Issue 7 of CQN Magazine out now!

Issue 7 of CQN Magazine is out now! We continue our campaigning focus on the crisis in Scottish football from recent weeks as well as delivering many great articles on Celtic.

You can get a glimpse of the magazine below but go to the dedicated magazine site here to read it properly (which you’ll not be able to do below). Nip to page 64 for my favourite article this month, comparing the age of the current Celtic team to some of our great teams from the past. It’s an eye opener.

A special word of thanks to Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News, who this morning got Uefa to confirm: “We are in contact with the Scottish FA and offering assistance”.

We have tons to talk about in the next couple of days, Brian Kennedy, Sailen Manna – don’t let me forget to talk about Sailen, Athletic (one of the most important cup ties in years?), Kenny Shiels (don’t underestimate this guy) and we have a Cup Final to look forward to! Struggling to fit it in but we’ll try.

We are now shipping hard copies of the magazine from the UK – and sold out last month (unlike Rangers tickets last week).  Order your copy by clicking on the link below.  If you want a copy shipped overseas (note, seas, not sees) email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com (for Britain and Ireland please use the link below).

Pay by card or Paypal – We don’t do clowns!

You can support the online edition by making a discretionary donation here.  Thanks to James, Bart, Bobby and David, all of whom are probably still asleep, and everyone who contributed.

RaRaRasputin – This goes way deeper than you think.

Evidence unearthed by loyal blue sleuths on the Follow Follow website suggests that there may even be Celtic supporters in the Scottish Parliament, and the Mother of Parliaments itself.

This conspiracy extends into all walks of life: even lawyers, doctors, businessmen, academics, and popular entertainers are linked with the great Celtic conspiracy.

No wonder the Hidden Hand of Timmydom is giving the most quintessentially British of all clubs such a humiliating skelping.

The Truth Is Out There. (thumbsup)

I read no announcement will be made until end of May as to what bid is preferred.

  3. Sir Minty is not that sorry…

The former owner of Rangers football club Sir David Murray has ruled himself out of buying back the club, which recently fell into administration.

Sir David made the comments in an exclusive interview with Sky News on the day of the deadline for potential bidders to buy the club.

He said he was not interested in regaining control of the club.

Sir David sold Rangers to Craig Whyte, who has since been deemed unfit by the Scottish Football Association to run a football club.

The club appointed administrators last month and players have since taken pay cuts of 75% in order to save the jobs of non-playing staff.

    More follows…

all bids will be conditional on the result of the big tax case, there will be no buyer until this is resolved

Re: the Thomson tweet – one of the myths I’ve seen perpetuated on FollowFollow is that we operate illegally and outwith our means thanks only to a soft loan from DD of £25 million to keep us afloat.

Since their filthy dealings were uncovered they’ve been straining their straitjackets to throw some muck at us – threads on FF like the currently titled ‘Celtic and the Nazis’ claiming we sung pro-nazi songs and flew flags and banners during WW2, buuut it was ‘never reported’, give you some idea of their tragic desperation.

If anyone in the media has anything bitter to spit at Celtic (Hello Chico, et al!) they had better make sure their bank account is well padded to withstand the bite of Dermot’s attack dogs.

Not long now until Mordor burns in bright blue flames. I trust everyone has their bids ready?

I prepared one this week – a special notification of interest from a VERY wealthy Indian consortium out of Bangladesh. Sub-continent BILLIONAIRES who made their money in manufacturing electronics, currently in software development and looking to invest in European football. The Darnel Retard has been alerted for a 2-page spread, although I couldn’t get the swahili translation of ‘warchest’ down pat…

Cup Final Sunday – Samaras hat-trick in the sunshine, 3-0 or 3-1 to mirror Henrik’s glorious day 11 years ago. Then onto the treble.

From the mouth of Darrell King:

“In April 2010, I investigated claims that Rangers players were involved in a payment scheme which extended beyond the terms of a traditional playing contract. I saw paperwork which confirmed that to be the case and it turned out that this was the Employee Benefit Trust, which is of course now a matter of public record. Similar paperwork has now appeared recently in public. Given that the outcome of HMRC’s First Tier Tribunal is pending and an investigation into the EBT scheme is now underway by the SPL at a press briefing in Edinburgh this week, I asked Sir David Murray whether a second contract existed. He responded that there was only ever one contract. When I asked about documents allegedly linked to EBT’s that had appeared recently in public, he said that they were no more than letters of intent. Given that the technical and legal interpretation of these matters is arguably in dispute and that the authorities are continuing to investigate, I believe it would be inappropriate to discuss them in further detail”

  9. I know there are many Tims who hate Hampden (or Hamdump if you prefer that particular sobriquet) but I think its great we have a neutral national arena for cup finals: it gives the final an authenticity and sense of occasion it deserves. Anywayz I think we will put on a show and show the whole of Scotland that what they can expect to see in the bright green future to come…

  10. So Minty says…

“After you pay the tax bill that I am responsible for you will need a further 25 mill to restore the club to where it was.The club HE SOLD FOR ONE POUND.

