Ironic crop of creative, unusable, talent at Lennoxtown

258

There is a bit of irony with Celtic so bereft of creativity at the moment, having Marian Shved and Ryan Christie both at Lennoxtown but unable to play.  Shved, 21, will be eligible to make his Celtic debut next season.  It did not work out for him as a teenager at Sevilla, but he has been a player of promise since his school days.

Ryan Christie looked like he would never make his Celtic breakthrough, but a series of injuries presented him with an opportunity at the League Cup semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield, which he transformed from a taut occasion into a comfortable win.

Hearts, who we play on the final league game and in the Scottish Cup Final, are going through a torrid run of form, but their task at Hampden will be to block and frustrate the champions.  An infusion of creativity from somewhere will be required.

Many thanks to those who participated in the auction for tickets for Sunday’s game, the winner paid £960 to the Celtic FC Foundation, a magnificent total.

Rumour that Ashley didnt turn up to the meeting though, not seen that confirmed anywhere.

    ___

Newcastle Chronicle were reporting this morning that Ashley was there yesterday.

I know you are only jesting, but THAT wasn’t funny! Gives me the heebiejeebies even thinking about it. Mind you it would save me some money when I cancelled my season ticket.

    _________

Haha didn’t mean to scare you.

I secretly want Graham Potter of Swansea

  3. Timaloy

Potter from Swansea is a great shout.

We were told a few years ago we were going to play the same style of football moving forward from youth to senior level. That has happened recently starting with Deila and through the Rodgers reign.

This is one of the main reasons Lennon shouldn’t get the job. His strengths are setting up a physical team defensively coupled with good man management (motivational) skills. It is not possession based tactically astute football.

If we want someone similar to Rodgers then Potter is the probably the most like for like within our budget.

It’s Nothing Personal says James Forrest

Yesterday I read the blog and had to reread many of James Forrest’s posts after I read this

“Lennon has to stop thinking of this as being personal. it’s not.”

I have selected a number of what I considered personal digs at Lenny

“It was a childish, petty response and as far as I’m concerned it’s another nail in the coffin.

He’s not good enough to get it, and now he’s proved he’s not got the temperament to get it.

If he’s already hitting out at the fans before he’s under real pressure God knows what we’ll have to watch if he does get it and we don’t hit the ground running at the start of the next campaign, because that will be pressure and I don’t think he can hack it.”

So, he’s not got the temperament or ability to handle the pressure of the job, both personal attributes we are told he fails on and portrayed as unstable – nothing personal?

“He isn’t the best candidate, and even if he got it and won it and achieved the main goal, he would STILL not be the right person for the job because he never was.”

So even if he won 9, 10, 11….50 in a row all with trebles and the European Cup’s to boot every season he’d still not be the right man for the job for some because he never was – and it’s no personal.

“Is Lennon the best we can get?”

    Alternative question

Is Lennon the best man for the job?

“And if you conclude – as you must – that the answer is no then his appointment is a backward step and it has not put us in the best position we could be in to secure those titles. And as such I will regard it as a scandalous one whether it succeeds or fails because he didn’t deserve to get it.”

Irrespective of whether he “succeeds or fails”, how can such an argument be anything other than personal? Who “deserves” it more than the man who put his life on the line for the club?

“Something bad happened at Hibs. Something we didn’t get to the bottom of. I hear stories, none of which I’ll repeat, but there’s no doubt he lost the dressing room and the confidence of almost everyone at the club and anyone not worried about that needs to get real.”

The most sickening smear and nothing personal about helping open attacks based on unsubstantiated rumours. Any alternative scenario’s such as refusing to be Petrie’s mouth piece at manager/referee forum, dismissed. Innuendo demonstrates JF’s best career path, meejabound.

“I thought his behaviour as Hibs manager at times bordered on the disgraceful; public threatening to resign over the budget and again over the players?

All that’s missing is “bringing it on himself” and “snarling”, meejabound I tells ya – nothing personal?

“all know that Lennon has pressure points which they can push on time and again … as we’re going for nine and ten in a row?”

Same pressure points they pushed as he snarled his way to three in a row – nothing personal?

“If it was just results and performances and tactics, that’d be one thing. But it’s these nagging worries about all the other stuff that makes this easily the most dangerous option we could take.”

Already dismissed the results as inconsequential but pretend to be open minded to allow the introduction of faux reverence and care, worded like the true meejabound hack having already intimated enough of their intonations like all those times he brought it on himself – nothing personal?

“the Man himself, who I would stand in front of a bullet for”

When your no stabbing him in the back – nothing personal?

Unfortunately JF it’s all to personal for you, so much so either cannot see it, or worse, can see it and using it to test how much you can get away with or if your personal acrimony can be transferred and spread to besmirch the reputation of a Celtic great. Then again you might just be trying to demonstrate to the meeja employers that unqualified hacks can wield as much power to propagate their agenda as qualified hacks.

Either way you failed miserably to keep it an objective discussion.

I want Lenny as manager I think there is no more deserving manager and the best man for the job but not while PL remains in office, there, like last time, will be no support from the executive, who helped the Scottish establishment maintain silence for months while our manager was threatened with bombs and bullets.

Pressure he handled alone while demonstrating a strength and depth of character that you called into question with your first volley.

Are there better managers out there, indubitably but to watch so called Celtic supporters turn on Lenny like this is a disgrace. O have no problem people advocating their preferential alternatives but calling the mhans character and professionalism into question is disgusting and you failed. Worse, you failed in the most dishonourable way, pretending his own personal plight mattered to you, like one of those hun hacks whose career you obviously covet.

  6. Potentially looks like we have no strikers available for Sunday.

Edouard a doubt for cup final, so there’s no chance he’ll play.

By all accounts Bayo and Griff not ready.

Also heard Jack Aitchison is injured.

Could O.Burke get one final chance in the hoops, or maybe even see Sinclair play as a false striker.

Either way, will be an interesting line-up.

  7. Ruggyman

Play Burke, hand him a medal, say our goodbyes and hope he’s absolutely nowhere near the team come the 25th May.

    A truly awful footballer.

  8. Potential line-up

Johnny Hayes is a big injury doubt. Is Izaguirre fit?

  10. Timaloy29

I don’t expect to see Bayo this season. That said, it was late February was it not when he done his hamstring.

I know a bad tear can put you out for 6 to 8 weeks. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t back in full training by now.

  11. line up could be anything on Sunday.

for the cup final i expect Brown to play if fit.

If he isn’t (broken toe?) , I would play Ajer in CM and Benkovic at CB. Could be a wee spanner in the works that Hearts won’t expect or i could have gone mad!!

    Hail Hail

  12. All these names being mentioned as our possible new manager , most have no chance of being at celtic . As for Neil. My own opinion is he has had his shot . Time to look elsewhere . Desmond holds the aces .the balls in his court , if he is serious about getting the 10 then a spend will be sanctioned , but I bet most of us won’t hold our breath on that one . But we will soon get our answer .

  13. AULDHEID on 17TH MAY 2019 4:47 PM

I see Petrie”s name mentioned as a man with no love for Celtic who also took the 5 Way Agreement over the line.

He was Chairman of the Licensing Committee that granted Rangers a UEFA licence in 2011 on what, unless someone proves it wasn’t , false pretense.

It’s high bloody time Celtic took the gloves off over the SFA.

    As usual, spot on.

It’s time we ditched the keep our powder dry, moral high ground nonsense. They talk absolute rubbish and downright lies.

We need to be on the front foot and offensive. We have the truth on our side. What do we have to lose, we don’t have any allies here.
