Is it 1 or 12 in a row tomorrow?

1011

So what’s this, one in a row?  It’s been almost four years since that night in Dundee but when the questions concerning ineligible players are eventually answered, who knows, it could be 12 in a row or more.  We’ll find out soon enough.

The margin of supremacy Celtic have this season means that when the inevitable comes, whether it is two weeks or more after the earliest date the league could be won, the celebrations will not be as acute as they were in 2008 or even in 2001, when we finally knew our long period underfoot was finished, however, this will be recorded as one of the most important season’s in our history.

The methods which were used to combat Celtic’s re-emergence under Martin O’Neill and then Gordon Strachan have been laid bare.  The “crash and burn” predictions that so many of us spent years talking about, while Celtic ‘lost’ trophies but paid their bills have come true.

Tomorrow will be a special day.  Enjoy it.

    Hail Hail to you Vmhan.

Happiest of days tomorrow. Triumph of triumph for Neil Lennon, like no other title in my experience. Such have been the trials, barriers and barbarity this Celtic man has faced and TRIUMPHED over.

  5. Paul67 et al, I was asked last week when and how CQN started. To my embarrassment I found myself unable to answer. I lurked for a year before posting in Oct 2011. I would appreciate it if someone could inform me of the facts.

However, I would like Paul to do a wee piece (apologies if he already has) so that i can become enlightened and able to levitate at the same time! :-)

    TootingTim,

    how about Joe Heaney?

    No More Songs

I will sing no more songs: the pride of my country I sang

    Through forty long years of good rhyme, without any avail;

And no one cared even as much as the half of a hang

For the song or the singer, so here is an end to the tale.

If a person should think I complain and have not got the cause,

Let him bring his eyes here and take a good look at my hand,

Let him say if a goose-quill has calloused this poor pair of paws

Or the spade that I grip on and dig with out there in the land?

When the great ones were safe and renowned and were rooted and tough,

Though my mind went to them and took joy in the fortune of those,

And pride in their pride and their fame, they gave little enough,

Not as much as two boots for my feet, or an old suit of clothes.

I ask a Craftsman that fashioned the fly and the bird,

Of the Champion whose passion will lift me from death in a time,

Of the Spirit that melts icy hearts with the wind of a word,

That my people be worthy, and get, better singing than mine.

I had hoped to live decent, when Ireland was quit of her care,

As a bailiff or steward perhaps in a house of degree,

But my end of the tale is, old brogues and old britches to wear,

So I’ll sing no more songs for the men that care nothing for me.

I am an old friend, fed up with family mocking my drunken posts.

You will know me at the breaking of poyums.

Or by my evocative (sic) turn of phrase.

Some cracking big bunnets at the start there.

I’d love a return to the days of hats and bunnets.

What happened to make us stop wearing them? If you see a guy with a bunnet nowadays he is `eccentric’. Look at images of the old Hampden cup finals, if you didn’t have a hat you were not the cat. What changed?

  11. Ulster Celt,

Ok. I’m going to make this brief because I’ve already had this discussion and have already explained my comments. I have no wish to spend all night repeating myself.

First of all, as I recall the discussion arose when Pat Fenlon was accused of being a hun because he had the temerity to turn out for Linfield – an equally anti-catholic, anti-nationalist organisation, I’m sure you’ll agree.

It is accepted wisdom that to change an institution for the better it is necessary to get inside the institution.

The point I was trying to make at the time was that it takes courage to go and work for the other side, and in my experience it is in no small part down to the courage of people willing to take these first, small, thankless steps that walls of division and hatred are ultimately broken down.

The parallel with nationalists or Catholics joining the RUC is obvious. I am well aware of the inglorious history of the RUC just as I am equally aware of the way Catholics who joined were often shunned by their own community or worse. This extends to the PSNI also, most gallingly in the case of officer Ronan Kerr – a young man who sought change from within only to be shot down by thugs who would prefer to continue to roll in their own sh*t rather than try to move on.

As I say,I am well aware of the atrocities committed by the RUC and in no way did I seek to defend them or condone them. I simply believe in moving forward and sometimes that involves having the courage to compromise.

Not everybody has that courage and unfortunately those same people often choose to denigrate those who do.

    Hail Hail.

  12. JimmyQuinnsBits on

    Chris Morris,

that I do… won’t question why you had to move, but it shouldn’t be

  13. For me it’s a special occasion any time I see the Hoops run on the field. In fact just the existence of Celtic Football Club for me is the most special of all. A platform for those to participate in the charitable ethos that brings good to the world.

The joy on Lenny’s face when he lifts the trophy will be the icing on the cake.

I had a look at old CQN bookmarks for some of Pablophanque’s posts I had saved there, links not working I wish there was a way to see them and others I had book marked over the years. His Classic collection of all the old questionable media stories about the huns was a Classic, the one that took a full page of CQN back in the day, infact its probably invaluable.

Steve was here and met many before I got talking to him and met him and I only met him once, a day watching USA v england with that TonyBananas fella, Gordon_J and others. Steve who knew my work situation realised it when we met and started contacting folk in the Netherlands to see if he could get me a job. Steve stayed at mine on my invitation, continued drinking after the night ended and so on. As I say I only met him that time but knew him online for a while before that.
