Is it any wonder Celtic fans worry about contagion?

639

Not only are Newco left without an auditor, a Nomad and therefore a market listing, outgoing auditors Deloitte, wrote to the club last month to explain they were resigning due to threatening and intimidating messages received by their staff from anonymous persons during 2013 and 2014 in relation to their work with the club.

The toxicity of that football club is difficult to overstate.  Is it any wonder Celtic fans are clear: the ‘Old Firm’ died in 2012?  Any attempts to rekindle it will result in contagion for our own club, who maybe smaller going forward without the ‘Old Firm’ dividend, but it will be healthier nonetheless.

I’ll take 40,000 crowds and winning the next 30 titles in a canter, bring it on.

VVD is suspended for 1st round of Europe, so for me, need to play the defence that will start in that game, so no VVD

Also Janko has not featured, will probably not start in Europe, again need to start with Midfield which will start our European game

Of course, CL qualification is eminently achievable.

We have managed it 5 times this millennium.

If only posters were willing to acknowledge that it is also eminently at risk. And that it is at risk every year no matter how wisely or unwisely we spend our money. It is a qualifying competition and the other teams will compete to stop us qualifying. We will win many and we will lose many too.

You cannot turn it into a gimme and a sackable offence for failing to achieve it.

  5. I had no idea we had achieved CL qualification only 5 times in 14 seasons? Just shows how long the great nights live in the memory.

I feel we will fall short again, the standard of opposition we face week in week out in Scotland is nowhere near the level we will face in the final qualifying round. I understand the opposition we will face is unknown at the moment however the prospect of a well drilled Russian, Swedish or Balkan team with hunger in their eyes worries me.

Celtic are 2/1 to qualify for the champions league group stages. Given we have qualified 5 out of 14. The odds would appear to be pretty accurate. It also suggests that some need a reality check, make no mistake about it, if Ronny achieves it this will be his finest achievement so far.

I agree, I confess to being ignorant until the last couple of days about just how hard the pathway is.

My suspicion is we that we will fail, this is based on how poor we were against a poor Inter side in early 2015. To date we have not improved or played against another side of equal “quality”. If we had strengthened our squad by adding proven quality I would be more confident. The facts as I see it are that we have currently a weaker squad, no Denayer and no decent back up keeper are evidence of that.

The basics of pass and move are installed in the approach of most progressive sides, we are getting there but need more time and more quality in our player pool.

I do think RD is on the right path, I also fear he will be a cheap scapegoat if it all goes belly up. I hope we do not return to the dark days of an ex- Celt , one of the bhoys mentality if this happens.

If we get by the Icelandic team, we have a possibility of playing Malmö or Partizan Belgrade. If we are fortunate enough to surmount these obstacles, and the seedlings play out, we would face one of Apoel, Bate, Ludogorets, Dynamo Zagreb or Marobor.

As you and I know budgets belong on a balance sheet or as part of a policy document. All of the teams mentioned above : would they be bracketed with Legia? Would they be confident of spanking Aberdeen or ICT?

Too close to call on the first one, no danger on second question.

Budgets are great to talk about, it’s what you do with them that counts.

Nb. Only seasons id say to be European failures in last 15 would be Artmedia fiasco, arguably not coming 3rd ahead of Aalborg in 08/09, then the TM year (though we did beat Dynamo Moscow) and Lenny’s first year. The rest had lots of positives in my view – even last year played well v Inter and got out of our EL group for the first time in 3 attempts

I am afraid that your wee tale of a Canadian Mayor standing up to those big bad Sharia Law proponents was just another made up internet myth like those regularly peddled on CQN by our right wing correspondent from one of the Carolinas.

It seems, according to some, that the only ones allowed to post here are the left wingers, even wee “Jinky” would be chastised for no other reason than being the greatest “Right Winger” in the world. No man/woman has a right to take away anothers right to express his/her opinion. So,SFTB, read on and I hope it gets the juices flowing.

I am away oot for a Happy Hour, and don’t want to be around to hear the vitriol that will be spewing from my computer, and I won’t be reading back when I get home…….

Then again, you might just have sense of humor……..??

    My Lazy Gun

Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06 right in the doorway. I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about my business. While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn’t moved itself outside. It certainly hadn’t killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do so.

In fact, it hadn’t even loaded itself. Well, you can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong or I’m in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World. But if you take out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom, in the entire world, for Murders. These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S. ALL 4 of these cities are controlled by Democrats . It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data – right?

Well, I’m off to check on my spoons. I hear they’re making people fat .

  27. PFAyr

I was quite careful with my terminology.

    We qualified on 5 occasions.

We also got 2 automatic entries to the CL group with no qualifying campaign.

We have failed to qualify from a Cl qualy campaign in 2002 (Basle), 2005 (Artmedia), 2009 (Arsenal), 2010 (Braga) and 2014 (Maribor).

So the odds are closer to 50:50 than we’d like.

We are favoured to qualify but we are far from a gimme

At the moment any CL is a success, agreed? It seems we budget for a 50% success rate so we are playing to par.
