Inter have hit a bit of form recently but comments coming out of Milan indicate their visit to Celtic Park is viewed with some trepidation. The stadium’s Champions League reputation remains fresh in the memory, even if the team has been transformed since the last major victory over a truly top team two years ago.
A number of those who will play for Celtic on Thursday will have only seen those great European nights on television. Playing in front of 60,000 Celtic fans will be a new experience. Transforming this support into an energising force is our job. Inter’s first objective will be to frustrate and quieten the crowd. My hunch is that this will be difficult.
We have the line-up confirmed for the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner, which is at the Kerrydale Suite on Friday 13 March. Topping the bill for the Q&A is Packy Bonnar, Jock Stein’s last signing, who made his debut on St Patrick’s Day 1979.
Packy’s Celtic and Ireland team-mate, Tommy Coyne, will also be taking part. Tommy had an incredible career and speaks intelligently on football, and life in general. We’re also delighted to have Joe Miller. Joe played in the same Celtic team as Packy and Tommy. Part of our historic Centenary Team, he also scored that unforgettable Scottish Cup Final winner. More recently Joe formed the Association of Former Celtic Players.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Jock Stein’s first game as Celtic manager, which takes place that week, we also have Jock’s personal friend and biographer, Archie Macpherson will speak about the great man. If you’ve ever needed inspiration…..
I’m also delighted to confirm we have Celtic’s First Lady of Song, Patricia Ferns, who is making the journey over from Ireland for our night.

Folks,
Just a quick repost.
I am looking for any items that people want to donate for a raffle or auction by St Ambrose High School in Coatbridge for this coming Friday.
They are raising money to build a medical assessment centre in Malawi which will be used to hopefully provide some early diagnosis for some easily treated diseases.
Unfortunately, without such centres those easily treated diseases go undiagnosed and and then turn into killers so the centres really do save lives.
I stress, I am not looking for cash but if you have an old signed shirt or a ball or anything that might raise a couple of quid then let me know.
Cheers
BRTH
Not a political post, more social comment.
I read recently that DWP employs 3,500 staff specifically to investigate suspected benefit fraud which MAY involve as much as £1.2bn.
Lot of money, and I don’t want anyone undeserving of it to get their hands on it.
Meantime,300 employees of HMRC are trying to claw back an annual £70bn in tax evasion-quite separate from avoidance,btw-by those who still think taxes are for little people.
Their £15k a head dinner is right good value, innit?

I noticed on Saturday wee GMS was very keen to do the old step over and have a crack at goal. The type of tactics needed for Thursday. No defender,no matter who, likes tricky forwards running at them.Do it in the box, fair chance of a penalty.
Inter now beginning to show that good players are just that. You cant keep them down forever.A very talented team. Our fitness will be put to the test on Thursday.
Cant wait.Remember anyone going, every flag required. They want a sea of Green and White.A sight to behold.
On Thursday night the crowd will either be a massive help, or a big hinderance. Depends on how our players deal with the occasion and how the match goes. The fans need to be patient.

” Pleased to have won 2 in a row but we have much work to do.We switched off for 15 minutes and sloppy defending gave them a goal.Another mistake gave them a great chance which they missed. That has to stop..Celtic Park will be electric. We will need to be 100 % focussed and believe in ourselves..
Asked about Kovacic , Mancini said –
” Truly a marvellous player but he needs to stop trying to win games on his own ”
A Journo asked Zanetti if he thought Kovacic would play in Glasgow –
” I don’ t know – I don’t pick the team..I think he is the best young talent we’ve had since Ronaldo .He needs to learn that football is a collective thing not an individual thing “
“last in his company he’s”

It is very sad and very shocking ISIS are reported to have beheaded 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians they certainly dont show Muslims in a very good light. This group are taking things back to the middle ages they appear to lack any compassion what so ever may those they murdered rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon them. Keith Jackson wants to know if Ronny should be taken seriously … this is almost too funny for me ….
Paul 67 enjoy St Patrick’s night – JOE MILLER
Hampden was memorable – but equally memorable for me was a small bar in Seville – tapping a guy on the shoulder (who was wearing the hoops with the name MILLER and number 7 on his back) and saying I was at Hampden when Joe scored that goal (a one two with Gary Steven if I remember correctly)
Anyway imagine my surprise when Joe Miller turned round and said Yeh I loved that goal
How many Celtic players have gone to watch Celtic after their career wearing the hoops with their own name on the back Joe Miller hero and thank you

I dropped my mate off on Saturday morning, just south of Manchester to visit his parents. Picked him up Sunday evening.
Listening to news reports both days-Denmark,Libya,Ukraine,drownings in the Med-was hard.
100 years ago we were fighting the war to end all wars.
Now people are being slaughtered for worshipping the same God in a different way,or being unlucky in the lottery of being born in poverty.
Or being a pawn in a despot’s great game.
As my mate said-“I haven’t seen my parents and my sister for too long.”
He’s not the emotional type,but…
Reports like that brought home to him how lucky he is,we all are.

Decent points raised, and argued well. But then,we all know Jackson is a choob.
I,on the other hand, always held a higher opinion of your good self. Up front, own name, open to all-comers.
So I was disappointed to read that you block good Celtic men whose opinion differs from yours.
Hopefully that can be resolved, bad day at the office, and normal service can be resumed.

Media think he won’ t play on Thursday . Support seem split – some want the talent on the pitch / some want a team player.
Charlie and the Bhoys
We were contacted and asked to do a song for this special wee guy and without hesitation we accepted the offer. They sent us some lyrics a couple of weeks ago to work with and hoped we’d come up with something.
The song was finished this afternoon and it was emailed across to see what they thought….we were happy with the reply!
The song is now in the hands of the people who asked us to do it and theirs to do as they wish – maybe to raise money for his charity, who knows.
It was a pleasure doing it and a privilege to be asked.

Just listened to it on You Tube.Very well done Mr Scanlon.
Afternoon Bhoys,
I’ve taken a cheeky wee half day today and decided to celebrate this rare break from stressing myself out by stopping in a public house near my work. The joy was short lived as I paid for a pint of “craft” lager and got £4.50 change from a tenner!
It’s a far cry from the 50p pints in the strathclyde union 10 years ago.
Anyhoo, I’m looking forward to Thursday night and I am genuinely keen to see Griffiths start. I think we have seen him transform from a wee ned to a proper Celtic player – he deserves a shot against inter. I didn’t think I’d be saying that at the start of the season.
Right, can anyone lend me a quid to pay for another pint…

From Ewan Murray.
SPFL as pitiful and spineless as their SFA pals with regards sectarian chanting at Old Firm game. Which isn’t a shock, of course.