The brass neck on this guy is something to behold.

  12. STEVE CONROY has quit as a referee.

The 45-year-old official is believed to have informed the Scottish Football Association of his decision this week having been denied fixtures in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League after awarding a penalty to Rangers against Dunfermiline in December in a match the champions won 2-1.

The decision was described as “a disgrace” by Pars manager Jim McIntyre and Sone Aluko, who won the penalty, was later given a two-match ban for simulation.

Conroy has been given eight matches in the SFL since and has now decided to retire.

He became a referee in 1993 and was admitted to the SFA list five years later. He was made a category one referee in 2000.

The official also attracted criticism when he took charge of the Old Firm match in January, 2010, and ruled Celtic’s Marc-Antoine Fortune had fouled Rangers keeper Allan McGregor when heading into the net.

But the Aluko incident attracted major headlines after it was referred to the panel.

  14. By 1945 Scottish football had survived the Depression and two World Wars. Football clubs were really in a poor financial state and more were close to bankruptcy. Some clubs had closed down for the duration of the war, In 1947 an exhibition match between Great Britain and the Rest of Europe was arranged to celebrate the end of World War II. Hampden was the biggest football stadium in

Britain and it was agreed that the game would be played there with the gate money going to FIFA.

FIFA desperately needed funds and were delighted, however, there was one condition, FIFA had to agree that Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales would be officially recognised as four separate football nations, FIFA agreed.

Sandman Is Neil Lennon – I’m just glad the brains trust at Follow Follow hasn’t found out about the time Celtic helped Kim Jong-il build weapons of mass destruction.

Or the time Celtic turned on the floodlights to guide Argentinian aircraft towards Port Stanley in 1982.

Or the time Celtic turned cats and dogs against each other. (thumbsup)

Only in Scotland, or possibly some tin-pot banana republic, would they spend over £60m of public money on the third best stadium in Glasgow, only to make it worse. (thumbsup)

Celtic forced David Murray to spend £10 for every £5 we spent, thus creating Rangers’ problems.

I hope HMRC and the SFA hammer this so-called “Celtic Football Club”. (thumbsup)

The FSA/Bank of Scotland PLC report was published Friday March 9 this year. Jill Treanor (no not Jim Traynor) did a major piece on it in the Guardian last Saturday. The report is available online and is an interesting document to say the least, and yet it only covers a period of 3-4 years previous to the Bank’s collapse and its’ enforced (by Gordon Brown) takeover by Lloyds Bank. Due to various legal threats, (from the likes of Peter Cummings etc.) which would have further delayed publication, the FSA has in effect produced a no names, no packdrill report, but no less damning for that. The scale of lending by the Bank of Scotland’s Corporate Division (Managing Director Peter Cummings) is staggering in its’ scale. The Guardian rightly names Cummings, as the man who destroyed the Bank of Scotland. The FSA is also critical of the Bank of Scotland’s tendency to give preferential lending to what it refers to as “single names”, (a masonic concept in all but name) although it does not actually name them. You can take it from me David Murray is one of these names!

Someone on here yesterday, it might have been Auldheid not sure, posted a link to an article on Murray published in the Scotsman in February of this year. It was written by Alf Young and details his own attempts to write about Murray, (in the Glasgow Herald I think) twenty years ago. Twenty years ago! Alf later became the editor of the Herald, its’ last great period as a Glasgow newspaper.

i read of a deal done to police the fixture v hearts in one of the papers.

the fee reported was way below anything celtic pay. (about 40% below).

as far as im aware ;-) they have fallen behind in these payments.

the game on the 25th looking unlikely due to policing believe it or not more than anything else.

  31. Admittedly for purely selfish reasons I hope that we clinch the league at home against St Johnstone on April 1st. So what I hope for tomorrow is for Dundee Utd to comprehensively beat Rangers (IA) at Tannadice and then for Motherwell to beat Aberdeen and therefore close in on 2nd place.

A good warm up act for the big event on Sunday.
