight from Andy Murray then?
The 45% on here are like the Americans re-fighting the Vietnam War
The initial news from Sydney is very promising. It seems that, this time, the character involved was, thankfully, not well organised.
Equally good news that there are plenty of good Australians prepared to resist any red neck tendencies
I’ll ride with you
For the usual mechants of doom on here, already trying to put a dampner on everyone elses hopes, regards AC Milan game.At that time AC still had a team littered with big names. We outplayed them in Milan, and were unfortunate to lose, never mind win. This Inter team have a team that ,apart from Medel, who played in the World Cup,and in England last year, who has heard of any of them.I am not stupid enough to think we will win easily, but they are in transition, there form in a very poor Serie A is shocking for a team like Inter. We have a chance, nothing else.Maybe a good chance.
Sorry for the “There”.

Worrying events in Sydney.
Tom,
If the guy is, as reported Iranian, then that is probably what caused the confusion. Arabs speak/write arabic. Persians speak/write Farsi.

Murphy would be too scared to go to tennis – in case he’d get hit with a tennis ball after his non stop egg bombardment and resultant psychological trauma.
SFTB
I’m glad you like Mr Murphy with your obvious defence of the man (for want of a better word). Says more about you than it does me.

Swally MacCrust’s decision to resign has left thousands of football fans broken hearted……………………………………all of them Tims.
Joe Filippis Haircut,
Celtic have AGREED a fee with Man City. How many times. Its up to JG,and JG only,if he wants to join Celtic. This is the loan/buy agreement we have. There are no other connotations.
If JG informs Celtic,he does not want to sign, then other clubs are free to deal with Man City.
Celtic will terminate his loan deal I would expect.
MWD- An apt description.

I don’t know how others are feeling at the moment, but I feel like I am waiting for the biggest, and best, Xmas present I’ve ever had ……. my distinct impression is that Sally knows something big is imminent, and has tried to get out before it happens…..unfortunately for him, the bored have given him a big “GIRFUY …..you’re staying right where you are, since you are not getting any pay-out which would only dilute the imminent spiv ‘spoils’ share-out ”
Hope I’m right, eh ….. Hahahahahahaha…!!!!

Further to the good move to offer a free ticket for the unemployed on the 27th, I asked JPT on twitter would the club look at allowing the adult to bring a kid too, he said he thought they would look at that favorably. So anybody in that position that wanted to take a kid maybe ask about it at the ticket office or through JPT on twitter @CelticFCSLO.

“well I suppose if you make a point of running past the STV and BEEB studios like that your likely to get caught on camera.”
Instead of running he should have stood stock still like The Rangers support and the YES crowd by organising a solitary demo against imaginary BBC bias.
Weefra.
Thank God you’re here.
Someone said ACGR had kidnapped you. Others said he’d eaten you.
Either way, We were terrified.
For him!
