On a blog last week I wrote, “A point for Michael Nicholson and Dermot Desmond. Two years ago you appointed a manager who, every time he has spoken this month, has put you in the dock for this one [Almaty]. Brendan’s is the only voice representing the club right now and it is not flattering.
“The lack of a constructive narrative is self-defeating and leaves fans wondering: What’s going on?”
The information vacuum from Celtic, apart from Brendan Rogers’ internecine comments, is not sustainable. A week later, calls for answers have become deafening. Celtic fans are not always right in their views, but I always find them easy to speak to (don’t be fooled by a few loons online, they’re pussycats face-to-face).
Plans do not always work out, but when that’s the case, stakeholders (which in this case includes Celtic fans) are best kept informed. Isolation is not your friend.

Or when a dispute between board and support is in the offing , this is totally on them , cloth ears who don’t listen and now it has come to this where the income generators potentially stop going or stop spending on tickets and merchandise, from a position of strength we have found ourselves in this position, what great leaders at board level we have.

“I loved my time at Celtic. At first, I didn’t want to leave Celtic. I wanted to go and fight for my spot. I wanted to do well there.
“But Swansea have a great project and I know some of the staff there. What they think I can bring to the team is something I want to go and do.
“I spoke with the staff at Celtic and it seemed right. I’m really looking forward to going to Swansea.”

Not sure if you noticed my earlier query back to you (10:11pm) when you posted this just after midnight?
Grateful for any reply.
BTW, out of curiosity, how many masons are there on our board?

Bhoys, as I watch my local Aussie side Western United totter on the brink of extinction with its A-League licence now revoked and the team banned from taking part in the league this year, this piece explores how fans of Celtic and Western share a distrust of their respective Boards – over similarly lame fan communications:

Good morning all. Another week of fun starts now. Or maybe not. 🙄

Probably worth noting as well that the club statement on Saturday night contained not one word of support for our manager who 24 hrs earlier had some serious and defamatory allegations levelled against him by a national paper claiming insider knowledge.

Cheers AD.
“Defamatory allegations”
Respectfully, doubt it.
If they did, I hope Brendan and his lawyers take them to the cleaners.
More likely they inferred and hinted without actually stating any facts or attributing any comments to named individuals ….
… and left the rest to human nature.
Standard M.O.
BTW – I say ‘more likely’ as I haven’t read the report.
Any modest contributions I may have made in the past to the revenues of the DR and the S*n … ended before Prescott, Mandelson and others bounced uncomfortably to ‘Things Can Only Get Better’

I urge you to read the article – it’s widely available on Celtic cyberspace- no need to go clicking on The Sun website.
After you read it, let’s discuss whether our Club should have spoke out in defence of our manager.
Tontine Tim,
No offense, but regards daily newsrags, have you been living in a Monastery?.Our Board, and the one across the City, have,in the rags, pet Poodles who will be summoned, told what to print at said Boards request,in return a tasty titbit ,an” exclusive”,thrown their way in the future.
Sun,Record,Express,all on speedial.
Today more than three million children in 16 countries around the world will go to school knowing they can rely on Mary’s Meals to fuel their learning and their dreams. That’s three million smiles lighting up the faces of children living in some of the world’s poorest communities who wake today with hope that they will have a better future.
Just think – 3 million children getting a meal every day due to a guy in a shed in Scotland and the hundreds of thousands of people in many countries who have rallied to this great cause.

No matter what company, organization,no Board is immune to a ” No confidence vote. When you see a whiff of a vote on this subject being spoken of in Parliament, sheer panic ensues.Whips are ordered to bully, cajole, bribe, members,to vote.Wheeled out of hospitals, sick beds, bit on the sides beds. Its life or death for the ruling party,no matter their majority.A vote of ” No confidence” is their death knell.
We shall see what this outpouring of distrust has in the behaviour of our Board.

I appreciate the offer (genuinely) … but I’ll pass.
Caught the headlines already (unavoidable)
As for Celtic Cyberspace, I refer to my previous (admittedly contemptuous) views on the M.O.s of many in there.
I had moderately high hopes for the medium a few years ago.
Not now.
There are clearly talented writers in that space.
Some adept at researching / gathering facts and constructing robust pieces.
Others who don’t have that skill but who can weave compelling or even just broadly thought provoking views.
And, of course, the biggest asset available
Celtic Football Club the subject matter.
Perhaps 10,000 different stories across 138 years … including the most important ones here and now.
Talent ignored and a prime asset wasted.
Instead doing what?
Man marking morons for clicks?
Fomenting unrest to exploit the intrinsic negative bias in humans for clicks?
“Barry said this”
“Chris said that”
“Kris said other” (in single syllables)
“Hugh opined this”
“Rodger posited that”
All for clicks. All for easy money.
IMHO, a pitiful way to earn a crust.
No but maybe it’s time to circle the wagon wheels…

Happy to clarify. As a result of establish a reasonably accurate base from the accounts Ive followed up with this on a strategy shareholding supporters might adopt to get answers without giving up attending games or spending less on merchandise.
====
This was in response to the idea not spending will hit The Board in the pocket.
But it wont hit The Boards pockets. Sure a drop in share value might mean the are a million short or the bonuses might get reduced but these guys are rich.
What will be affected is the money available to improve the playing squad.
The current dissatisfaction is caused by a lowering of the quality.
To raise the quality good players have to be paid more or found in low wage markets like Japan.
The problem is Celtic have not used all the money they could have used to recruit better players.
They have spent pretty much the same on players as Rangers which suggest they have been and will continue to be the benchmark.
The underspend in 23/34 was £43m.
Celtics earnings from 2023/24 accounts were £124.6m
The ratio cap was 90% so £112.14m was what could be spent and still be within the cap.
Player Squad Spend was
£78.35M so
£43.79m
was either spent elsewhere or banked.
(that might have been the year so much was set aside for Barrowfield).
The message about the impact of FSR before the xfer window opened is part of the communication failure.
The 24/25 accounts are not out yet but are likely to show a similar underspend.
If they do and it can be calculated then a question for the AGM via the Comp Sec would be
Why did Celtic underspend the FSR cap in 23/24 and 24/25 and can they inform shareholders what the balance was spent on or banked instead?
Change is not going to be overnight but once Celtic realise they are dealing with a better informed support asking pointed questions, they will have to consider abandoning the mushroom theory of communication – keep them in the dark and feed them shit because it is no longer as dark as it used to be.
We’ve never released a European package as late as we will this year. I don’t know what Saturday’s statement was suppose to do but releasing the package as things stand seems lunacy.
Nicholson simply has to engage with fan media and get front and centre this week prior to these tickets going on sale.
If he can’t do that then he has to be removed. He’s not up to the job.
