Inverness panic instead of asking for support

447

There has been an enormous amount of guff said and written during the last five months but last night’s statement by Inverness Caledonian Thistle chairman, Kenny Cameron, is surely is up there with the most bizarre.

“All clubs will now have to live with the repercussions of this decision. Scottish football was at a cross roads today in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation, financial distribution and a road map that would have taken the game forward.

“But this has now been thrown in to disarray by this decision. This is a sad day for all clubs in Scotland.

“Certain clubs in the SFL have perceived the financial information they were receiving as a ‘big stick’ to beat them into accepting Newco in the First Division. This was definitely not the case, as far as I am concerned. What they were being told was the reality of the situation.

“We will be convening an emergency board meeting over the weekend to discuss the very serious financial implications for us as a club going forward.”

Instead of explaining to the people of Inverness that buying season tickets will prevent the club making non-football staff redundant he seems to be preparing the ground for significant cutbacks.

This is the reality for every club in the SPL and several in the SFL.  Fans, including Inverness fans, demanded that a sporting element was retained in their game.  Now they’ve gotten their way, Inverness and the rest should be putting out the clarion call for fans to buy tickets.

As football fans, this is our responsibility.  35 out of 42 clubs voted to reject Sevco into anything other than the bottom level of Scottish football.  Now we must step forward.

P.S. You don’t really need me to tell you, but buy a season ticket now!

  8. Why are the MSM continuing to push this line about bending or should I say, abandoning the rules for one special case? They have been told emphatically in 2 separate votes that NO, the cost to the game of doing so is too great.

Integrity or bust. Simple as that.

  9. I can understand Doncaster doing anything within his power to keep Newco Rangers in the SPL, but cannot for the life of me figure out why Regan has acted in such a blatant and obviously damaging manner to achieve the same end.

Whatever the reason it is a strong one that will lead to his demise and the trashing of his reputation into the bargain.

Who on watching his performance in this farce would employ him in the future?

  10. Miki67- if you are getting one of the super fast wireless routers from Virgin make sure that all the devices can connect before the engineer leaves- we got one installed but later realised my laptop would not connect, the wireless driver needed updated, a call to the Virgin tech help centre, asked them to check the driver, they took control of my laptop remotely and installed the latest version for me. Good service.

This is a common fault on older steam driven laptops.

Heres a thought while I’m remenising all during the 80’s and 90’s when we were in the doldrums with the occasional highlight our fans filled every ground we went to tickets were like gold dust and supporters buses full. I travelled to many a game ticketless just to have my name down as having attended as that gave me a better chance of a ticket the next season ,live t.v. games outside of cup finals were practically unheard of so if you wanted to see Celtic play you went to the game.

From my teenage years through to my 30’s I travelled the length of the country and beyond to watch Celtic and I was not alone and mot of my fellow supporters were of a similar age .

Now I see the young ones who should be travelling sitting in pubs watching live televised matches .For many this is the only experience they have of Celtic playing outside of Celtic Park ……..I wonder if the SKY deal would be that great a loss.

How does Doncaster propose to put the proposal to the SPL at what will be their A.G.M. and that is what the meeting has been scheduled for, not to decide solely who Club 12 will be?

Any proposal will have to be listed under A.O.C.B. I cannot see that the SPL can pass such a proposal, that Sevco Scotland Ltd. will play in Division One, they have no jurisdiction on the the three leagues that come under the banner of the SFL. The only way that this could be done would be for the SPL to come up with another package, they would consider putting to the SFL Clubs. Then the SFL Clubs would have to convene a further meeting to consider the new package. In my view totally unworkable.

The fact that Regan told Green that no way would they would be playing in Division Three prior to the vote being taken is enough for him to sacked, thrown out. Even by him saying this; the SFL Clubs voted them to Division Three.

With all due respect to Alex Thomson, I do not believe the publishing the e-mail will result in either or both Regan or Doncaster being ousted. Nor will it stop Doncaster trying to put forward another proposal to have them in Division Three.

I personally think that Sevco Scotland Ltd. will either play in Division Three or they will join the league that Third Lanark play in. I believe the SPL Clubs will say enough is enough (the majority of them anyway) and I believe the SFL Clubs will stand resolute. Unless what has been alluded to by some of them due to confidentiality they cannot say what really was said, was that they came up with a counter proposal that is secretly being considered by Doncaster and Regan.

