The last two teams out of the pots for today’s Europa League draw left to former European Champions. Celtic will face Inter Milan, who they have met twice before in European competition. The teams faced in the European Cup Final in 1967, when Celtic won the tournament, and again in the European Cup Semi-final in 1972, when Inter progressed on penalties after two 0-0 draws.
It’s not the draw I would have handpicked but it’s a great draw from many perspectives. Inter will bring genuinely tier-one talent to Celtic Park, and provide Ronny Deila and the squad with an invaluable chance to test their progress.
The games will take place a few weeks before the 50th anniversary of Jock Stein becoming Celtic manager and set his team on the road to dismantling La Grande Inter. History is made of great stories and no sporting event in history has been so infused by story telling than the first meeting between these clubs.
If all these stories teach us anything it’s to fear no one. Bring it on.
Among many great features, we have an interview with Dixie Deans in the 2015 CQN Annual, see above, who among many things, discusses “that penalty”. Still time to order yours for Christmas.
You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.
The latest edition of the Magazine is out today, click on the download link on the graphic below to read for free.

Aka ” the scarlet pimpernell ” good to see yir fine ;))
was wondering about something ….. Sevco are letting go a load of long term employees …. presumably they were given severance packages ….Sally’s secretary was apparently employed for 40 years or some such number ….
I wonder if she was paid a severance based on being employed for 2 years (new company) or 40 years (same club)? With those chancers, I suspect we all know the answer to that one …

Been offline since thursday. New router arrived today. The reason I was absent yesterday, and BMCUW will back me up in this, I done my ankle in last wednesday and I look as if I have a club foot now. There is no way I would have made it up the Celtic Way yesterday or climbed the stairs to my seat. Starting to ease a bit today but still very painful. It really is nice to have been missed. Luv yawl. :-)))

It is no “defence” of Murphy.
It’s more of an attack on double standards.
squire d
Your side seems amazingly animated about Jim Murphy. What happened to the line about “If Jim Murphy is elected, the SNP will enjoy 100 years of rule”?
P.S. I’d have preferred Neil Findlay but whoever was elected was going to receive a character assasination. It amazes me that, with all the legitimate driticisms to be made (Blairite, Friend of Israel etc;) the high-minded Yessers attack him for being seen in a Scotland strip (apparently, he’s not entitled or summink) or for the press reporting that he was hit by an egg (mustn’t spoil the image of the even-tempered peace-loving Yesser).
I called out the NO posters for bringing this onto the blog at the weekend. This time, yet again, it is the Yessers who decided that they are too popular and must help their side lose a few votes by revealing their petty-mindedness.

SFTB what has that post to do with a Celtic blog. Of course you can post what you want but this political stuff (both sides) is not for here ,go to a politco blog and fight amongst each other-Please. Hail Hail Hebcelt

How are you , hopefully your family are are coping ok
Btw , i don’t know if you’ve ever thought of collecting all those mad scenario’s of yours and sending them to the sit-coms on tv
Yourself and that maddie Acgr come up with some really pant-wetting stuff
Love your work on the blog …keep it up :))))
mike in toronto,
The secretary would have been TUPE transferred from the old club to the new club and would retain continuity of employment. If she didn’t get the full redundancy based on 40 years service, I hope she is consulting a lawyer as we speak.
hebcelt
the horse has bolted on that one
Turkeybhoy @ 16 05 .
I too think we have a chance ..
I went to that game in Milan – I have no memory of outplaying them . They scored 2 , we scored 0 . At that point they were mid table crap in a relatively crap Serie A.
As for Inter – 2 of them have a World Cup 2014 losers medal and another 4 of them played in last summers World Cup -Palacio / Campagnaro, Kosevic , Medel ,Guarin and Hernanes.
Has the excellent Craig Gordon been ` accepted` by the Celtic support?

the offer is there if you need it. yes the score was good but really could have been much much better there were quite a few sitters missed but on the plus side at least they were creating chances so glints of optimism (for me anyway others will disagree theres no pleasing everyone)
HH
Jungle Jim Hot Smoked can’t speak for the whole support but he’ll do me. H H Hebcelt

“You don’t say……..well, I say he is, unless you can negotiate with Messi :)…!!”
—————————————————————-
That Messi guy would never get a game for us.
He would not fit into RD’s & JC;s game plan. :-
He is too wee @5 ft 7ins.
He is not quick enough.
He is not strong enough.
His body shape is not of an athlete.
He doesn’t track back enough.
He doesn’t do enough work off the ball.
He doesn’t score enough goals outside the penalty box.
He is not great at tackling.
He is not great at heading the ball.
His goals scored prowess has diminished since 2011 /12.
His mind is not on the game, thinking about allegations of Tax evasion.
He has never proved it at international level.
Distracted by too much media interests, although does great charity work
And Messi loves chips. Ok I’m kidding, I think. :-)
HH.
Geordie
His Talent as a `keeper is beyond reasonable doubt but we have still to see him come up for a Celtic corner.

Cant speak for anyone else but I for one admit to having great reservations when he was brought in and will openly admit I was wrong wrong wrong , he is and hopefully will continue to be a great addition to our squad

I think he will `do` for all supporters but I have yet to notice his receiving the warmth from the support his performances deserve.

I believe you are not alone in that perception.

JJ,
But he doesn’t expose our frailties enough with his wonder saves. I’d rather we had a better defence and he made more howlers.
Ok, joking aside….he’s been awfy braw. He’ll do for me.
I’d rather see him coming for a cqn corner :)
Well done salary it gives Sevco a year to bring someone in according to DJ on sky