If I am wrong and there is Sevco in Division One, I will only ever pay my money to watch Celtic at Celtic Park in the league and in Europe. I will never ever pay another penny to watch a Scottish or Scottish League Cup tie.

If the SPL and or SFA overrule the decision of the SFL Clubs it will prove once and for all and to the public that Scottish Football is corrupt.

Just my own views O.G. no harm to you or Alex. I would be interested in hearing Alex’s views on my post, feel free to send it to him.

  13. LennyBhoy: what more proof do you need?

The events ever since Valentine’s Day have been one long procession of evidence that those who run the game in Scotland are wholly corrupt.

ANY other club in the country would have been dead, buried, forgotten and no way back, months ago.

As I recall, a standard item on the agenda of any AGM is election of the board members. Let’s hope we get a completely new board. Instruct the members of the current board to leave. Immediately.

2 weeks from the start of the season and they are still seriously contemplating a new member. Not a single other club in the country would have been considered months ago.

SFL clubs have shown that they are now in position to wrestle power away from Corruption FC and its cohorts.

Stand together for the good of all. And yes, even rangers. If they ever do want to return to the top flight, they must totally abandon the old regime forever.

Just when you think they cant get any dafter over in DEADclub MEDIA

They come up with this cunning plan to get reinstated into SPL:))))

(I tidied it up a bit)

    ======================

    Edit: banned

Have been thinking about a possible new boycott. Have two ideas. Let me know which one is better and we’ll go ahead with it immediately.

    1. So, in the 3rd Division games against the s***e diddy teams, this is what happens. At half-time, every one of us goes to buy a pie. Or goes to the toilet. Or something like that. And we don’t come back until the second half starts. People will see the empty stands and know it’s a big statement about the future of Scottish football. We will maybe get reinstated back into the SPL with immediate effect. The bigwigs will panic.

    2. We don’t attend the 3rd Division games against the s***e diddy teams. At all. They will die soon after.

What we do is this – we go to a random SPL game each week. But we don’t enter the stadiums obviously. Not giving these t*****r chairmen our money. We stand outside. And chant throughout the entire match. The diddy supporters inside will think, ‘Who’s making that noise?’ They will look outside and see the mighty Gers fans standing there. Making more noise than their supporters will have been making inside the stadium. These backstabbing t**** will then see what they are missing. Again, we could get immediately reinstated back into the SPL with immediate effect.

  15. Picked my home top up on launch day near closing time at the superstore. By the time i was served at least 10 people had spent in excess of £100 quid. Not bad over £1000 quid in 5 minutes.

Not my main point though, i looked at the impressive stadium and surrounding area across from CP and thought it looked really good. CP and surrounding area looks poor in comparison.

Celtic seem to be missing an oppertunity to modernise the stadium area. i did see that a new celtic sign has been put up on the north stand and the side panels of the jock stein and lisbon lions has been replaced too.

Anybody know if there are going to be improvements in the surrounding area?

  16. Apropos Wiggy and his ‘threat’ that fans of Sevco would/should boycott D3 away gounds and that’ll hurt them. Utter tosh – those clubs have NEVER had a penny from visitng Rankers or Sevco fans, ever and so they simply cannot miss what they’ve never had. An utter moron of a man; incredible that he was given a top job in Scottish football when he lacks such intellect.

45 years ago the Shamrock Accordian band from Coatbridge led the Lisbon Lions round Celtic Park. Just saying like!!!

Thats Teresa Finnigan and Sammy Marshall (now married) at the front.

If I recall correctly, and I was there, as soon as Bob Kelly became aware of the band’s presence, he hunted it.

I agree mate no further proof required. However, my point, clumsily put was that by not accepting the SFL vote and by coming up with another proposal absolutely proves they are corrupt.

Everybody, SFL, dead club fans et al want Division Three. They should accept this.

Unless as I posted that the confidential discussions, comments yesterday were around coming up with an acceptable proposal. Call me cynical but I would not be surprised if this is the case. However, I still vehemently believe the SFL Clubs will be resolute in their stance.

On the subject of fan action or boycots, I noticed Green’s plea for Rangers Tribute Band fans not to boycot away games. The last thing Sevco can afford is the fans of oposing teams failing to turn up at Ibrox.
